Leadership Philosophy
Leadership encompasses the world around us, and is seen in some shape or form every single day. Without it, there would be no sense of direction
for anyone, people would be lost. Leaders are those who take initiative to do what others won't. Those who strive to make a difference in our ill
directed world and guide those who need to be guided, or pushed, further than they deem themselves capable. Leadership doesn't take enormous
physical strength or even a booming voice. All it takes is a strong mind, full heart, and a purpose. Throughout history, leaders and their leadership have
sculpted us into what we are today. From Alexander the Great to Winston Churchill, and all others in between and current, they impact our lives,
somehow, every single...show more content...
No matter the career, the upbringing, or any other factor at all, the impact on society that every individual holds is so powerful. Leadership can
create or destroy, it's all just in the hands of the leader themselves. Because if the parents fail child, it's up to the teacher to grasp onto and find
what makes that child them, to make them feel whole and lead the way for them as much as possible; and thats just a tiny example. That's what
makes it such an incredible and vital peace of our lives, because we learn a lesson, or many, from every person throughout. And like I said,
leadership doesn't take enormous physical strength or even a booming voice, all it takes is a strong mind, full heart, and a purpose. It's up to us, each
and every one of us, to find our purpose, to fill the hearts of those who are struggling, and to show them that each and every one of us was put on this
earth for a reason, that no matter their race, their weight, or any other insignificant matter, they are can be anyone they want to be. The sky is the

Leadership Philosophy Essay
"Leadership is ultimately about creating a way for people to contribute to making something extraordinary in the organization" I like this because I
believe leaders should help us do not a good job, but a great job.
"Leadership is a process by which one person influences the thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors of others. Leaders set a direction for the rest of us;
they help us see what lies ahead; they help us visualize what we might achieve; they encourage us and inspire us" (Mills, 2005). I believe in as a
leader inspire the people from involvement and realize them to a part of something special in that case leader also learn something new from followers.

Organizations need both leadership and management because leadership is necessary to change and management is necessary to achieve orderly
results. In class we learned "The challenge of leadership is to be strong not rude." This makes me think about the important qualities of a good
leader. I believe that a good leader should have positive energy because "Leadership is where the leader depends on his/her energy to inspire staff.
The leader inspires team with their vision of what should happen. They supply the main goal, but allow members to choose their own way of reaching
it." (How to find out your style of leadership).
There are many other qualities of a good leader, including humility, integrity, humors, and communication skills. I know all attributes are important but
in my opinion effective communication skill is most important because it is the best way to express your ideas and views clearly, confidently and
concisely in speech. A good communicator can tailor his or her content and style to the audience and promote free–flowing

My Personal Leadership Philosophy Essay
According to Webster's Dictionary, leadership is the power or ability to lead other people, the act or instance of leading. I believe that Leadership
is an art, the art to get others to follow and accomplish a common goal or task in a harmonic manner. A leader can be shown in all kinds of shapes
and forms. To be a great leader many people believe it consists of modeling the way, inspiring a shared vision, enabling others to act, and
encouraging the heart. Over the course of me learning how to become a better leader and being in leadership roles, I've learned that all these are very
necessary to be a great leader. The person you least expect can be a leader in their on right. We have great world leaders such as our President Barack

With having such a demanding major, you can sometimes find yourself getting down and becoming stressed. I have had to experience teamwork of
all forms through out my eighteen years and faith has defiantly gotten me through. I was once told "faith begins where your comfort zone ends."
With my career goal is to become a nurse; just not ole any nurse, a great one. My strengths are very important to have. Faith is needed to help get
through tough days and to also spiritually help your patients. I feel like whenever you do a task it should be done with integrity. Being a nurse, you
have to be strong–minded and also able to heal and comfort mentally, emotionally, and physically, all great signs of a leader. You always have to
remember that you can't always do everything alone. Teamwork is very important in the healthcare field. Each job is important and is connected to
one another. Communication is the key to many careers and very important to nursing because you have to build positive relationships with the
people and patients around you. Growth should never end. Becoming better in what you do is always important in becoming a better you. I would
say for me to work better at having ambition, I should try to trust more and be more positive. I should also remain focus on my common clear goals.
My Career of choice is to become a Registered Nurse. The jobs includes details in administering medicines to patients, cleaning and

Leadership Philosophy Essay
The definition of leadership comes from within each person. Every person has his or her own interpretation of how a leadership should be defined.
This definition most likely comes from past experiences under leadership or being the leader. My personal definition is very lengthy because I feel
like leadership is very important. Leadership is not defined by the "title" of a person. An authority figure does not always hold the leadership role.
Your best friend could be showing leadership. Leadership is defined as what someone does that impacts your life and makes you go in the right
direction. Through leadership, the leader shapes who you are and who you will become. Although we like to think that leadership is good most of the
time;...show more content...
The impact leadership has on our lives shape us even after the leader is gone. For example, Martin Luther King was such a great leader that even
now his leadership is still shown through others. Although I have stated my lengthy definition of leadership, there is one thing that really defines
leadership. The definition of leadership is truly the actions of a leader that help you become closer and closer to achieving what you want in life.
If leadership is not helping you achieve your goals, then you are probably following the wrong leader. You should always follow leadership that is
going to help and not hurt you. As I reflect back to my past experiences under leadership from others, there are a lot of people that come to mind.
One person that really sticks out would be my father. He has always been a wonderful leader for me and my family. There were many times in his life
where he had to be a strong leader. One very stressful times would be when my sister was born. My mom had a lot of trouble having my sister, and was
in the hospital for almost a year after she was born. My dad had to then take on the role of having a five year old, a newborn, a sick wife, and a job all
by himself. In the middle of all of this, the company he worked for shut down. He was stressed, but that is when his leadership role really showed.
Leadership qualities like courage, focus, adaptability, and

