How does
Japanese
family
behaves?
General Japanese Family and traditions
• According to Hernan “Japanese Families
change with the times, but many
traditional values and practices remain.”
According from the article of Cultural
Atlas.com
“Japan's fertility rate continues to drop, with
couples on average having 1.36 children as
of 2019, down from 1.42 in 2018. These
demographic changes of an ageing
population, high life expectancy and low
fertility rate means that families tend to
have more elderly relatives to care for than
children.”
Japanese
Family
Structure
Could be like
this……
Family Roles
• Japanese society has traditional expectations of gender norms and divisions of labor
throughout most of its history.
• Fathers have typically been the head of the household – who is the number 1 lead to
decide how he can handle his family members. He is also the breadwinner who do his job
to earn an income to provide the needs of his family members.
• Mothers have been responsible for managing the household, expenses, and raising
children.
• The children role is to finish their studies to make their future secure for their parents,
siblings, their future and for their future family.
Japanese religion
• In Japan, they have 2 major religions – Shintoism, and
Buddhism – are mostly preferred. Least of them who
preferred Christianity, Muslim, etc.
• Japanese people really don’t care about their religion
difference from others anymore and they can respect
others difference by not putting pressure to them as
mandated to their law.
