Middle School Strengths And Weaknesses
Throughout my entire middle school writing career, my writing techniques and skills have improved tremendously. Way back at the beginning of the
sixth grade, I thought writing a simple three–paragraph research essay was a lot. However, as my writing career continued, now at the end of the
eighth grade, I can easily write a three page essay, and even more. My strengths as a writer include using a variety of transition words, being able to
form simple and complex sentences, and finding strong pieces of evidence.
My greatest weakness, where I definitely need to improve, is with elaborating and connecting my evidence back to my claim.
There are a bunch of instances where my essays demonstrate my strengths and weaknesses. For instance, in my complex

Poor stacey. She's moved to a new town. She's still coming to terms with her diabetes. She's facing baby–sitting problems left and right. And her
parents are no help. Luckily, stacey has three new ,true friends: kristy, claudia , and mary anne. Together they're the BSC ,and and they will deal with

it was making the kids they were baby sitting very sad they were sad to because they were being replaced with older sitters that were in 8th grade

Argumentative Essay On School Start Time
Every morning students in the United States feel the effects the early start time many schools have implemented. These students are lethargic and
inattentive, due to the lack of sleep they are getting every night. Typically, adults see these characteristics as the result of teenagers staying up late
watching Netflix or using their cell phones. Many reputable organizations, such as the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of
Pediatrics, have researched this problem and found that teenagers are lacking in sleep due to biological and physiological changes that are occurring
within their brains. These shifts cause students to be more inattentive and reckless, resulting in lower grades, tardiness, and higher rates of car...show

By requiring teenagers to wake up early, school officials are basically neglecting the health of their student bodies in favor of making their lives
simpler. Despite the overwhelming evidence given by current research, many people refuse to change school start times because of the lack of
noticeable impact some schools had or the impact it had on some people's schedules. Pannoni cites a statement by the Iowa City Community School
District which found that "the later start time . . . [did] not reduce the number of tardy students by any appreciable amount." The principal of Ballard
High School agreed by saying that he "would be surprised to see large improvements in either attendance or grade data compared with past years"
(Pannoni). Many schools refused to change because of how the later start and dismissal times would affect extracurricular activities and students with
jobs. This change would also interfere with bus schedules and childcare habits. However, these seem like small problems that can be overcome when
the results are that "later school start times were associated with students sleeping longer at night, less tardiness, having higher test scores, being less
depressed, using less caffeine and other drugs, . . . and experiencing fewer morning car crashes" (Fenwick). The most compelling evidence that shows
changing school start

The fifteen year old teenager that has so far costed tens of thousands of acres to catch flame and many wild animals to die as well as three homes
lost to this fire. This all just happednd because of one teenage who thought it was funny to throw fireworks into the forest, Oregon's beautiful gorge
was scorched because of one kids stupid decision so I think that the best was to solve a problem like this is teach him and every other kid in school
about the earth and the environment.
This idea would work and prevent many other kids to make the same decisions and others like it. This would be a class in either middle school or high
school that wouldn't have that wouldn't have to be the same time as the other classes but will continue throughout

Argumentative Essay On Academic Competition
Competition. This word varies in connotation. To some, it symbolizes joy, triumph, and self–satisfaction, while for others the word represents
worthlessness and failure. Since an early age, kids are taught about competition through games and sports. Kids develop skills like sportsmanship,
integrity and fair play. Competition is like water in a sieve. To argue that competition does not exist is like saying that water is not leaking from a
sieve when only one hole is clogged. Competition is everywhere. In today's society, there has been a lot of controversy over academic competition in
school. Many see academic competition has a looming rain cloud that hangs over the students who excel differently, and cannot find success in the
standard school system. They see competition as emphasis on arbitrary performance. Yet, competition is not all that bad. Competition is what helps us
learn and grow as people. If students did not know the difference between a win or lose, then how would they know where to improve? Academic
competition gets a negative connotation, but in reality, it has an overall positive impact.
In a recent article, it was discussed how students are experiencing an overwhelming amount of stress from competition. Students, tired and sleep
deprived, dread school not because of the workload, but because of the academic competition. "While I understand that competition is an important
motivator to many students, I believe that our mental wellness would be significantly

Middle School Argumentative Essay
Middle school was a rough time like it was for many because I still did not even know who I was yet. MIddle school was very difficult to adjust to at
first because all my life I had only been in one class all day everyday with the same teacher and they made sure you always had a note to remind you of
your homework for the night. Middle school was when I began to make my own choices and had to suffer the consequences that came with those
choices. In middle school is when I found out how much I liked business because of a field trip my 6th grade year to Biztown which was a small
fake "community" that everyone worked in and would be a citizen in the town. Not all of middle school was good though because during this time is