My Leadership Philosophy
There are several characteristics a person in a leadership role should portray. My philosophy of leadership encompasses characteristics such as
compassion, collaboration, innovation, perseverance, and competence. I believe to be a competent leader one must be authentic to one's self and
beliefs. One must know where he or she stands concerning ethics and innovations surrounding the education field. A leader must convey understanding,
be on the forefront of research, advocate for colleagues and students, and collaborate with other professionals. In order to lead, one must be
compassionate. I have learned that a professional who depicts positive leadership is kind–hearted and understanding. There will be times and situations

by being aware of the latest evidence based research, by collaborating with my colleagues, and by pursuing more about the field of education through
continuing my education as a high–quality teacher. An effective educator must be proficient in the skills needed to be a leader. If one is not competent

Essay On Leadership Philosophy
Leadership is a powerful word. It can represent the good or bad in a person. When I think of leadership, I think of the people in my life who have
accomplished a great deal to help others. I noticed that all of them have their own values and ways of accomplishing greatness in their life. I believe
that in order for me to be successful as a leader, it is essential that you understand my own personal beliefs and values.
My leadership philosophy is driven by the Army Values and the NCO Creed. There's only one way to be an NCO and that's following the creed. I
want the Soldiers I support to be more effective than I am. I want them to share what they learn with their Soldiers so we continue to have an effective

All of the people that I work with are important and key to the success of the organization. I am learning every day from them as they are learning
from me.
I am a leader to help others. I do not do things to benefit myself. I am very good at helping people find the resources that they might need to assist
them through the issues they are going through. I am here to encourage and help others when it is needed. I will be sure to have an open line of
communication to better understand the key issues that I need to focused on. It is also extremely important for you to know that you can approach me
any time when you need assistance or have ideas that you would like to share.
My expectation for my subordinates is to learn as much as you can about what you do and as much as you can about the institution. Once that occurs,
you can clearly fit and you can better execute your responsibilities.
Through this philosophy I will lead you through the exercise of the above mentioned values, beliefs, and expectations. As stated in the NCO Creed, "I

My definition of leadership is, "Leadership is the art of providing challenges, opportunities and direction to others in an effort to motivate them towards
providing sustainable solutions or completing pre–determined objectives or tasks. My positive Leadership influences during my Coast Guard career
include a Damage Control Chief, who provided countless challenging opportunities, a Boatswain Mate Chief who went out his way to recognize

I expect every member to operate in alignment of our core values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to duty. A high level of mutual trust and respect
is an instrumental requirement to have a good leadership experience. In addition, I pride myself in saying and demonstrating that I have done
everything I am asking of my shipmates as well. If a problem can't be solved I am the type of person to ask questions enabling my team to half step
and recognize the problem, putting them on the right path to success or provide on the spot training if needed. It is fundamental to lead by
example, for instance completing physical fitness activities, volunteering for outreach opportunities, and the same types of extra command
sponsored committees you are asking your shipmates to volunteer for. As long as the trust factor is 100% I am a firm believer of stating objectives
and boundaries, then empowering people to do the right thing, while occasionally verifying folks are on the right track. As part of my role as a
senior leader I also make a point to work harder than ever to provide opportunities to further diversify my crew's knowledge and skills through new
personal and professional training, or special projects, while also doing everything I can to support them while they feverishly lay it all on the line to

Philosophy Of Leadership And Leadership
Philosophy of Leadership Who has ever wondered how their philosophy of leadership came into existence? Do exceptional leaders possess something
others do not? The two questions have a direct relationship to each other. The answer to each question is becoming an outstanding leader takes work
and dedication for achieving continual self–improvement. An amazing leader is always growing and improving themselves, as well as, others.
Furthermore, if the individual as a leader is not continually improving, then growth will cease and future expectations become disappointments.
Developing a philosophy of leadership requires the ability to be open–minded, love others, and serve people. God designs people differently making
them each unique. It is...show more content...
The difference between management and leadership is leaders lead people, and things require being managed (Hunter, 2012). Ensuring equal and fair
treatment for human beings with the same fundamental human right will assist an individual developing their leadership philosophy. Therefore, I will
strive to take a moment and reflect on at least one specific situation throughout the day with an anticipation of handling it differently than I would
have in the past. Keeping an open mind for differences of opinions or different methods of completing tasks is difficult. I have discovered treating
others, as I want them to treat me, is not an effortless task at times. I struggle with the acceptance and understanding of people handling situations
differently than how I would handle them. The method in which completion took place is irrelevant, aside moral and ethical differences, if
completing the task with suitable standards. Learning to develop and grow my thought processes has allowed me to demonstrate similar behaviors to
others. Treating others from a comparable behavioral mindset and attitude will promote my increasing ability to lead and love others. Individuals
need to love others in the form of a verb and not a feeling. Loving others as a verb is a difficult task when not approached from a servant–leadership
style. The adage of actions speaking louder than words and the golden rule holds

Vision of Leadership Philosophy Essay
Vision of Leadership From research we see that there are many qualities that people value in leaders. Some of these qualities include: having high
standards, supportive, inquisitive, involved, honest and having integrity. When I think about leadership I think of a person who is self–aware and
always striving for improvement. To be a good leader you need to know how your personal biases may impact decision making in various situations.
Bias or values can effect how you interact with those you come in contact with on a daily basis. A good leader can set the tone for students, staff, and
parents by being consistent and clear in thoughts and in actions. The leader is the foundation of the building.

