2. Tip 01: Do Exercises to Improve the Trait
Always try to do basic exercises, such as
tracings, circles, parallel lines, spirals,
squares, triangles, etc… In order to
improve your motor coordination, and
make your features firmer.
I for one like to do these exercises for at
least 5 minutes before actually starting
to draw, as a form of warm-up.

3. Tip 02: Study of Observation
Observing things more will make you a better
draftsman. So before you start drawing things, it is
extremely important that you observe what you
want to draw, notice the details and try to mentally
deconstruct with the basic shapes.
With this you will surely stop making mistakes in
proportions, alignment or even that boring thing of
drawing and the drawing doesn't fit on the sheet,
in addition to many other benefits.
You need to keep in mind how you will transcribe
that image onto paper. That's why observing
things more will make you a better draftsman.

4. Tip 03: Draw Big
One of the biggest mistakes I see beginners make
is to be shy when drawing and end up doing very
small drawings, consequently they can't add some
details to the drawing.
So what I recommend is that you make reasonably
large drawings, where you can add small details
without problems.
So keep in mind that the smaller the design you
make, the more complicated it will be to add your
details, especially the smaller ones.

5. Tip 04: Use References
It's no use wanting to draw a train if you don't know the
proportions, the details and everything else... You've
probably seen a train, you know what it looks like, but the
image is vague in your mind. So if I asked you to draw a train
right now with just your memory, would you be able to?
That's why using references is of great help. After studying
using references and knowing how to deconstruct and re-
build a train, it would be easier to draw just using memory,
as you would have already studied and trained the brain for
this situation, do you agree?
So whenever you study something in specific, always
remember to have references at hand.

6. Tip 05: Challenge yourself
Challenging yourself is the best thing a draftsman can do,
as it will provide a great improvement in your observation
and in your traits.
You know that drawing where you look at it and say "Too
difficult, I won't be able to do it"?
Stop thinking that way and change your thinking to "Very
hard, I'll try to do it!", and you will see that by the end of the
drawing you will have absorbed a lot of good things, even if
the drawing turned out very bad or totally wrong.
