2. The infrastructure governance that was applied
in infrastructure project, the one am familiar
with is the kawo bridge in kaduna state, Nigeria.
The project went successful because the phases
were followed gradually which lead to a sustainable
and long lasting bridge.
3. The state government spend efficiently about N7bn
to execute the project. However, the government
use to spend sustainably on infrastructure
investment through better institutional capacity,
regulations and skills. Right from providing
adequate funds, selection of good construction
company and providing security for the workers,
the government did well. The bridge project was
awarded to RONCHESS GROUP.
4. In brief, RONCHESS GROUP is a group companies with over
50 employees that spans across two continents. The group
comprises of Ronchess Global Resources Limited a lagos-
based traffic solution, construct and procurement company
and Ronchess International, LLC, a new York-based real
state development, private equity and value capital firm.
5. Ronchess deliver the bridge project beyond the
government’s expectations, right from the phases
that was implemented in delivery the project.
6. The framework designed by the state government
was implemented and it yield a tremendous result.
7. Break ground: the foundation in constructing the
bridge was excellent , because the workers took
their time to make it stable.
The Phases Followed In Constructing The
Bridge
8. The construction of soil compaction also
delivered well. Soil compaction is a construction
process for which the discipline of geotechnical
engineering provides quality assurance testing.
9. Pour abutments: they are used at the end of
bridges to retain the embankment and to carry the
vertical and horizontal leads from the
superstructure to the foundation.
10. Girder placement: this support the deck, and are
responsible for transferring the load down to the
foundation.
11. Railing installation: this is a fencing system that
provide a physical barrier for pedestrians crossing
bridge and of sufficient height to minimize the
likelihood of a pedestrian falling over the system.
12. Paint and decorating: the bridge was well painted
and decorated. Paints helps protect the bridge from
the high salt content in the air which can cause the
steel to corrode or rust.
13. Conclusion: the reconstruction of this kawo bridge
is very important as it reduces holdups, accidents
and late in delivering private sector’s goods.
