Bikaner is a city of Rajasthan, situated in the middle of the Thar desert. The city has good deposits of gypsum at Jamsar and Kolayat. The city emerged as the major center for the ceramic industry. As the city is situated in an arid region of undulating sandhills, the breeding of camels, horses, and sheep is an important occupation.
