Therapy Dogs Essay
As the saying goes, a dog is a man's best friend. The dog is a loving companion to a man. He is happy to go everywhere with his master. He shows his
affection for his master by wagging his tail and licking his hand or face. This timeless relationship continues to evolve into new kinds of human–dog
interactions that increasingly benefit society. This has led to the belief that dogs can provide company, affection and support to people who are going
through a difficult time or who feel lonely. Dogs have aided humans in tasks such as hunting, livestock herding, and guarding. However, as society
moved from small rural communities to increasingly large metropolitan areas, the dog's role changed. Throughout the years a more specific type of

As a result, Smoky became the first therapy dog we know of. (Visser 2013) There are between 45 to 55 million dogs per household in America
(American Humane Association 2012). Furthermore, according to a national survey, the majority of dog owners chose to get a dog for the
companionship as the major reason for having a dog (American Animal Hospital Association, 2004). After all, dogs are nonjudgmental, give
unconditional love, can be trusted with our most intimate feelings and emotions, and are highly intelligent. These dog characteristics can significantly
enhance the lives of thousands of youth and adults, especially those with disabilities and/or those who live in continuing care facilities. There are
approximately 20,000 service dogs in the U.S., which includes 10,000 guide dogs (American Humane Association 2012) Most of the therapy dogs
come from a selective breeding program known as the American Kennel Club (AKC). These dogs go through several months of obedience training and
must be able to strictly follow commands. These dogs must also feel comfortable in the presence of wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, oxygen tanks, food
carts, and any other equipment patients and therapists use. A number of studies have demonstrated that the presence of therapy dogs serve to increase
the quantity and quality of positive attention directed toward the physically handicapped by both familiar individuals and

Redemption Essay
The literal definition of the word "redemption" is the act, process, or an instance of redeeming (forgiven). When I as a human being think of
redemption I think of it as a way to accept, forgive and move on after an instance of extreme, usually emotional, infliction. When we think of this in
terms of prison, humans are put into isolation where they are given ample time to logically think of these trespasses and how they are paying for it
with their lives. At the same time these people are doing very manual labor while getting 'paid' very little in order to redeem themselves to hopefully
regain some rank again in society. In life where most of us live outside walls redemption comes in many different forms, although not all as painful.

When I myself am witness to acts of injustice my first reaction is usually anger, frustration which is then followed by a very vocal complaint. The
same reactions come about when I myself am put under circumstances of injustice and I can only hope, but am not certain, that this is something
regularly occurs with humans in general. I would have to say that some of the factors that contribute to the ways that I respond to injustice would
be feelings that had occurred as a child when put into unjust situations as well as knowledge that I was given while growing up in both educational
institutions as well as living in general. While I watched the movie Shawshank Redemption I witness an idea developed mainly by Stephen King
that basically gave me hope by helping me see that due to what I call karma, the people that are exaggerating unjust behavior will eventually get
what is coming to them. This is displayed well by the showing of all the ignorant behavior put on by the warden and what happened to him in the
end. In our society taking away a persons freedom is considered justice because at this point these people do not have a choice. The choices that they
have made so far have only gotten them into trouble, now they have given that up and are subjected to be treated basically like a slave. Solitary
confinement is considered the most severe punishment that we can inflict in our justice system as

Loneliness Essay
To be lonely is an easy thing, being alone is another matter entirely. To understand this, first one must understand the difference between loneliness
and being alone. To be alone means that your are not in the company of anyone else. You are one. But loneliness can happen anytime, anywhere. You
can be lonely in a crowd, lonely with friends, lonely with family. You can even be lonely while with loved ones. For feeling lonely, is in essence a
feeling of being alone. As thought you were one and you feel as though you will always be that way. Loneliness can be one of the most destructive
feelings humans are capable of feeling. For loneliness can lead to depression, suicide, and even to raging out and hurting friends and/or...show more

