What is Quality Assurance?
QUALITY-The totality of features and characteristics of a product or service that bear on its
ability to satisfy the given need. To be able to assure, control or improve quality, it is necessary to
be able to evaluate it. This definition calls for the identification of features and characteristics
bearing upon fitness for purpose of a product or service. The ability to satisfy the given need
includes economics and time factors as well as
operability,maintainability,availability,reliability,durability and other characteristics that the need
involves.
ASSURANCE-All those planned and systematic actions necessary to provide adequate
confidence.
This definitions includes the determination and assessment of quality, as well as specification of
the standards required.
PROGRAMME-A documented set of activities,resources,and events,related to an organisation.
PLAN-A document, deriving from the Quality programme, setting out and recording the specific
practices and procedures, including inspections and test, related to a
project,contract,product,component,etc.
CONTROL-The organisational techniques and activities, and their use, that sustain the product or
service quality to the specified requirements. This definition includes proof plans and inspection
and testing plans and may be incorporated in job routes and instructions.
