Context
Topic: Online safety
Total learning time: 280
Number of students: 15
Description: The 10 years old students work in 3 groups of 5, in order to discover how they
can stay safe online
Aims
1. discover the dangers of the internet
2. prevent cyberbullying
3. be aware of online relationships and sexting
4. know about media literacy
5. prevent hate speech and radicalization
6. be sensible with general online safety issues
Outcomes
Knowledge(Knowledge): Know the pros and cons of the internet
Comprehension(Comprehension): Comprehend that the internet can be a safe place as long
as we KNOW and PREVENT wrong attitudes
Application(Application): Work on a safe and proper online profile (no naked
pictures/videos, no hate speech or bullying)
Analysis(Analysis): Find sites with fake news and analyse the elements that make a
statement fake
Synthesis(Synthesis): Create a poster offline and online with the WAYS of staying safe online
Evaluation(Evaluation): Make a self assessment of the group work. Make a peer review of
the work of the 2 other groups. Participate on quizzes created by the teacher and the other
students as well.
Affective learning outcomes(Affective learning outcomes): Create a movie with the
emotions of students who are victims of cyber bullying or sexting.
Psychomotor skills(Psychomotor skills): Create a play where all students express them selves
on how they feel when they are threatened by the internet

All students discuss on their thoughts about these videos. They share their own experiences
on whether they have been victims of any kind (e.g. cyberbullying, online relationships and
sexting, fake news, hate speech and radicalization)

Collaborate 20 minutes 5 students Tutor is not available
The students form 3 groups of 5 students. The 1st team has to create a storyboard with
http://www.makebeliefscomix.com/ with the story of a victim of cyber bullying. The 2nd
about a victim of sexting. The 3rd about a victim of hate speech. They all may use stories of
their own, stories on the internet, stories in a youtube video.
Investigate 40 minutes 5 students Tutor is not available
The 3 teams search on the internet about fake news. They try to find out if it is easy or
difficult to separate the true of fake events. They take watch this

TenQuestionsForFakeNewsFINAL.pdf with the 10 questions they have to ask themselves on
whether the news are true or fake.
Produce 30 minutes 5 students Tutor is not available
Each team creates a quiz . The 1st about BULLYING. The 2nd about SEXTING. The 3rd about
HATE SPEECH and RADICALIZATION. The quizzes are made with Quizlet : https://quizlet.com/

Each team creates a movies according to the storyboard they've prepared.

Each team shows their movie to their peers and get feedback.
Practice 30 minutes 5 students Tutor is available
Each team shares the quiz they've prepared with their peers. Then, they discuss on the
results.
Collaborate 30 minutes 15 students Tutor is not available
The 3 teams collaborate in order to create a poster on the ways the children can be safe
online. The use https://canva.com to create the infographic. Then, they use a large piece of
paper to create a poster for their school.

Every team presents their work.

They all assess themselves with the rubric the teacher has prepared. They also make a peer
review with the same rubric. In the end, they discuss their next steps on what project they
would like to do in the future.