In order for the principal to develop positive relationships within the community the school needs to demonstrate, and promote the contributions
provided. The school needs to adopt an "our children" attitude with the community to share in the benefits for students (Epstein, 2009). Self–Awareness
and Leadership An effective leader needs to be genuine and true to the values he holds. If the leader is not honest with those he interacts with,
they will not trust him for long. Being clear about values allows the leader to help establish a solid setting for the community to build upon. Strong
leaders demonstrate the following values: being trustworthy, caring, focused, flexible, direct, knowledgeable, and approachable. By having a
foundation that focuses on the importance of education an instructional leader can focus on clarity and purpose. Through having this clarity of
focus, a leader is further prompted to be a lifelong learner (Robbins, 2009). To know your prejudices and areas of concern, you will be able to focus on
improving your weaknesses, and hopefully will know when you may need someone else step in on certain matters. This awareness allows a leader
to maintain perspective and hopefully be open to change. If a leader gets stuck in a fixed set of ideologies progress may lead to failure or stagnant
progress. A willingness to grow and learn will lead to growth and

from the Group Commander, a summary of the author's commander interview, and an analysis of the interview through the lens of the author's own
philosophy. Given the opportunity to take command of a Remotely Piloted Aircraft Attack squadron actively engaged in combat is truly humbling, and
standing on the shoulders of giants, now is the chance to test whether training, examples, both good and bad, and a lifelong building of one's
philosophy is enough preparation to meet that test. My leadership philosophy is one of proactive engagement, continual process/self–improvement,
honest feedback, and 360–degree accountability. On Col Waddell's continuum of Leader Behavior, my leadership style trends toward
follower–dominant but not as far as TQM. I present ideas and problems, get suggestions and ultimately make the calls. Gen (ret) Lorenz, in "Lorenz on
Leadership," continuously reinforced the concept of balancing shortfalls, stating "We never seem to have enough time, money, or manpower." In my
short experience I've noted that in peacetime we have the luxury of time, resources, and training. In combat, we must stay true to the F2T2EA doctrinal
model and continuously seek out the

Personal Leadership Philosophy : Ethics
Through careful consideration and an internal evaluation of myself I have been able to determine my core leadership principle; at the foundation of
my leadership philosophy is ethics. I believe it essential to be an ethical leader because it establishes the key building blocks of a strong relationship
between leaders and subordinates, which in turn allows for the implementation of my personal leadership style–transformational. As defined by
Webster's Dictionary ethics are: "involving questions of right and wrong behavior," (Merriam–Webster, 2016). As a leader I believe it is important to
have a strong ethical grounding as it allows you to conduct personal behaviour and actions in acceptable means. As an aspiring leader in the
Canadian armed forces I believe I have two strengths to support my core philosophy. They are honesty and moral, both traits I believe help to make
me an ethical leader. Another two important aspects needed in being an ethical leader are consistency and empathy, which I believe as a soon to be
leader are two traits I need to improve. These four traits surrounding my leadership philosophy help to drive my personally employed leadership
concept through the leader–member exchange theory. At the foundation of my leadership philosophy is leading ethically, which allows me to utilize
the transformational theory to solidify my leadership principle. I believe the above named aspects of leadership are all vital to being a strong leader in
the Canadian Armed

My Leadership Philosophy Essay
My leadership philosophy stems from my experience in the Army. As a leader, I believe in honesty, commitment, and respect for others. All
responsibilities should be carried out in a timely manner. My main priority is the well–being of my Soldiers. My Soldiers can expect me a leader that is
caring, dedicated, and upholds the standards. It is viable to be honest with my Soldiers. The last thing I want is to lose the trust of my Soldiers.
Honesty helps foster a good relationship between leaders and subordinates, this will help develop respect. I firmly believe in treating everyone with
respect regardless of rank. Honesty and respect will create fairness when it comes to dealing with Soldiers. One more thing I believe in is commitment,

Leadership & Coaching Philosophy
If we want to study and explain a leadership and coaching philosophy. We have to know really well what a philosophy means. Philosophy is a theory
or attitude held by a person or organization that acts as a guiding principle for behavior. Philosophy is defined as the rational investigation of the truths
and principles of being, knowledge, or conduct (Mertz, 2014). Furthermore we need to know about what being a leader means. Leadership is having a
vision, sharing that vision and inspiring others to support your vision while creating their own (Helmrich, 2015). The definition of being a coach is a
method of directing, instructing and training a person or group of people, with the aim to achieve some goal or develop specific skills (Dictionary,
2015).
Several components are evident within these definitions. As Mertz described (2014) "A theory; Serves as a basis for how we act. Theories evolve
as new information is processed and we learn from our experiences. An attitude; Attitude is about mindset. Leaders embrace a mindset to influence
others in positive ways so meaningful results can be achieved. Guiding principles; Principles are the beliefs we hold close, keeping us grounded and
centered in how we lead in. Behavior; it is where our actions come together to match our words and our words match our actions. Behavior is where
trust is gained or lost" (Mertz, 2014).