Essay on Why Students Should Go to School
Why should students go to school?
There are several reasons why kids need to go to school but to me, the top three reasons are getting an education helps you go farther in life, it's
required by the state that you go till you reach a certain age, and it will help you learn social skills and help you be comfortable to talking to people.
Although students may not like going to school, it benefits them in the long run. It is important for students to go to school to get an education. Even
though some students may not like to go to school it is required that they go. Even though students may not realize it but they also learn social skills
by making friends and talking in front of people. It's significant for students to go to school so...show more content...
If you ever went into a business where you had to do a presentation on a piece of work you've been working on or if you came up with a new idea
that you thought could help your business, you would most likely have to present the information in front of your boss and coworkers. Having
social skills could play a big role in your presentation because if you was not comfortable talking in front of a crowd, then you could either: freeze
up while talking, talk too fast cause you're so nervous and want to get the presentation over with, your face could turn red, etc. But, if you had
social skills and were use to talking in front of a group of people then you will be comfortable presenting your project with no worries. Also by
socializing students can make friends. By making friends school could also be more enjoyable. You will have friends to eat lunch with; friends to
hang out with on the weekends and you will have friends in your classes so they will be less boring. If you went to a school where you didn't have
any friends or where you didn't like anyone, then you will not enjoy the activities you may do in class and you may want to change schools to find
kids that you do like and will enjoy being around. By having social skills it will help you talk to people and make friends.
Students may not like going to school but, it is for the best. By going to school students can get an education and get a job or go to college and

Argumentative Reflection
Argumentative Essay Reflection One of my central struggles throughout high school has been writing essays and reports for all classes not just
english. I was a little worried when I signed up to take this course, since it counted as a college credit. Even though I was worried about taking this
course, but I am thankful that I did. The main reason behind my decision to take this course is because I thought it would better prepare me for college.
This argumentative essay was one of the hardest essay that I have written. I have never written in this style before this essay. Even though, I have
never been the best writer, I have always got good grades. After receiving my first rough draft I knew this class was not going to be easy. The part

One of the areas of my writing where I was struggling in using my voice. Granite, there were parts of my essay where I successfully integrated
quotes within my voice, but for the most part that was my weakest area. For example of one of my better integrated quotes, in my third paragraph
when I say, "Today, consumers rely on social media for everything, whether it is communicating with old friends, finding new friends, shopping,
researching, and staying informed with the latest news. Daniel adds that, "'Americans who take part in political activities on social networking
sites also tend to be highly active in other areas of political or civic life'" (29), which insinuates that people rely on social media more today than we
have in the past". This was one of my better examples because I further explain and analyze the quote in my voice instead of just ending the
sentence after the quote. One of my poor examples is, "Many people who suffer from depression care a lot about what others think about them.
That is why many of those people tend to turn to social media as an outlet to express their feelings". I made a bold statement and did not back up
what I said with my voice I just ended that sentence and moved on. Instead of moving on I should have explained it further and told them why people
tend to turn to social media to express their feelings. One of the areas of my writing where I was

Argumentative Essay About Writing Class
Anne Tyler once said, "If I waited till I felt like writing, I'd never write at all." If this were true I would have failed out of my academic writing class.
I have pushed aside my past of procrastination and took in the new material. As a result of the class commas, run on sentences, and many other bad
writing habits are now becoming a thing of the past. Mr. Roth has illustrated to me and supplied me with material to learn how to write better. The
time I spend in or out of this class, I am trying to understand writing better. I have learned how to write better sentences, avoid small boring words,
and correctly quote sources, but I still need work on unnecessary punctuation, better topic. To improve something, usually takes time and since the
first day of class on August 19th my sentence writing has became exceptionally better. In my argumentative essay I used limited sentences structures
and had multiple fragments. In the essay I used two types of sentences I knew about, the others came by a way of accident. I only knew how to write
simple sentences and compound sentence. I could have made more complex sentences if didn't cut of sentences with a period. I later improved this in
a later assignment of proposing a solution, where we I knew how to write all four sentence types and this...show more content...
In my argumentative essay my quoting was way off;Chandler says in his reasoning, "They would have been demolished in a professional way." What
I learned is that, if you quote someone you put what they say and then their name at the end like (Mueller). The quotation marks end before the
author's name. I improved this in my proposing a solution essay. "choosing a locally owned store generates almost four times as much economic
benefit for the surrounding region as shopping at a chain" (Houston). I learned how to successful cite something in text and now am an improved

