2. Intended audience:
Anyone (A typical high-school
student especially) who feels
alienated by all of the
hypocrites, phonies, and
jerks in the world who just
don’t get it .
4. Protagonist:
Holden Caulfield is a sixteen-
year-old young man who is a
self-described liar and hater
of “phonies”. He has just
been expelled from school
when the book begins.
5. Plot synopsis:
From his home in a mental
hospital, Holden tells the
story of three days of his life
in a flashback. The story is
about the trouble he is having
deciding how to become an
adult without becoming
phony and hypocritical like
other adults he knows.
6. Audio/Visual Joy:
No movie, surprisingly
buuuuuut, there is a great
student-made trailer of the
book that could help you
figure out what your book
trailer should look like for
your end-of-book project. Go
to the next slide.
