2. 1. TPT RECORDING IN THE ART CLINIC
• HIV follow up format: Place for documentation of all types of TPT regimen is ‘TB
prophylaxis/Rx’ column
• INH Preventive Therapy (IPT, 6H); monthly prescription:
IPT1, IPT2, IPT3, IPT4, IPT5, IPT6, IPTc*
• Three months course of daily INH + Rifampicin TPT regimen = 3HR Monthly
prescription: 3HR1, 3HR2, 3HR3, 3HRc
• Three months course of weekly INH + Rifapentine = 3HP TPT regimen; monthly
prescription: 3HP1, 3HP2, 3HP3, 3HPc
• TPT documentation on the ART register also follow same coding principle for the
new 3 month regimens
*For prescriptions more than 1 month at a time indicate # of months dosage prescribed as follows: e.g. for 2
months IPT dose at the start: IPT1-2; if 3 months dose prescribed at the end of the third month: IPT3-6; etc.

5. TPT REPORTING
• Use either paper based or electronic medical recording system for
reporting TPT activities based on the updated indicator definition.
• Enter TPT data both in the paper based and EMR disaggregated by
type of TPT regimen (6H, 3HR, 3HP)
• ‘TPT completed’ is defined as:
• IPT: completion of the 6 month regimen with in a max 9 months
period
• 3HP: Completion of at least 11 (out of the total 12) doses of weekly
3HP with in a max 16 weeks period.
• 3HR: Completion of the 3 month 3HP regimen at least with in a max
of four months
6. MONTHLY SERVICE DELIVERY REPORTING FORMAT
Note: Monthly service delivery reporting format is recently revised to satisfy data demand
on PLHIV TPT.
7. TPT PERFORMANCE MONITORING
• TPT uptake should be regularly measured and status reviewed at different
levels using indicators:
• LTBI treatment for HIV positive clients newly enrolled to care
• TB Screening for HIV positive Clients
• TPT completion rate among newly enrolled PLHIV
• At facility level, TPT completion rate among PLHIV need to be monitored
as data can be easily compiled from source documents.
8. LTBI TREATMENT FOR PLHIV NEWLY ENROLLED
TO CARE
Definition
Proportion of newly enrolled HIV-positive people started on LTBI treatment during the reporting period
Formula

latent TB infection during the reporting period

11. 2. TPT RECORDING IN THE TB CLINIC
• All types of TPT regimens will be recorded on the facility ‘contact screening
and LTBI treatment follow up register’ (column 30: Date, if LTBI/ IPT started
DD/MM/YY)
• Record TPT regimen type (IPT/ 3HR/ 3HP) and document date of monthly
prescriptions under columns ‘Follow-up for latent-TB infection treatment
(IPT’ in EC (DD/MM/YY):
• For patients who discontinue TPT treatment due to TPT drug adverse effect
select ‘others’ under the ‘Outcome’ column and specify the detail under the
Remark column.

on Child TPT data
14. TPT PERFORMANCE MONITORING
• TPT uptake should be regularly measured and status
reviewed at different levels using indicators:
• LTBI treatment coverage for under fifteen years children
who are contacts of pulmonary TB cases
• As TB screening performance influences TPT uptake, it is
good to track its performance using the following indicator
• TB Screening Coverage for under fifteen years children who
are contacts of pulmonary TB cases
• At facility level, TPT completion rate among under fifteen
contacts need to be monitored as data can be easily compiled
from source documents.
15. LTBI TREATMENT COVERAGE FOR <15 YEARS
CHILDREN WHO ARE CONTACTS OF PTB CASES
Definition

18. IMPORTANT TIPS ON TPT DATA MONITORING
• Each health facility should have plan for TB preventive therapy
service
• TB focal persons should closely work with HMIS focal persons to
improve TPT data quality
• TB focal persons should monitor TPT performance on regular basis
• Performance monitoring team shall review TPT performance and
design action plan on identified gaps
• HMIS and TB persons should regularly monitor and support TPT
(3HP/3RH) data recording as it is newly introduced intervention.
