3. BACKGROUND
The emergence and spread of pathogenic bacteria that is resistant to
antibiotics has become a major public health concern.
The incorrect prescription, inappropriate consumption and excess use
of antimicrobial drugs, specifically antibiotics, are possibly the main
factors contributing to the widespread of antibiotic resistant bacteria.
This study aims to evaluate the rationale (knowledge, attitude and
practices) towards the use of antibiotics as well as their resistance
among Pharmacy students in the University of Benin.
4. METHODOLOGY
A cross-sectional study was conducted among pharmacy students
between April and May 2021. The students completed a questionnaire
made up of three dimensions:
The sample size was calculated, classroom visited. The data was
collected in spreadsheets and analysed with descriptive statistics.
The frequency distribution of the knowledge, attitude and practices
dimensions between the students academic levels were presented as
percentage from a total of 100.

7. CONCLUSION
• This study revealed that knowledge and attitude of pharmacy students
towards the use of antibiotics are very good even though there were
variations with respect to different factors.
• Students characteristics like age, and gender had negligible impact on
the students knowledge and attitude. But the students academic level
had an appreciable impact on students knowledge and attitude
