Objective
My objective is to provide leadership and professional development by modeling and encouraging
positive interactions, coaching, organizational skills, and dedication. I believe these characteristics
drive teachers to become more successful in their classrooms, which will lead to higher student
achievement.
Experience
Curriculum Professional Development Leader January, 2015-Current
As a Curriculum Professional Development Leader, I have developed and worked in collaboration
with kindergarten through third grade with implementing the Rigorous Curriculum Design into our
English Language Arts curriculum. I have been an instrumental part of the implementation of 95%
curriculum in grades K-3 district wide. I am currently receiving LETRS training. I have designed and
implemented a blended learning model using Imagine Learning curriculum with English learning
students K-5. Under my leadership, the district is providing professional learning to K-12 using
scaffolding tasks from Quality Teaching for English Learners. I completed courses on Planning and
Implementing Professional Learning from Learning Forward as well with our local AEA. I currently
stay a brisk on all state mandates and help to implement them in the district with FAST, Early Literacy
Instruction, English Learners and Title One.
Instructional Coach of Technology K-12 July, 2014- January 2015
As an Instructional Coach I have had the opportunity to receive training in many different areas
including: Instructional Coaching (Jim Knight), Adult Learning Theory (AEA 9), Response to
Intervention (Mike Mattos), Rigorous Curriculum Design (Larry Ainsworth), Daily 5, and FAST
(Department of Education). I am utilizing this training to provide teachers and staff with researched
based strategies. I worked diligently writing the technology curriculum K-12. I have also worked
closely with science, social studies, and exploratory departments. I have created a website, multiple
forms, groups, calendars, and documents to increase communication among all staff.
Technology Integrationist August, 2011- July, 2014
As the technology integrationist, I developed an interactive website that housed all professional
developments provided to staff and a link to a technology blog. I supported teachers and students
with integrating technology into their curriculum. I provided multiple professional developments to
teachers to enhance their technology awareness as well as integrate technology into their curriculum.
I provided instruction to students within the classroom setting to enhance curriculum provided by
teachers with technology tools that will assist in the learning. I have a Google Certified Instructor
status that allows me to provide students, teachers, and staff instruction within Google applications. I
attended the Technology Integration Conference, Iowa Technology Education Conference, and The
1:1 conference, and I provided technology seminars at the National Iowa Technology Education
Conference. I organized a teacher-quality technology professional development workshop consisting
of 14 different workshops available to all staff in the Muscatine Community School District. I co-
authored a beginning technology curriculum for Kindergarten –12 grades. I served on the
Professional Learning Community implementation committee, and the Staff Leadership Team at
MHS. I helped produce surveys to evaluate staff in the PLC process. As a member of SLT, we
analyzed data from MAP, ITED, and other data sources. We took this data to help identify needs for
instruction and determining the class schedules.
2. 2
Early Childhood Development Association Instructor January 2010- June 2011
I instructed potential candidates with their coursework to become a Certified Development Associate.
I taught a series of courses to provide the standards set by NAEYC. All classes were provided
through Muscatine Community College. This is a NAEYC accredited program for the
paraprofessionals to be trained on the best practices of an early learning program.
Mentor Teacher August 2003- July 2011
I mentored 4 new beginning educators to the teaching profession. I mentored 2 new first grade
teachers, a physical education teacher, and a second grade teacher. I worked collaboratively with
each beginning educator. I followed mentor program evaluation system provided by Muscatine
Community School District. I used the data collected from student performance tasks, teacher
observation, and students’ assessments to help coach the beginning educator in developing their
craft in teaching.
First/Second Grade Teacher August 2000- July 2011
I collaborated with students and teachers to provide the best instruction for each individual student
based on assessment data provided by Common Formative Assessments, Dibels, Success Maker,
and ITBS. I used this data within my own classroom as well as the leader of my grade level team, and
in our building PLC’s. Together, we provided multi-faceted age appropriate curriculum to all students
following the Iowa Standards and Benchmarks. I served on the school leadership team and provided
teacher development to all staff. I attended multiple workshops on best practices for reading
(including a CAFÉ book study) and math instruction. I served as the facilitator of the technology and
math cadre. I implemented the Leader in Me, Character Counts, and Positive Behavioral
Interventions Supports into my classroom and used it to promote positive outcomes with my students.
I piloted the Everyday Math series and after implementation the school adopted the program for
several years. I implemented Breakthrough to Literacy reading program, which Jefferson used for
many years for the reading instruction due to the scores it produced. I was the schedule “C”
technology coordinator for the building.
At-Risk 9th Grade Reading/Math Teacher August 1999- July 2000
I managed online teaching software that provided at-risk reading and math students’ curriculum set at
their individual instructional level. I collected data on each individual student from assessments and
reports produced by the software to make adjustments that best fit the students’ individual needs. I
provided supplementary instruction when the software did not meet the students’ individual needs. I
conducted all staff professional development on STAR reading program. Students were placed into
this remedial class based on data provided to me from ITED, teacher feedback, and current student
grades. I then used the data to place students who qualified and had time in their current schedule to
receive additional service.
