During this period I gained an immense amount of experience through the different roles I
performed in the internal audit department which included;
Participating actively in establishing internal control systems, policies, procedures
including credit risk management, Finance, IT, Human resources, unsecured staff
advances, investments, purchasing, acquisition of property, cheques and vouchers,
bank reconciliation, budget and overhead budget expenditure
Audit of all business operations and financial transactions and point out
unauthorized transactions that are not within management delegated authority
Ensuring the adequacy of internal control systems and seeing to it that that all
company policies, systems and procedures are observed and applied, and point out
corrective actions and prepare recommendations for improvement
Submitting audit reports on operational compliance to external regulations and
internal control policies and procedures
Ascertaining reliability of the financial and statistical data pointing out appropriate
corrective action to existing deficiencies
Ensuring that overall fraud investigation strategies, operational plan, policies and

From July 2010 to January 2013, I was working with Opportunity Bank Uganda Limited
working as an Individual Relationship Officer attached to Mbarara Branch.
On 28th
February 2011, I was elected a culture change champion representing Mbarara
Branch where I have been able to chair and conduct Meetings in the right direction.
From then I have attended many trainings in Opportunity Bank Uganda like Agricultural
Training at Rwizi Arch Mbarara, group lending in Masaka, cultural change trainings among
others.
Responsibilities held during the period
Interviewing prospective clients guides and assists the individual clients in completing
the application form ensuring that all required documentation is provided by the client.
In coordination with the Credit Department I performed pre-qualification assessment
including visits to the client’s place of business, community background checking,
analysis of financial condition and financial risk within framework of the bank’s lending
policies and recommends credit worthiness of client.
Managed a specific volume Above Ugx 1billion of individual loan portfolio and ensured its
growth and profitability.
Identified and solicited potential clients in a designated area.
Marketed company products and services to clients with a view to maximise outreach.
Co-ordinated the processing of the loan application ensuring that loans were processed
according to the bank’s lending policies and client’s needs.
More to that I had always stood in for my supervisors in case they were not around
All these situations have been a learning experience to me.