Failure is the step towards success. Do you agree?
It is often assumed that failure is a deterrent to achievement. Rather, failure should be seen as a motivator for a person to keep trying until the
objective or aim of a particular mission is fulfilled. Failure often times leads a person to feel helpless, disappointed and depressed. However, one should
not allow this to set them back in trying to achieve the ultimate aim one has set out to do. Failure in the beginning can often be a powerful incentive to
reassess one's position in wanting to achieve the particular aims; to analyse whether the purpose is worth the trouble the person has to undergo and the
whether the obstacles are surmountable. Practical and...show more content...
Another disadvantage of being an only is that he lacks companionship. He has no brother or sister to confide in. Growing up as an only child can
be very lonely. If you have siblings you will have to share everything, so you get less; but you also get less of the bad things. Siblings can support
and comfort each in times of trouble. The elder siblings learn to care for the younger ones and the younger ones learn to respect their elder siblings
and have someone to look up to besides their parents. You are more balanced person than an only child. Another advantage of having siblings is that
your parents' attention is divided among your siblings. As a result, there is less pressure on you to perform well, be it academically or in other areas.
Having siblings also means that you have companionship, the joy of caring and sharing, and security. I, personally, am happy that I am not an only child.
Students should not take up part time jobs. Discuss.
Nowadays, students love to have part–time jobs. Their parents approve it easily as they are said to gain experience from working. However, having a
job is a big responsibility for a student. Before, teenagers at their age were working to help their family because of poverty. Nevertheless, they were
actually eager to study and learn at school for their future. It was not the same as the teenagers nowadays where they are more likely competing to
each other to have a job. Most of the

Throughout every year in middle school, I noticed that my writing skills have improved dramatically. Starting middle school I feared that I wouldn't
create good enough stories or writings for my grades. Eventually as I started to write and get feedback, I knew that I was becoming a better writer.
Some of my strengths now are developing a claim, analysis writing, making it organized, and transitions. Although, I need to spend more time
proofreading and my approach to writing. As a writer, I have learned that there is always room for improvement. I feel like I need to improve
proofreading and my approach to writing. When I am given a writing assignment, I have a hard time of knowing where to start and when I am done

mistakes along the way. In my future writing assignments, my goal is to make sure that I know how to start my writing properly and taking extra time
to proofread the whole assignment. In middle school I have written a lot of different writings like argument, narrative, and analysis. My argument
writings are good, but they could have been better. For example, the gun debate and safe schools writing, I wrote, "Arming teachers is a terrible
strategy for decreasing the amount of school shootings. Instead, there should be stricter gun laws to prevent school shootings. Having metal detectors,

Argumentative Essay On Bullying
Bullying
Bullying happens everywhere, whether it is at work, school, or home, This is Where It Ends, evidence in the schools, and adult psychiatric health
problems later on in life, are some supporting evidence to show that this is an ongoing problem. According to stopbullying.gov bullying is described
as "An Imbalance of Power: Kids who bully use their power–such as physical strength, access to embarrassing information, or popularity–to control or
harm others. Power imbalances can change over time and in different situations, even if they involve the same people." Bullying helps someone have
dominance over another, it can boost their confidence, and self–esteem. Although bullying has been around for as long as anyone can remember, it is
just recently in the 2000s that is has received serious attention and research (Hymel). There have been many recent events that have focused on this
subject.
"13 Reasons Why", this is a very popular title that most teens, adults, and parents may know. This year, Netflix came out with the original series to
show what bullying can do. In the year of 2011 a 15 year–old girl named Amanda Todd, posted her story on Youtube (Dean). Amanda was seriously
bullied for something that she had done in her middle school past, and was now in high school. One day after school, Amanda was found lying in
a ditch by her father, right before she had been beaten up by a group of girl from her school. After, Amanda went home and drank bleach, it did not
kill her, a few months later, she tried to overdose on pill, that also did not kill her. After, she posted her story on YouTube, people were saying "you
should try killing yourself again", or "you deserve to die", "try drinking a different bleach next time". A month later she attempted suicide. Not only
was Amanda the victim of physical and social bullying, but she was also the victim of cyberbullying (Dean). Cyberbullying is social network
bullying, it can happen over Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat etc. This is now becoming more, and more popular as the world enters into a more
technology based times. Although cyberbullying is now very popular, physical and social bullying are still used today. There are many stories on the

At 0745 that morning, I did take my cell phone out of my pocket while at the front desk. There weren't any visitors present; it was 15 minutes until

actions done as to my supervisor duties were done via my personal cell phone. Never was there a policy or conversation told to me about being on
my cell phone. Not with Colonial Security or Pingry School. Pingry employees working outside, inside, office, and front desk, all walked around
talking, texting, using their personal cell phones. Employees of Colonial Security all contacted me via my personal cell phone during my
working hours. On the morning of July 5th, Mike Virzi (main boss with Pingry) walked up to the front desk talking loudly on his personal phone.
At that time, I was taking my phone out of my pocket to check messages. He asked if I was playing games, I replied "No". He then asked what I
was doing. I answered checking something. He stated to put your phone away. I paused for a second and looked at him, while putting my phone
away, I did ask him why? It was never an issue of me using my phone for the past 7 months working there. Mike Virzi was in a bad mood and had a
very disgusting attitude. He decided to project his personal problems unto me. I was then asked to leave for the remainder of my shift,

