Shot List

1. Wide shot
establishing shot. It normally shows an
EXTERIOR, eg the outside of a building, or a
landscape, and is often used to show
scenes of thrilling action eg in a war film or
disaster movie

2. Long shot
Long shots consist
of the hole body of
the character with
the head near the
top of the frame
and the feet at the
bottom. Long shots
are used to show
the characters
surrounding and to
show what type of
people they are.

3. Mid long shot
A mid long shot is a shot that consists of the knees upwards. This is used
to show more detail of the character that is in the frame. This is an
effective way to present the character to a knew location or item, so the
audience will be able to see it clearly.

4. Mid shot
A mid shot is a shot that provides us with extra detail to the
character within the frame. There is minimal/unclear
surroundings. These shots are very effective at showing a
characters features and also making clear that they are the
main character.

5. Medium Close up
A medium close up is a shot that consists of the shoulders up
and shows moderate Facial expressions and little body
language. These types of shots are effective to see a
characters reaction or facial expression.

6. Extreme Close up
A extreme close up shot is used to show clear facial
expressions to the audience with little background
interaction. These shots are great for fight scenes or
devastating scenes(e.g. something exploding that kills a
friend). These types of shots are excellent in horror
films and action/adventure films.

7. Close Up
An close up is a shot used to get clear facial expressions
for the audience to see the reactions of the character
within the frame. The background is often blurred out as
the camera will be focusing on the character with in the
frame. These types of shots are used to see reactions of
the character. E.g getting hit by a car.

8. Two shot
A two shot is a shot that is used to show two characters within
a frame. Two shot is often a medium shot of the two characters
with moderate effectiveness of the facial expressions but does
focus on body language, These shots are effective as they can
show who the antagonist and protagonist are with in the frame

9. Over the shoulder
This type of shot is very common when two
characters are having a discussion and will
usually follow an establishing shot which helps
the audience place the characters in their
setting. It also can be used to show what is
front of the characters and in horrors in
particular can show what's going to get them

10. Point of view
A point of view shot is used in short film scenes, which
shows what the character is looking at which is shown
through the camera. This can be used in engaging in
conversations or in chase scenes on foot.

11. High angle
High Angle shot is where the camera looks down on the
character and makes the character look vulnerable or
powerless when applied in a particular genre such as
horror as well as the right effects and setting.

12. Low angle
Low angle shots are often used to make objects or
characters bigger. When the audience are forced o
look at the character or object from a low angle, it
makes the audience feel as if they are powerful or
towering over them making the character or object
look important.