Personal Philosophy of Leadership Essay
Personal Philosophy of Leadership
Being a leader is more than simply holding a leadership position or having the ability to lead. Everyone is capable of being a leader, but not everyone
exercises his or her leadership abilities. Each person's idea of leadership is different. My idea of leadership has developed over time, and being a
member of the President's Leadership Class has helped me develop my philosophy of leadership further than what it was two months ago. My personal
philosophy of leadership is the ability to effect change through leading by example, taking initiative, and encouraging others.
There have been many things that have affected my philosophy of leadership. Something that has affected me as a leader is my values. One...show more

There have also been people who have motivated me to be a leader, especially my high school orchestra director. At the end of my junior year, my
director called me into his office and told me he would be moving me from the first violin section to the second violin section. He said he knew I
was quiet in the back of the first violin section, but he could see I possessed the leadership skills necessary to sit in the front of the second violin
section. This really motivated me to try and make him proud the next year at the front of the section. Many different aspects of my life have affected
my leadership philosophy.
I want others to be able to see my leadership philosophy at work. To do this, it is important that I be able to connect with those I seek to lead, as "The
Relational Leadership Model" states, "Relationships are the focal point of the leadership process" (Komives, Lucas, & McMahon, p. 74). One way
I hope to develop a relationship with my followers is by "Modeling the Way" (Kouzes, Posner, 2008). I will do this by clarifying my values and leading
by example. Clarifying values is important because "To earn and sustain personal credibility, one must be able to clearly articulate deeply held beliefs"
(Kouzes, Posner, 2008, p. 29). By clarifying my values, those I seek to lead will understand my mission and will believe I have a goal in mind.

How I define leadership has mostly to do with 27 years of service in the Army and 20 of those years spent as a Non–Commissioned Officer. Simply
put, I believe leadership is the balancing of two competing priorities, the accomplishment of the mission and the welfare of the people that are in
your charge. Others can probably think up a million of other subcategories that go into defining leadership, but I believe those are the two over
arching things a leader has to do. I see those two priorities being symbiotic because without the people I can't accomplish the mission but without the
mission I don't need the people. My future leadership goals within Troy will be limited because all of my classes will be online but I can still be a

Integrity I believe is the most important trait because without integrity all of the other traits are diminished. Maintaining competence is a never
ending struggle and requires me as a leader to keep learning. I strive to maintain my competence by doing things that help me grow as a leader.
Those things include taking college classes, attending advanced military schooling and reading new materials. If I can demonstrate competence to
followers I find that I can get buy in a lot easier which in turn makes the team more productive. Loyalty, is a two way road. I believe that a leader
has to earn the loyalty of their followers. As a leader I have tried to demonstrate loyalty not only to the followers but to the organization. When the
followers know that you are going to take care of them they will often work harder and longer. That is not to say that Loyalty has to be earned, and
given to the follower, and the organization. And then there is fairness. My idea of fairness is more of an "old school" idea of fairness. Fairness to me
means giving credit to individual on the work they do and treating individuals Fairness to me is not treating everyone the same it is giving them credit
for the work they

Leadership Philosophy My leadership philosophy is best conveyed by example. All units have standards we must achieve. I believe in exceeding
them at all times. I intend to demonstrate that by exceeding them myself. I know that not every Soldier is physically capable of maxing their PT test
every time or qualifying expert on their assigned weapon, but if the effort and desire to do so is put forth, then we as an organization can be satisfied
with meeting the standard in those instances. I believe in letting all Soldiers, leaders and subordinates alike, be themselves so long as it does not
hinder the mission or degrade unit readiness. I expect integrity and accountability at all levels. Missions fail when Soldiers sacrifice integrity and fail

A Leadership Philosophy is our own definition of our leadership styles. It consists of our beliefs, personal values, and assumptions. "There is not one
right way to lead. Leadership should not be studied as a recipe or a checklist. It is more important to develop a philosophy of leadership to guide your
actions (Komives, Lucas, and McMahon, 2013)." We must create our own definition of leadership in order to have an understanding of how to be
leaders. Understanding our leadership philosophy enables us to be better leaders and have an understanding on how leadership affects our experiences

I believe that a leader must implement their values and beliefs to create the leadership style that it is best for them and that aligns with the
organization's vision and purpose. Personally, I lead with the ideologies of the Relational Readership Model. This model calls for positive change
through a process that is empowering, inclusive, and ethical (Komives et al, 2013).
Since we all have our definition of leadership, it is hard to have a standard definition of leadership. My definition has been reinforced by different
assessment throughout the years. For instance, when I took the assessment True Color I turned out to be a Gold, which I expected because Golds
tend to be organized and like to plan ahead to be prepared. When leading, I am always prepared. I tend to plan everything ahead to assure success.
When thing do go wrong, I rely on my top strength from the StrengthsQuest assessment. This strength is Context; which means I look for answers
looking back at my blueprints and original plans. This helps me be confident that anything will work out based on the goal set at the beginning. Both
of these qualities, I believe are extremely important for everyone to practice in order to accomplish leaderships.
The past year, I served in the Hispanic Latino Student Union (HLSU) Programming Board. With this position, I was responsible for coordinating and
facilitating HLSU futures events as well as