Argumentative Essay On Bullying In Schools
Imagine living in a world where education was a place where everyone got along and there were no issues for students to come across interrupting
their education and prevent them from learning. Nowadays, few students are afraid to speak and say what's on their mind because they are scared to
be who they are when they know there will be someone out there to harm them whether if it's mental or physical harm either way they can affect
students in the same way. Bullying can also inherent issues in learning institutions, but high school teenagers are bullied all over the internet and in
person as well. Even though teenagers use technology every day because of its availability and affordability, with no adult supervision since it's their
phone. Therefore, zero tolerance toward violence vs. bullying in schools damages student's education and can interpret their learning. Education is a
process that involves the transfer of knowledge, habit and skills from one generation to another through teaching. Cyber bullying has been a problem
for a very long time due to the development of our technology today. It has become one of the most difficult issues to resolve in our society because
bullying comes in all sorts of ways.. As Eckes & Russo state, "Student substance abuse in and around schools in the form of drugs and alcohol, along
with weapons–related violence" (2012). This indicates that cyber bullying comes in many different shapes, whether it's on the internet or at school.

Argumentative Essay Braden Rawson Social Networking or the use of specific websites or applications to interact with other users is one of the
many key and driving factors today in our world. We find ourselves lost for many minutes or possibly hours at a time on any particular app or
website. Looking deeper into the issue of social networking and its impact on our life, I highly doubt we have accomplished anything at all. A very
smart man once said, "Time is money." If that quote is true do we find ourselves in the twenty first century wasting money on pictures of people we
don't even know and moments we were not a part of? As technology has evolved and become so apart of our world its effect spread to all ends of the

ProCon.org reports that 59% of students with this access use social networking sites to discuss educational topics and 50% use the sites to talk about
school assignments. After the student leaves school grounds he or she is still required to complete various assignments or projects. With these comes
many questions or concerns on how the teacher may want a specific item completed, or even maybe how to even start an assignment. Social
networking and the ability to interact with fellow teachers and students after school hours is crucial to the success of every student. There truly is not
enough time in each school day to cover or complete all work that is necessary. With Facebook and our friends just a click away we enter in a world
of more focused student centered learning. Those self–driven students will seek our answers and solutions to any work assigned for outside of the
classroom. Collaborating and working with like–minded people will not only benefit them in the classroom, but also be a crucial skill in the work
force of our world. Social Networking brings along a few negative but controllable aspects. There are countless stories about people of all ages who
have been affected in some way or another by cyber bulling. The Story of Megan Meier was one that you will never forget. She hung herself in a
closet because a certain boy

Middle School Challenges
Middle school is a tough few years for many students. You are in a difficult stage in life, you're finally not a child anymore but are not yet a teenager.
Being stuck somewhere in between is hard and with that time comes a lot of challenges. When I was in sixth grade,I was the same way, trying to
adjust to switching classes, multiple teachers, friends changing and many other hurdles to overcome. I felt however that I like everyone else would
overcome it and be just fine. I had an average middle school career, until I was sitting in math and slowly things were not as I saw them.
In sixth grade I got my first failing grade. I am not the best math student ever, but I always try however, that year no matter how hard I was trying things

Writing In Middle School
I never knew writing had such an abundant amount of alternatives for words that you could tweak, and build your writing even superior. Over the
past two quarters of High School I have realized that there is a significant difference between what they expected you to write in Middle School, to
High School. The differences aren't something like "Okay, we expect you to write longer, and always give your information, but with a little something
different." It's more about making sure your word choice, vocabulary, and especially your grammar for the reason that those produce the most impact in
your writing. Middle School was more about teaching you how to start using the proper grammar, and vocabulary in your writing, but they do seem to

If you can make your conclusion correctly you can really wrap your writing together well, and it gives the writing another kick. To write a good
conclusion, DON'T! and I repeat DON'T! use the generic "In conclusion, blah blah blah..". Instead use something more unique. I personally like to
forget about using obvious throwaway words. Instead, finish with a definite statement, one which the rest of your essay proves conclusively to be
true. One example of how I did this is, "At the end of the story General Zaroff believes that Rainsford has simply given up and jumped off the cliffs
and into the sea to meet his death..." This is how I started my conclusion to "The Most Dangerous Game", a story about a man who is lost at sea,
and sees his only chance at survival.. an Island in the dark. Little did he know there was a man waiting for him to play a little game.. Also, don't
forget to restate your thesis statement in your conclusion. Restating your thesis statement is a MUST when you are writing your conclusion. The
completeness of my writing portfolio was I'd say mostly done. The only parts I'm missing are from before I moved here. Which include the "Copy of
Baseline Essay – Reflection and Prediction Essay", and the "Independent Reading Logs". Everything that I needed to work on, and pass in from the
future on from then was turned in

