1. Eminem
I’m going to print screen a few shots used in
Eminem's music video too ‘I’m not afraid’. The
selected shots are ones which I’d like too use in my
music video as they fit well with my genre Rap-pop
2. Establishing shot
I like how the shot shows the location which could relate to the atmosphere. I want to have a
shot similar too this, on top of a building to make my character look high up and the boss.
Close up
3. Close up
I like this shot as it shows his expressions which relate to his feelings, although I wouldn’t crop out his head.
Ariel shot
Sets the location and where he is stood. It exaggerates the closeness to the edge of the building.
4. Mid shot
Having a shot of him from the front and back stood in the same place allows him too be the main focus
point.
Mid shot
I like the idea of the setting on the stairs or in a abandoned looking location. This adds to the genre
of the song and the story meaning he’s rapping about.
5. Establishing shot
This angle shows the idea of an abandoned house and makes it original. I like fact that you can see
him as well as the location.
Mid shot
Moving towards the camera whilst the camera is moving back allows him to look like the dominant one.
6. Panning him walking aggressively across the abandoned
building which makes him look like he’s about to kick off.
Cuts too him pointing up which relates too the lyrics.
7. Edging himself closer to the edge becomes a narrative part of the shot. Makes it become tense and
dramatic. Brings the attention from the narrative shots in the house and brings it up the building too
to allow them to bend together.
The first narrative shot which doesn’t involve any performance. Him sat in the corner with her head in
his hands which expressed his feelings.
8. Locations-
On top a building
All performance shots
Narrative shots-
Feet movement.
Abandoned house
Performance shots-
Direct singing to camera
Narrative shots-
Holding a piece of paper and cornering the camera as if it is a person.
Walking across the house as looking like he’s getting more aggressive. Becoming the main narrative shot.
Constantly cutting back too on top the building which is the performance shots when the song becomes tense and dramatic.
Overall
This shows that in my performance shots I can add a little bit of narrative as well which will link well. After
watching this music video I am determined to find my own kind of abandoned ware house to film in to create the
stressed and dramatic atmosphere. Also, my narrative locations I can add in performance shots. Instead of having
just a location shoot which will be narrative and a Studio shoot which would be performance which was my
original plan, from the inspiration of this music video I’m going to do a bit of both.