Leadership Philosophy

  • 1. Leadership Philosophy Leadership encompasses the world around us, and is seen in some shape or form every single day. Without it, there would be no sense of direction for anyone, people would be lost. Leaders are those who take initiative to do what others won't. Those who strive to make a difference in our ill directed world and guide those who need to be guided, or pushed, further than they deem themselves capable. Leadership doesn't take enormous physical strength or even a booming voice. All it takes is a strong mind, full heart, and a purpose. Throughout history, leaders and their leadership have sculpted us into what we are today. From Alexander the Great to Winston Churchill, and all others in between and current, they impact our lives, somehow, every single...show more content... No matter the career, the upbringing, or any other factor at all, the impact on society that every individual holds is so powerful. Leadership can create or destroy, it's all just in the hands of the leader themselves. Because if the parents fail child, it's up to the teacher to grasp onto and find what makes that child them, to make them feel whole and lead the way for them as much as possible; and thats just a tiny example. That's what makes it such an incredible and vital peace of our lives, because we learn a lesson, or many, from every person throughout. And like I said, leadership doesn't take enormous physical strength or even a booming voice, all it takes is a strong mind, full heart, and a purpose. It's up to us, each and every one of us, to find our purpose, to fill the hearts of those who are struggling, and to show them that each and every one of us was put on this earth for a reason, that no matter their race, their weight, or any other insignificant matter, they are can be anyone they want to be. • 2. Leadership Philosophy Essay "Leadership is ultimately about creating a way for people to contribute to making something extraordinary in the organization" I like this because I believe leaders should help us do not a good job, but a great job. "Leadership is a process by which one person influences the thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors of others. Leaders set a direction for the rest of us; they help us see what lies ahead; they help us visualize what we might achieve; they encourage us and inspire us" (Mills, 2005). I believe in as a leader inspire the people from involvement and realize them to a part of something special in that case leader also learn something new from followers. I think leadership is most important in competitive business world without leadership, organizations move too...show more content... Organizations need both leadership and management because leadership is necessary to change and management is necessary to achieve orderly results. In class we learned "The challenge of leadership is to be strong not rude." This makes me think about the important qualities of a good leader. I believe that a good leader should have positive energy because "Leadership is where the leader depends on his/her energy to inspire staff. The leader inspires team with their vision of what should happen. They supply the main goal, but allow members to choose their own way of reaching it." (How to find out your style of leadership). There are many other qualities of a good leader, including humility, integrity, humors, and communication skills. I know all attributes are important but in my opinion effective communication skill is most important because it is the best way to express your ideas and views clearly, confidently and concisely in speech. A good communicator can tailor his or her content and style to the audience and promote free–flowing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Personal Leadership Philosophy Essay According to Webster's Dictionary, leadership is the power or ability to lead other people, the act or instance of leading. I believe that Leadership is an art, the art to get others to follow and accomplish a common goal or task in a harmonic manner. A leader can be shown in all kinds of shapes and forms. To be a great leader many people believe it consists of modeling the way, inspiring a shared vision, enabling others to act, and encouraging the heart. Over the course of me learning how to become a better leader and being in leadership roles, I've learned that all these are very necessary to be a great leader. The person you least expect can be a leader in their on right. We have great world leaders such as our President Barack ...show more content... With having such a demanding major, you can sometimes find yourself getting down and becoming stressed. I have had to experience teamwork of all forms through out my eighteen years and faith has defiantly gotten me through. I was once told "faith begins where your comfort zone ends." With my career goal is to become a nurse; just not ole any nurse, a great one. My strengths are very important to have. Faith is needed to help get through tough days and to also spiritually help your patients. I feel like whenever you do a task it should be done with integrity. Being a nurse, you have to be strong–minded and also able to heal and comfort mentally, emotionally, and physically, all great signs of a leader. You always have to remember that you can't always do everything alone. Teamwork is very important in the healthcare field. Each job is important and is connected to one another. Communication is the key to many careers and very important to nursing because you have to build positive relationships with the people and patients around you. Growth should never end. Becoming better in what you do is always important in becoming a better you. I would say for me to work better at having ambition, I should try to trust more and be more positive. I should also remain focus on my common clear goals. My Career of choice is to become a Registered Nurse. • 4. Leadership Philosophy Essay The definition of leadership comes from within each person. Every person has his or her own interpretation of how a leadership should be defined. This definition most likely comes from past experiences under leadership or being the leader. My personal definition is very lengthy because I feel like leadership is very important. Leadership is not defined by the "title" of a person. An authority figure does not always hold the leadership role. Your best friend could be showing leadership. Leadership is defined as what someone does that impacts your life and makes you go in the right direction. Through leadership, the leader shapes who you are and who you will become. Although we like to think that leadership is good most of the time;...show more content... The impact leadership has on our lives shape us even after the leader is gone. For example, Martin Luther King was such a great leader that even now his leadership is still shown through others. Although I have stated my lengthy definition of leadership, there is one