Middle School Writing Skills and Room for Improvement

  • 1. Middle School Strengths And Weaknesses Throughout my entire middle school writing career, my writing techniques and skills have improved tremendously. Way back at the beginning of the sixth grade, I thought writing a simple three–paragraph research essay was a lot. However, as my writing career continued, now at the end of the eighth grade, I can easily write a three page essay, and even more. My strengths as a writer include using a variety of transition words, being able to form simple and complex sentences, and finding strong pieces of evidence. My greatest weakness, where I definitely need to improve, is with elaborating and connecting my evidence back to my claim. There are a bunch of instances where my essays demonstrate my strengths and weaknesses. For instance, in my complex Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Many middle school students are looking forward to high school. Most are looking forward to graduate and get a scholarship, but others are waiting to make new friends and to meet new teachers.Unfortunately, most students don't want to have a good life and not graduate.Students are looking up for getting their driver's license and drive to school.High school is mostly about sports. • 3. Argumentative Essay: Middle School Poor stacey. She's moved to a new town. She's still coming to terms with her diabetes. She's facing baby–sitting problems left and right. And her parents are no help. Luckily, stacey has three new ,true friends: kristy, claudia , and mary anne. Together they're the BSC ,and and they will deal with whatever's thrown their way– even if it's a rival baby–sitting club. The baby sitters club are going against babysitting agency that they was amazing but it was making the kids they were baby sitting very sad they were sad to because they were being replaced with older sitters that were in 8th grade and they were only in 6th grade and could only stay out till 9:00 or 9:30 when the babysitting agency could stay out till 10:00 or 11:00 and that made Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Argumentative Essay On School Start Time Every morning students in the United States feel the effects the early start time many schools have implemented. These students are lethargic and inattentive, due to the lack of sleep they are getting every night. Typically, adults see these characteristics as the result of teenagers staying up late watching Netflix or using their cell phones. Many reputable organizations, such as the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics, have researched this problem and found that teenagers are lacking in sleep due to biological and physiological changes that are occurring within their brains. These shifts cause students to be more inattentive and reckless, resulting in lower grades, tardiness, and higher rates of car...show more content... By requiring teenagers to wake up early, school officials are basically neglecting the health of their student bodies in favor of making their lives simpler. Despite the overwhelming evidence given by current research, many people refuse to change school start times because of the lack of noticeable impact some schools had or the impact it had on some people's schedules. Pannoni cites a statement by the Iowa City Community School District which found that "the later start time . . . [did] not reduce the number of tardy students by any appreciable amount." The principal of Ballard High School agreed by saying that he "would be surprised to see large improvements in either attendance or grade data compared with past years" (Pannoni). Many schools refused to change because of how the later start and dismissal times would affect extracurricular activities and students with jobs. This change would also interfere with bus schedules and childcare habits. However, these seem like small problems that can be overcome when the results are that "later school start times were associated with students sleeping longer at night, less tardiness, having higher test scores, being less depressed, using less caffeine and other drugs, . . . and experiencing fewer morning car crashes" (Fenwick). The most compelling evidence that shows changing school start Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Argumentative Essay: Middle School Or High School The fifteen year old teenager that has so far costed tens of thousands of acres to catch flame and many wild animals to die as well as three homes lost to this fire. This all just happednd because of one teenage who thought it was funny to throw fireworks into the forest, Oregon's beautiful gorge was scorched because of one kids stupid decision so I think that the best was to solve a problem like this is teach him and every other kid in school about the earth and the environment. This idea would work and prevent many other kids to make the same decisions and others like it. This would be a class in either middle school or high school that wouldn't have that wouldn't have to be the same time as the other classes but will continue throughout Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Argumentative Essay On Academic Competition Competition. This word varies in connotation. To some, it symbolizes joy, triumph, and self–satisfaction, while for others the word represents worthlessness and failure. Since an early age, kids are taught about competition through games and sports. Kids develop skills like sportsmanship, integrity and fair play. Competition is like water in a sieve. To argue that competition does not exist is like saying that water is not leaking from a sieve when only one hole is clogged. Competition is everywhere. In today's society, there has been a lot of controversy over academic competition in school. Many see academic competition has a looming rain cloud that hangs over the students who excel differently, and cannot find success in the standard school system. They see competition as emphasis on arbitrary performance. Yet, competition is not all that bad. Competition is what helps us learn and grow as people. If students did not know the difference between a win or lose, then how would they know where to improve? Academic competition gets a negative connotation, but in reality, it has an overall positive impact. In a recent article, it was discussed how students are experiencing an overwhelming amount of stress from competition. Students, tired and sleep deprived, dread school not because of the workload, but because of the academic competition. "While I understand that competition is an important motivator to many students, I believe that our mental wellness would be significantly Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Middle School Argumentative Essay Middle school was a rough time like it was for many because I still did not even know who I was yet. MIddle school was very difficult to adjust to at first because all my life I had only