Generally almost all loneliness can be traced back to low or below "average" self–esteem. Chronically lonely people will usually have low opinions of
themselves. They may think of themselves as unintelligent, unattractive, broken, unwanted, not worthy of good things, no good, unable to do anything
right, and/or socially isolated. Unlike many other emotionally hurting people, the chronically lonely usually know what is wrong, but like many others
they don't believe they can do anything to fix it, or, circling back to the low self–esteem, they may also believe they are not worth of happiness.
It takes the strong support of a good friend(s) or other loved one(s) to help the lonely conquer their feelings. Simply trying to counteract the low
self–esteem verbally will not do it, though, for in their down state, they will see the person as just trying to be nice or spare their feelings. The lonely
must be shown in more subtle, yet clear ways that they are not the useless person they perceive themselves to be. For example, with a person who
feels particularly unloved and unwanted, someone close to them should try to take a little extra time to spend with that person and try to set aside a
little extra time to talk to the person.
Nothing special needs to be said or done, simply spending time, willing and without having been asked, allows the lonely one to see that they are
loved. That they are worthy of being associated with and that there are

The Gender Equality And Education
Throughout the years gender equality and education have drastically changed. Some people went through different experiences depending when or
even where a person grew up. In the United States Title IX was a big contributing factor in gender equality. "These areas are: Access to Higher
Education, Career Education, Education for Pregnant and Parenting Students, Employment, Learning Environment, Math and Science, Sexual
Harassment, Standardized Testing and Technology" (Titleix.info, History). In this project, I have interviewed three different people: A late 50sfemale,
an early 20s male, and an early 50s female who grew up in the Philippines. All three interviewees have had different experiences that will be compared
and contrasted into this essay. During the academic years of a late 50s female who attended school from the 1960s–1970s, before and shortly after Title
IX existed, had very different experiences compared to my other two interviewees. During this woman's elementary years, teachers had always treated
males and females differently. In kindergarten, boys had a separate corner with toys that only boys played with, and girls had another corner with toys
that only girls could play with. Neither gender was allowed to play with the other's toys. If a girl wanted to play with a G.I.JOE doll, she was not
allowed and got in trouble if she attempted to do so. Throughout most of her school years, genders were always separated in some way. With the
gender segregation, boys

Essay on Failed Relationships
We live our lives waiting for who we think is the perfect person, but in reality that never happens. When we hear the word relationship, we think of a
man and a woman. Being in a relationship is more than just being intimate. There are different kinds of relationship such as husbands and wives,
parent and child, or just friend to friend. Some people say it takes two people to make a relationship fail. When two people meet, they usually know
from the begining if they want to be with that person or if they want to pursue a relationship.
When a relationship fails, it is because one or both parties involved gives up. Giving up on a relationship is always hard because it means someone's
feelings are going to be...show more content...
Some people cheat with the hope of never being caught. Another reason why relationships fail are because of children, some people having children
will help in reality it only makes worse. On the other hand, if a person may bring their child or children into the relationship, and the child and the other
partner does not get along that usually cause a big problem.
Communication is the number one key to a good relationship. When there is no communication between both parties involved in the relationship, that
is when the relationship fails whether it is a man and a woman, or a child trying to divorce his/her parents or friends cutting their ties forever.
When couples realize their relationship is starting to fail, they will try different things such as marriage counseling. That is when the couple will sit
down with a therapist and they will try to work their problems out. Sometimes therapy can help the couples work their issues out and get to the root
of their problems. Another solution is a vacation or a second honeymoon where they can reconcile or rekindle the relationship that they use to have.
Or even as far as moving away to get a new start on life, to try to get away from the old way of how things use to be and try to start a new life together
again.
In a relationship, we have to know what we can, and cannot live without. Being in a relationship means nothing, no one is perfect and in a relationship,

Equality And Gender Equality
History
Title IX was passed by congress in 1972. When discussing Title IX, most people will refer to gender equality in athletics and sports. Although this does
apply to state funded athletics and sports, this is only one of the ten areas that are addressed by the law. The following ten key areas fall under the
amendment: Access to higher education, athletics, career education, education for pregnant and parenting students, employment, learning environment,
math and science, sexual harassment, standardized testing, and technology. The intent of the law is to allow for gender equality across the board by
prohibiting any discrimination on the basis of sex. Prior to the law being passed, women in the 1970's were excluded from many opportunities.
Colleges and universities set a quota for the admission of women and access to scholarships. They needed earlier curfews, denied tenure, and had
more restrictive rules overall. The response to these concerns was the development of Title IX. The law reads: "No person in the United States shall,
on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or
activity receiving Federal financial assistance." Federal funding does not have to be monetary compensation. Examples include rent assistance,
financial aid/loans, or federal training. Title IX came after Title VII or the Civil Rights Act, which does not allow discrimination in the work place