thing that really defines leadership. The definition of leadership is truly the actions of a leader that help you become closer and closer to achieving what you want in life. If leadership is not helping you achieve your goals, then you are probably following the wrong leader. You should always follow leadership that is going to help and not hurt you. As I reflect back to my past experiences under leadership from others, there are a lot of people that come to mind. One person that really sticks out would be my father. He has always been a wonderful leader for me and my family. There were many times in his life where he had to be a strong leader. One very stressful times would be when my sister was born. My mom had a lot of trouble having my sister, and was in the hospital for almost a year after she was born. My dad had to then take on the role of having a five year old, a newborn, a sick wife, and a job all by himself. In the middle of all of this, the company he worked for shut down. He was stressed, but that is when his leadership role really showed. Leadership qualities like courage, focus, adaptability, and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Leadership Philosophy There are several characteristics a person in a leadership role should portray. My philosophy of leadership encompasses characteristics such as compassion, collaboration, innovation, perseverance, and competence. I believe to be a competent leader one must be authentic to one's self and beliefs. One must know where he or she stands concerning ethics and innovations surrounding the education field. A leader must convey understanding, be on the forefront of research, advocate for colleagues and students, and collaborate with other professionals. In order to lead, one must be compassionate. I have learned that a professional who depicts positive leadership is kind–hearted and understanding. There will be times and situations where a student...show more content... One who is in a leadership position must be knowledgeable in his or her field. If one is not knowledgeable, then he or she cannot provide adequate guidance, be innovative, effectively advocate on the behalf of students, or effectively collaborate with a team of professionals. I strive to be competent by being aware of the latest evidence based research, by collaborating with my colleagues, and by pursuing more about the field of education through continuing my education as a high–quality teacher. An effective educator must be proficient in the skills needed to be a leader. • 6. Essay On Leadership Philosophy Leadership is a powerful word. It can represent the good or bad in a person. When I think of leadership, I think of the people in my life who have accomplished a great deal to help others. I noticed that all of them have their own values and ways of accomplishing greatness in their life. I believe that in order for me to be successful as a leader, it is essential that you understand my own personal beliefs and values. My leadership philosophy is driven by the Army Values and the NCO Creed. There's only one way to be an NCO and that's following the creed. I want the Soldiers I support to be more effective than I am. I want them to share what they learn with their Soldiers so we continue to have an effective Army. The Army Values are going to help us accomplish our mission ...show more content... All of the people that I work with are important and key to the success of the organization. I am learning every day from them as they are learning from me. I am a leader to help others. I do not do things to benefit myself. I am very good at helping people find the resources that they might need to assist them through the issues they are going through. I am here to encourage and help others when it is needed. I will be sure to have an open line of communication to better understand the key issues that I need to focused on. It is also extremely important for you to know that you can approach me any time when you need assistance or have ideas that you would like to share. My expectation for my subordinates is to learn as much as you can about what you do and as much as you can about the institution. Once that occurs, you can clearly fit and you can better execute your responsibilities. Through this philosophy I will lead you through the exercise of the above mentioned values, beliefs, and expectations. • 7. My Leadership Philosophy Essay My definition of leadership is, "Leadership is the art of providing challenges, opportunities and direction to others in an effort to motivate them towards providing sustainable solutions or completing pre–determined objectives or tasks. My positive Leadership influences during my Coast Guard career include a Damage Control Chief, who provided countless challenging opportunities, a Boatswain Mate Chief who went out his way to recognize exceptional work as well as requiring the correction of sub par work, a Telephone Technician Chief and two Electronics Warrant Officers for providing limited direction, and all previously mentioned members for allowing me to practice leadership as I have defined it above. Based off of my Leadership Practices...show more content... I expect every member to operate in alignment of our core values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to duty. A high level of mutual trust and respect is an instrumental requirement to have a good leadership experience. In addition, I pride myself in saying and demonstrating that I have done everything I am asking of my shipmates as well. If a problem can't be solved I am the type of person to ask questions enabling my team to half step and recognize the problem, putting them on the right path to success or provide on the spot training if needed. It is fundamental to lead by example, for instance completing physical fitness activities, volunteering for outreach opportunities, and the same types of extra command sponsored committees you are asking your shipmates to volunteer for. As long as the trust factor is 100% I am a firm believer of stating objectives and boundaries, then empowering people to do the right thing, while occasionally verifying folks are on the right track. As part of my role as a senior leader I also make a point to work harder than ever to provide opportunities to further diversify my crew's knowledge and skills through new personal and professional training, or special projects, while also doing everything I can to support them while they feverishly lay it all on the line to support Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Philosophy Of Leadership And Leadership Philosophy of Leadership Who has ever wondered how their philosophy of leadership came into existence? Do exceptional leaders possess something others do not? The two questions have a direct relationship to each other. The answer to each question is becoming an outstanding leader takes work and dedication for achieving continual self–improvement. An amazing leader is always growing and