been in one class all day everyday with the same teacher and they made sure you always had a note to remind you of your homework for the night. Middle school was when I began to make my own choices and had to suffer the consequences that came with those choices. In middle school is when I found out how much I liked business because of a field trip my 6th grade year to Biztown which was a small fake "community" that everyone worked in and would be a citizen in the town. Not all of middle school was good though because during this time is when I realized how Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Essay on Why Students Should Go to School Why should students go to school? There are several reasons why kids need to go to school but to me, the top three reasons are getting an education helps you go farther in life, it's required by the state that you go till you reach a certain age, and it will help you learn social skills and help you be comfortable to talking to people. Although students may not like going to school, it benefits them in the long run. It is important for students to go to school to get an education. Even though some students may not like to go to school it is required that they go. Even though students may not realize it but they also learn social skills by making friends and talking in front of people. It's significant for students to go to school so...show more content... If you ever went into a business where you had to do a presentation on a piece of work you've been working on or if you came up with a new idea that you thought could help your business, you would most likely have to present the information in front of your boss and coworkers. Having social skills could play a big role in your presentation because if you was not comfortable talking in front of a crowd, then you could either: freeze up while talking, talk too fast cause you're so nervous and want to get the presentation over with, your face could turn red, etc. But, if you had social skills and were use to talking in front of a group of people then you will be comfortable presenting your project with no worries. Also by socializing students can make friends. By making friends school could also be more enjoyable. You will have friends to eat lunch with; friends to hang out with on the weekends and you will have friends in your classes so they will be less boring. If you went to a school where you didn't have any friends or where you didn't like anyone, then you will not enjoy the activities you may do in class and you may want to change schools to find kids that you do like and will enjoy being around. By having social skills it will help you talk to people and make friends. Students may not like going to school but, it is for the best. By going to school students can get an education and get a job or go to college and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Argumentative Reflection Argumentative Essay Reflection One of my central struggles throughout high school has been writing essays and reports for all classes not just english. I was a little worried when I signed up to take this course, since it counted as a college credit. Even though I was worried about taking this course, but I am thankful that I did. The main reason behind my decision to take this course is because I thought it would better prepare me for college. This argumentative essay was one of the hardest essay that I have written. I have never written in this style before this essay. Even though, I have never been the best writer, I have always got good grades. After receiving my first rough draft I knew this class was not going to be easy. The part ...show more content... One of the areas of my writing where I was struggling in using my voice. Granite, there were parts of my essay where I successfully integrated quotes within my voice, but for the most part that was my weakest area. For example of one of my better integrated quotes, in my third paragraph when I say, "Today, consumers rely on social media for everything, whether it is communicating with old friends, finding new friends, shopping, researching, and staying informed with the latest news. Daniel adds that, "'Americans who take part in political activities on social networking sites also tend to be highly active in other areas of political or civic life'" (29), which insinuates that people rely on social media more today than we have in the past". This was one of my better examples because I further explain and analyze the quote in my voice instead of just ending the sentence after the quote. One of my poor examples is, "Many people who suffer from depression care a lot about what others think about them. That is why many of those people tend to turn to social media as an outlet to express their feelings". I made a bold statement and did not back up what I said with my voice I just ended that sentence and moved on. Instead of moving on I should have explained it further and told them why people tend to turn to social media to express their feelings. • 10. Argumentative Essay About Writing Class Anne Tyler once said, "If I waited till I felt like writing, I'd never write at all." If this were true I would have failed out of my academic writing class. I have pushed aside my past of procrastination and took in the new material. As a result of the class commas, run on sentences, and many other bad writing habits are now becoming a thing of the past. Mr. Roth has illustrated to me and supplied me with material to learn how to write better. The time I spend in or out of this class, I am trying to understand writing better. I have learned how to write better sentences, avoid small boring words, and correctly quote sources, but I still need work on unnecessary punctuation, better topic. To improve something, usually takes time and since the first day of class on August 19th my sentence writing has became exceptionally better. In my argumentative essay I used limited sentences structures and had multiple fragments. In the essay I used two types of sentences I knew about, the others came by a way of accident. I only knew how to write simple sentences and compound sentence. I could have made more complex sentences if didn't cut of sentences with a period. I later improved this in a later assignment of proposing a solution, where we I knew how to write all four sentence types and this...show more content... In my argumentative essay my quoting was way off;Chandler says in his reasoning, "They would have been demolished in a professional way." What I learned is that, if you quote someone you put what they say and then their name at the end like (Mueller). The quotation marks end before the author's name. I improved this in my proposing a solution essay. "choosing a locally owned store generates almost four times as much economic benefit for the surrounding region as shopping at a chain" (Houston). • 11. Argumentative Essays Failure is the step towards