What we do?
Recycle non-biodegradable torn sports shoes into comfortable
footwear!
Problem
 Globally 150 crore sports shoes are manufactured.
• 35 crore pairs of these sports shoes are discarded each year
• 0.5% (75 lacs) are rejected as part of the manufacturing process
 Sports shoes have a shelf life
• They are not easy to repair
• Athletes discard 4 pairs of sport shoes in a year
 Discarded sports shoes are non-biodegradable and upon incineration
generate 30lbs of emissions/pair, equivalent to leaving a 100-watt
bulb burning for a week
 Non biodegradable materials used: PET, EVA, PU foam, nylon and
rubber
 Making sports shoes is a complex and intensive process involving
assembling up to 65 parts in 360 steps

Vision
 To provide footwear to protect millions of people who are
dying each year due to diseases caused by unprotected feet
 To give livelihood to the underprivileged sections of society
 To make footwear with an absolutely minimal carbon footprint
 To promote the culture of recycling
towards a sustainable tomorrow
How it Started..
 Being athletes we are forced to discard 3-4 pairs of sports shoes
each year due to excessive usage
 Idea developed while experimenting on our discarded sports shoes
where we sought to utilize them in a productive manner
 Earlier utilized for personal use but have now made this into a
social venture
Milestones
 December 2013, we developed this idea by experimenting on our own
discarded sports shoes
 April 2014, selected among top 30 innovators of the country by EDII,
Ahmadabad in their “launchpad” challenge
 August 2014, won ESENSEX business plan competition held by NEN at
Jai Hind College
 February 2015, won Technology and Sustainable Development Award
at Eureka 2015, Asia’s largest B-plan competition, were among top 25
start-ups of India by Tata First Dot 2015, developed product, got
patents, have partnerships, have started providing footwear to the needy
and also selling.

shoe but at a higher cost (to be launched in May, 2016)
 Rs. 749, high end recycled slippers to be housed at ethnic stores (to be
launched in Jan, 2016)

A lack of adequate footwear is more than a simple inconvenience or
lack of comfort

 Millions of people are infected by Hookworm, Elephantiasis and
Tungiasis and dying each year due to diseases contracted through
unprotected feet
 In villages people do not wear shoes, so we have developed a sturdy
recycled footwear which they can wear even while going to the fields for
farming
 Identified areas where people require footwear and at a later stage we will
be setting up recycling facilities in the villages itself

No company is providing this service and as per our market survey
it has got great traction
4.) High-end recycled footwear
Competes with recycled footwear made of different materials (jute,
used tires) in the same price range, but we also represent a social
cause unlike our competitors.
5.) Auctioning, refurbished-shoes of famous personalities
Something unique to our venture
6.) Helping companies like Nike and Adidas, recycle their defective
shoes (7.5 million/yr)

2.) The slippers will revolutionize the trekking industry by providing light
weight and durable footwear

people from the theatre who prefer comfortable slippers

  • 3. What we do? Recycle non-biodegradable torn sports shoes into comfortable footwear!

Problem  Globally 150 crore sports shoes are manufactured. • 35 crore pairs of these sports shoes are discarded each year • 0.5% (75 lacs) are rejected as part of the manufacturing process  Sports shoes have a shelf life • They are not easy to repair • Athletes discard 4 pairs of sport shoes in a year  Discarded sports shoes are non-biodegradable and upon incineration generate 30lbs of emissions/pair, equivalent to leaving a 100-watt bulb burning for a week
  • 5.  Non biodegradable materials used: PET, EVA, PU foam, nylon and rubber  Making sports shoes is a complex and intensive process involving assembling up to 65 parts in 360 steps Life Cycle Assessment

Vision  To provide footwear to protect millions of people who are dying each year due to diseases caused by unprotected feet  To give livelihood to the underprivileged sections of society  To make footwear with an absolutely minimal carbon footprint  To promote the culture of recycling towards a sustainable tomorrow

How it Started..  Being athletes we are forced to discard 3-4 pairs of sports shoes each year due to excessive usage  Idea developed while experimenting on our discarded sports shoes where we sought to utilize them in a productive manner  Earlier utilized for personal use but have now made this into a social venture
  • 8. Milestones  December 2013, we developed this idea by experimenting on our own discarded sports shoes  April 2014, selected among top 30 innovators of the country by EDII, Ahmadabad in their “launchpad” challenge  August 2014, won ESENSEX business plan competition held by NEN at Jai Hind College  February 2015, won Technology and Sustainable Development Award at Eureka 2015, Asia’s largest B-plan competition, were among top 25 start-ups of India by Tata First Dot 2015, developed product, got patents, have partnerships, have started providing footwear to the needy and also selling.

Versions of the Product  Rs. 149, for corporates/NGOs/sports organizations, ideal for fulfilling Corporate Social Responsibility  Rs. 249, general, sold in traditional retail and online stores  Rs. 299, customized, people giving their shoes get slippers of that very shoe but at a higher cost (to be launched in May, 2016)  Rs. 749, high end recycled slippers to be housed at ethnic stores (to be launched in Jan, 2016)  Profits from sales would be ploughed back into various related CSR initiatives

  • 18.  Millions of people are infected by Hookworm, Elephantiasis and Tungiasis and dying each year due to diseases contracted through unprotected feet  In villages people do not wear shoes, so we have developed a sturdy recycled footwear which they can wear even while going to the fields for farming  Identified areas where people require footwear and at a later stage we will be setting up recycling facilities in the villages itself