improving themselves, as well as, others. Furthermore, if the individual as a leader is not continually improving, then growth will cease and future expectations become disappointments. Developing a philosophy of leadership requires the ability to be open–minded, love others, and serve people. God designs people differently making them each unique. It is...show more content... The difference between management and leadership is leaders lead people, and things require being managed (Hunter, 2012). Ensuring equal and fair treatment for human beings with the same fundamental human right will assist an individual developing their leadership philosophy. Therefore, I will strive to take a moment and reflect on at least one specific situation throughout the day with an anticipation of handling it differently than I would have in the past. Keeping an open mind for differences of opinions or different methods of completing tasks is difficult. I have discovered treating others, as I want them to treat me, is not an effortless task at times. I struggle with the acceptance and understanding of people handling situations differently than how I would handle them. The method in which completion took place is irrelevant, aside moral and ethical differences, if completing the task with suitable standards. Learning to develop and grow my thought processes has allowed me to demonstrate similar behaviors to others. Treating others from a comparable behavioral mindset and attitude will promote my increasing ability to lead and love others. Individuals need to love others in the form of a verb and not a feeling. Loving others as a verb is a difficult task when not approached from a servant–leadership style. The adage of actions speaking louder than words and the golden rule holds Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Vision of Leadership Philosophy Essay Vision of Leadership From research we see that there are many qualities that people value in leaders. Some of these qualities include: having high standards, supportive, inquisitive, involved, honest and having integrity. When I think about leadership I think of a person who is self–aware and always striving for improvement. To be a good leader you need to know how your personal biases may impact decision making in various situations. Bias or values can effect how you interact with those you come in contact with on a daily basis. A good leader can set the tone for students, staff, and parents by being consistent and clear in thoughts and in actions. The leader is the foundation of the building. In order for the principal to develop positive relationships within the community the school needs to demonstrate, and promote the contributions provided. The school needs to adopt an "our children" attitude with the community to share in the benefits for students (Epstein, 2009). Self–Awareness and Leadership An effective leader needs to be genuine and true to the values he holds. If the leader is not honest with those he interacts with, they will not trust him for long. Being clear about values allows the leader to help establish a solid setting for the community to build upon. Strong leaders demonstrate the following values: being trustworthy, caring, focused, flexible, direct, knowledgeable, and approachable. By having a foundation that focuses on the importance of education an instructional leader can focus on clarity and purpose. Through having this clarity of focus, a leader is further prompted to be a lifelong learner (Robbins, 2009). To know your prejudices and areas of concern, you will be able to focus on improving your weaknesses, and hopefully will know when you may need someone else step in on certain matters. This awareness allows a leader to maintain perspective and hopefully be open to change. If a leader gets stuck in a fixed set of ideologies progress may lead to failure or stagnant progress. • 10. This concise paper addresses a lifetime of learning on part of the author and the gracious graduated squadron commander interviewee who leant his time and wisdom. In the next few paragraphs the three key elements that will be addressed include: the author's leadership philosophy, elicited in the hot seat from the Group Commander, a summary of the author's commander interview, and an analysis of the interview through the lens of the author's own philosophy. Given the opportunity to take command of a Remotely Piloted Aircraft Attack squadron actively engaged in combat is truly humbling, and standing on the shoulders of giants, now is the chance to test whether training, examples, both good and bad, and a lifelong building of one's philosophy is enough preparation to meet that test. My leadership philosophy is one of proactive engagement, continual process/self–improvement, honest feedback, and 360–degree accountability. On Col Waddell's continuum of Leader Behavior, my leadership style trends toward follower–dominant but not as far as TQM. I present ideas and problems, get suggestions and ultimately make the calls. Gen (ret) Lorenz, in "Lorenz on Leadership," continuously reinforced the concept of balancing shortfalls, stating "We never seem to have enough time, money, or manpower." In my short experience I've noted that in peacetime we have the luxury of time, resources, and training. In combat, we must stay true to the F2T2EA doctrinal model and continuously seek out the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Personal Leadership Philosophy : Ethics Through careful consideration and an internal evaluation of myself I have been able to determine my core leadership principle; at the foundation of my leadership philosophy is ethics. I believe it essential to be an ethical leader because it establishes the key building blocks of a strong relationship between leaders and subordinates, which in turn allows for the implementation of my personal leadership style–transformational. As defined by Webster's Dictionary ethics are: "involving questions of right and wrong behavior," (Merriam–Webster, 2016). As a leader I believe it is important to have a strong ethical grounding as it allows you to conduct personal behaviour and actions in acceptable means. As an aspiring leader in the Canadian armed forces I believe I have two strengths to support my core philosophy. They are honesty and moral, both traits I believe help to make me an ethical leader. Another two important aspects needed in being an ethical leader are consistency and empathy, which I believe as a soon to be leader are two traits I need to improve. These four traits surrounding my leadership philosophy help to drive my personally employed leadership concept through the leader–member exchange theory. At the foundation of my leadership philosophy is leading ethically, which allows me to utilize the transformational theory to solidify my leadership principle. I believe the above named aspects of leadership are all vital to being a strong leader in the Canadian Armed Get more content on HelpWriting.net

