This document provides an overview of several networking devices: hub, switch, router, modem, and bridge. It describes each device's function at a high level. Hubs are not intelligent devices and broadcast all data to all connected networks, while switches are intelligent and assign unique MAC addresses. Routers connect different networks and modems convert analog to digital signals or vice versa. Bridges connect two separate networks and act as a bridge between them.