success. Do you agree? It is often assumed that failure is a deterrent to achievement. Rather, failure should be seen as a motivator for a person to keep trying until the objective or aim of a particular mission is fulfilled. Failure often times leads a person to feel helpless, disappointed and depressed. However, one should not allow this to set them back in trying to achieve the ultimate aim one has set out to do. Failure in the beginning can often be a powerful incentive to reassess one's position in wanting to achieve the particular aims; to analyse whether the purpose is worth the trouble the person has to undergo and the whether the obstacles are surmountable. Practical and...show more content... Another disadvantage of being an only is that he lacks companionship. He has no brother or sister to confide in. Growing up as an only child can be very lonely. If you have siblings you will have to share everything, so you get less; but you also get less of the bad things. Siblings can support and comfort each in times of trouble. The elder siblings learn to care for the younger ones and the younger ones learn to respect their elder siblings and have someone to look up to besides their parents. You are more balanced person than an only child. Another advantage of having siblings is that your parents' attention is divided among your siblings. However, having a job is a big responsibility for a student. Before, teenagers at their age were working to help their family because of poverty. Nevertheless, they were actually eager to study and learn at school for their future. It was not the same as the teenagers nowadays where they are more likely competing to each other to have a job. Most of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Throughout every year in middle school, I noticed that my writing skills have improved dramatically. Starting middle school I feared that I wouldn't create good enough stories or writings for my grades. Eventually as I started to write and get feedback, I knew that I was becoming a better writer. Some of my strengths now are developing a claim, analysis writing, making it organized, and transitions. Although, I need to spend more time proofreading and my approach to writing. As a writer, I have learned that there is always room for improvement. I feel like I need to improve proofreading and my approach to writing. When I am given a writing assignment, I have a hard time of knowing where to start and when I am done with my paper, I don't really read over it as a whole that much. In my future writing assignments, my goal is to make sure that I know how to start my writing properly and taking extra time to proofread the whole assignment. In middle school I have written a lot of different writings like argument, narrative, and analysis. My argument writings are good, but they could have been better. For example, the gun debate and safe schools writing, I wrote, "Arming teachers is a terrible strategy for decreasing the amount of school shootings. • 14. Argumentative Essay On Bullying Bullying Bullying happens everywhere, whether it is at work, school, or home, This is Where It Ends, evidence in the schools, and adult psychiatric health problems later on in life, are some supporting evidence to show that this is an ongoing problem. According to stopbullying.gov bullying is described as "An Imbalance of Power: Kids who bully use their power–such as physical strength, access to embarrassing information, or popularity–to control or harm others. Power imbalances can change over time and in different situations, even if they involve the same people." Bullying helps someone have dominance over another, it can boost their confidence, and self–esteem. Although bullying has been around for as long as anyone can remember, it is just recently in the 2000s that is has received serious attention and research (Hymel). There have been many recent events that have focused on this subject. "13 Reasons Why", this is a very popular title that most teens, adults, and parents may know. This year, Netflix came out with the original series to show what bullying can do. In the year of 2011 a 15 year–old girl named Amanda Todd, posted her story on Youtube (Dean). Amanda was seriously bullied for something that she had done in her middle school past, and was now in high school. One day after school, Amanda was found lying in a ditch by her father, right before she had been beaten up by a group of girl from her school. After, Amanda went home and drank bleach, it did not kill her, a few months later, she tried to overdose on pill, that also did not kill her. After, she posted her story on YouTube, people were saying "you should try killing yourself again", or "you deserve to die", "try drinking a different bleach next time". A month later she attempted suicide. Not only was Amanda the victim of physical and social bullying, but she was also the victim of cyberbullying (Dean). Cyberbullying is social network bullying, it can happen over Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat etc. This is now becoming more, and more popular as the world enters into a more technology based times. Although cyberbullying is now very popular, physical and social bullying are still used today. There are many stories on the internet about Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The reasons stated for my termination were incorrect and false. The decision made by Unemployment Insurance was based off incorrect information. I worked as the Security Supervisor for Colonial Security Services. We were contracted to work for a private school called Pingry School. My hours were overnight from Sunday 11pm–8am. Overnight there wasn't anyone in the building that allowed us to not wear our full uniform until it was time to be posted at the front desk at 6am. At 0745 that morning, I did take my cell phone out of my pocket while at the front desk. There weren't any visitors present; it was 15 minutes until the end of my shift. I do have a daughter and checked if I had any messages regarding her. The time it took to check was 10 seconds (if that). All actions done as to my supervisor duties were done via my personal cell phone. Never was there a policy or conversation told to me about being on my cell phone. Not with Colonial Security or Pingry School. Pingry employees working outside, inside, office, and front desk, all walked around talking, texting, using their personal cell phones. Employees of Colonial Security all contacted me via my personal cell phone during my working hours. On the morning of July 5th, Mike Virzi (main boss with Pingry) walked up to the front desk talking loudly on his personal phone. At that time, I was taking my phone out of my pocket to check messages. He asked if I was playing games, I replied "No". He then asked what I was doing. I answered checking something. He stated to put your phone away. I paused for a second and looked at him, while putting