All responsibilities should be carried out in a timely manner. My main priority is the well–being of my Soldiers. My Soldiers can expect me a leader that is caring, dedicated, and upholds the standards. It is viable to be honest with my Soldiers. The last thing I want is to lose the trust of my Soldiers. Honesty helps foster a good relationship between leaders and subordinates, this will help develop respect. I firmly believe in treating everyone with respect regardless of rank. Honesty and respect will create fairness when it comes to dealing with Soldiers. One more thing I believe in is commitment, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Leadership & Coaching Philosophy If we want to study and explain a leadership and coaching philosophy. We have to know really well what a philosophy means. Philosophy is a theory or attitude held by a person or organization that acts as a guiding principle for behavior. Philosophy is defined as the rational investigation of the truths and principles of being, knowledge, or conduct (Mertz, 2014). Furthermore we need to know about what being a leader means. Leadership is having a vision, sharing that vision and inspiring others to support your vision while creating their own (Helmrich, 2015). The definition of being a coach is a method of directing, instructing and training a person or group of people, with the aim to achieve some goal or develop specific skills (Dictionary, 2015). Several components are evident within these definitions. As Mertz described (2014) "A theory; Serves as a basis for how we act. Theories evolve as new information is processed and we learn from our experiences. An attitude; Attitude is about mindset. Leaders embrace a mindset to influence others in positive ways so meaningful results can be achieved. Guiding principles; Principles are the beliefs we hold close, keeping us grounded and centered in how we lead in. • 15. Personal Philosophy of Leadership Essay Personal Philosophy of Leadership Being a leader is more than simply holding a leadership position or having the ability to lead. Everyone is capable of being a leader, but not everyone exercises his or her leadership abilities. Each person's idea of leadership is different. My idea of leadership has developed over time, and being a member of the President's Leadership Class has helped me develop my philosophy of leadership further than what it was two months ago. My personal philosophy of leadership is the ability to effect change through leading by example, taking initiative, and encouraging others. There have been many things that have affected my philosophy of leadership. Something that has affected me as a leader is my values. One...show more content... There have also been people who have motivated me to be a leader, especially my high school orchestra director. At the end of my junior year, my director called me into his office and told me he would be moving me from the first violin section to the second violin section. He said he knew I was quiet in the back of the first violin section, but he could see I possessed the leadership skills necessary to sit in the front of the second violin section. This really motivated me to try and make him proud the next year at the front of the section. Many different aspects of my life have affected my leadership philosophy. I want others to be able to see my leadership philosophy at work. To do this, it is important that I be able to connect with those I seek to lead, as "The Relational Leadership Model" states, "Relationships are the focal point of the leadership process" (Komives, Lucas, & McMahon, p. 74). One way I hope to develop a relationship with my followers is by "Modeling the Way" (Kouzes, Posner, 2008). I will do this by clarifying my values and leading by example. Clarifying values is important because "To earn and sustain personal credibility, one must be able to clearly articulate deeply held beliefs" (Kouzes, Posner, 2008, p. 29). By clarifying my values, those I seek to lead will understand my mission and will believe I have a goal in mind. Leading by Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Leadership Philosophy How I define leadership has mostly to do with 27 years of service in the Army and 20 of those years spent as a Non–Commissioned Officer. Simply put, I believe leadership is the balancing of two competing priorities, the accomplishment of the mission and the welfare of the people that are in your charge. Others can probably think up a million of other subcategories that go into defining leadership, but I believe those are the two over arching things a leader has to do. I see those two priorities being symbiotic because without the people I can't accomplish the mission but without the mission I don't need the people. My future leadership goals within Troy will be limited because all of my classes will be online but I can still be a leader by...show more content... Integrity I believe is the most important trait because without integrity all of the other traits are diminished. Maintaining competence is a never ending struggle and requires me as a leader to keep learning. I strive to maintain my competence by doing things that help me grow as a leader. Those things include taking college classes, attending advanced military schooling and reading new materials. If I can demonstrate competence to followers I find that I can get buy in a lot easier which in turn makes the team more productive. Loyalty, is a two way road. I believe that a leader has to earn the loyalty of their followers. As a leader I have tried to demonstrate loyalty not only to the followers but to the organization. When the followers know that you are going to take care of them they will often work harder and longer. That is not to say that Loyalty has to be earned, and given to the follower, and the organization. And then there is fairness. My idea of fairness is more of an "old school" idea of fairness. Fairness to me means giving credit to individual on the work they do and treating individuals Fairness to me is not treating everyone the same it is giving them credit for the work they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Sample Of Leadership Philosophy Leadership Philosophy My leadership philosophy is best conveyed by example. All units have standards we must achieve. I believe in exceeding them at all times. I intend to demonstrate that by exceeding them myself. I know that not every Soldier is physically capable of maxing their PT test every time or qualifying expert on their assigned weapon, but if the effort and desire to do so is put forth, then we as an organization can be satisfied with meeting the standard in those instances. I believe in letting all Soldiers, leaders and subordinates alike, be themselves so long as it does not hinder the mission or degrade unit readiness. I expect integrity and accountability at all levels. Missions fail when Soldiers sacrifice integrity and fail Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. A Leadership Philosophy is our own definition of our leadership styles. It consists of our beliefs, personal values, and assumptions. "There is not one right way to lead. Leadership should not be studied as a recipe or a checklist. It is more important to develop a philosophy of leadership to guide your actions (Komives, Lucas, and McMahon, 2013)." We must create our own definition of leadership in order to have an understanding of how to be leaders. Understanding our leadership philosophy enables us to be better leaders and have an understanding on how leadership affects our experiences leaders. I believe leadership is the process of working together with a group of people to accomplish a common goal or positive change. Leadership is...show more content... I believe that a leader must implement their values and beliefs to create the leadership style that it is best for them and that aligns with the organization's vision and purpose. Personally, I lead with the ideologies of the Relational Readership Model. This model calls for positive change through a process that is empowering, inclusive, and ethical (Komives et al, 2013). Since we all have our definition of leadership, it is hard to have a standard definition of leadership. My definition has been reinforced by different assessment throughout the years. For instance, when I took the assessment True Color I turned out to be a Gold, which I expected because Golds tend to be organized and like to plan ahead to be prepared. When leading, I am always prepared. I tend to plan everything ahead to assure success. When thing do go wrong, I rely on my top strength from the StrengthsQuest assessment. This strength is Context; which means I look for answers looking back at my blueprints and original plans. This helps me be confident that anything will work out based on the goal set at the beginning. Both of these qualities, I believe are extremely important for everyone to practice in order to accomplish leaderships. The past year, I served in the Hispanic Latino Student Union (HLSU) Programming Board. With this position, I was responsible for coordinating and facilitating HLSU futures events as well as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