my phone away, I did ask him why? It was never an issue of me using my phone for the past 7 months working there. Mike Virzi was in a bad mood and had a very disgusting attitude. He decided to project his personal problems unto me. I was then asked to leave for the remainder of my shift, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Argumentative Essay On Bullying In Schools Imagine living in a world where education was a place where everyone got along and there were no issues for students to come across interrupting their education and prevent them from learning. Nowadays, few students are afraid to speak and say what's on their mind because they are scared to be who they are when they know there will be someone out there to harm them whether if it's mental or physical harm either way they can affect students in the same way. Bullying can also inherent issues in learning institutions, but high school teenagers are bullied all over the internet and in person as well. Even though teenagers use technology every day because of its availability and affordability, with no adult supervision since it's their phone. Therefore, zero tolerance toward violence vs. bullying in schools damages student's education and can interpret their learning. Education is a process that involves the transfer of knowledge, habit and skills from one generation to another through teaching. Cyber bullying has been a problem for a very long time due to the development of our technology today. It has become one of the most difficult issues to resolve in our society because bullying comes in all sorts of ways.. As Eckes & Russo state, "Student substance abuse in and around schools in the form of drugs and alcohol, along with weapons–related violence" (2012). This indicates that cyber bullying comes in many different shapes, whether it's on the internet or at school. Many high Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Argumentative Essay Argumentative Essay Braden Rawson Social Networking or the use of specific websites or applications to interact with other users is one of the many key and driving factors today in our world. We find ourselves lost for many minutes or possibly hours at a time on any particular app or website. Looking deeper into the issue of social networking and its impact on our life, I highly doubt we have accomplished anything at all. A very smart man once said, "Time is money." If that quote is true do we find ourselves in the twenty first century wasting money on pictures of people we don't even know and moments we were not a part of? As technology has evolved and become so apart of our world its effect spread to all ends of the spectrum of every...show more content... ProCon.org reports that 59% of students with this access use social networking sites to discuss educational topics and 50% use the sites to talk about school assignments. After the student leaves school grounds he or she is still required to complete various assignments or projects. With these comes many questions or concerns on how the teacher may want a specific item completed, or even maybe how to even start an assignment. Social networking and the ability to interact with fellow teachers and students after school hours is crucial to the success of every student. There truly is not enough time in each school day to cover or complete all work that is necessary. With Facebook and our friends just a click away we enter in a world of more focused student centered learning. Those self–driven students will seek our answers and solutions to any work assigned for outside of the classroom. Collaborating and working with like–minded people will not only benefit them in the classroom, but also be a crucial skill in the work force of our world. Social Networking brings along a few negative but controllable aspects. There are countless stories about people of all ages who have been affected in some way or another by cyber bulling. The Story of Megan Meier was one that you will never forget. She hung herself in a closet because a certain boy Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Middle School Challenges Middle school is a tough few years for many students. You are in a difficult stage in life, you're finally not a child anymore but are not yet a teenager. Being stuck somewhere in between is hard and with that time comes a lot of challenges. When I was in sixth grade,I was the same way, trying to adjust to switching classes, multiple teachers, friends changing and many other hurdles to overcome. I felt however that I like everyone else would overcome it and be just fine. I had an average middle school career, until I was sitting in math and slowly things were not as I saw them. In sixth grade I got my first failing grade. I am not the best math student ever, but I always try however, that year no matter how hard I was trying things Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Writing In Middle School I never knew writing had such an abundant amount of alternatives for words that you could tweak, and build your writing even superior. Over the past two quarters of High School I have realized that there is a significant difference between what they expected you to write in Middle School, to High School. The differences aren't something like "Okay, we expect you to write longer, and always give your information, but with a little something different." It's more about making sure your word choice, vocabulary, and especially your grammar for the reason that those produce the most impact in your writing. Middle School was more about teaching you how to start using the proper grammar, and vocabulary in your writing, but they do seem to make us...show more content... If you can make your conclusion correctly you can really wrap your writing together well, and it gives the writing another kick. To write a good conclusion, DON'T! and I repeat DON'T! use the generic "In conclusion, blah blah blah..". Instead use something more unique. I personally like to forget about using obvious throwaway words. Instead, finish with a definite statement, one which the rest of your essay proves conclusively to be true. One example of how I did this is, "At the end of the story General Zaroff believes that Rainsford has simply given up and jumped off the cliffs and into the sea to meet his death..." This is how I started my conclusion to "The Most Dangerous Game", a story about a man who is lost at sea, and sees his only chance at survival.. an Island in the dark. Little did he know there was a man waiting for him to play a little game.. Also, don't forget to restate your thesis statement in your conclusion. Restating your thesis statement is a MUST when you are writing your conclusion. The completeness of my writing portfolio was I'd say mostly done. The only parts I'm missing are from before I moved here. Which include the "Copy of Baseline Essay – Reflection and Prediction Essay", and the "Independent Reading Logs".