Essay Growing Up
When I Grow Up..
"Being 'grown up' isn't as fun as the idea of growing up."
–AmberGrace Seguin
Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do 'grownup' things? We spent our whole childhood
thinking of what we would do when we finally 'grew up', and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven't made up our mind of what it
is we will do when we grow up. We've painted this pretty little picture in our head of what it'll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it
finally comes for the picture to be taken off the wall and put into action, it's not nearly as fun as creating the painting.

"The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an adult; the day he forgives
himself, he becomes wise." –Alden Nowlan As we continue to grow up, we learn that being grown up is not as we imagined it. We once convinced
ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much better once we were in fact grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we
think back at our youth and laugh because we thought growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than ever, we crave
for our youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of what we are to become when we grow up; and finally for the days when life was
simple and we could imagine it any which way we wanted it and no one could do a thing about it.

The Pros And Cons Of Title IX
Title IX came to be in 1972. It was put in place by Congress and became an educational amendment. This law has specific sections, and one section
states that girls and women who are in federally– funded education programs also including athletics are not to be discriminated against. It is no secret
that females have more of a hardship than men in a lot of areas with sports being one of those top areas. This amendment ensures that girls and women
will get the same opportunity and fairness in athletics just like men do. In result, females have even had better facilities as well as the equal
opportunities. Things have gotten better for females, but this amendment was not welcomed in the beginning when it was first implemented. People
complained that boy's/men's sports would suffer a loss because of this, specifically the NCAA and high school administrators. "Title IX passed with
little controversy in 1972. Soon after Title IX passed, however, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and high school administrators
complained that boys' sports would suffer if girls' sports had to be funded equally. Regulations about how to implement the law were not released until
two years later, and these regulations did not go into effect until July 1975. Even then, the Office of...show more content...
It is up to Title IX to investigate, but also be cautious of the First Amendment when dealing with students. It is up to them to investigate, but not to
force any situation on a student. When this happens, their rights are not being respected. Title IX is there to help and not to harass, but sometimes
makes the mistake of doing so without realizing it. This story is an example of how Title IX also has its own difficulties when dealing with different
issues and the flaws in the steps being taken when investigation occurs. Due to this incident, Title IX is taking steps to make sure that the victim's First
Amendment rights are being respected

Title VII of the Civil Right Act of 1946 that is an important legislation which plays a significant role in defining the employment procedures in today's
workplace. Racial discrimination will continue to be prohibited by Title VII and it has sparked an increase in anti–discrimination awareness as it is
designed to promote equal opportunities, equality, and promote fairness. As a federal law, it is unlawful for an employer to discriminate against a
prospective employee from being hired based on gender, race, national origin and religion.

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and
done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the
middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my
essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I
use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing,
and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not
have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it
holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the
importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate
enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

WHAT DO I TITLE THIS WITH
In today's current events the names Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown have become very familiar, unfortunately in a rather negative way. Both men
happened to be African–Americans who were shot and killed by policemen identified as being Caucasian men which raised the concern whether if
both cases were examples of racial profiling. Racial profiling is the use of an individual's race or ethnicity as a main factor in deciding whether to
engage in enforcement. Simply put it is the use of racial stereotypes and the act of discrimination upon a victim in a demeaning manner. For example:
stricter security clearances for Muslims at airports due to the 9/11 terrorist attack or banning Aboriginals from a bar because they will become rowdy
when drunk. With all the advancements in today's society – economically, technologically and socially etc. one would think that racial profiling and
racism in general would be a thing of the past but yet t is the headline of many newspapers. Racial profiling is not only a social injustice but a
prejudice against potential victims that must be removed from today's society and can be achieved so through self–reflection, acting virtuously and
taking initiative.
The first dimension of conscience is capacity which is the ability to recognize the good and search for it. The good is to treat others equally as well as
recognize the fact that we are all guilty somehow. Sadly,

Title IX
Great inequalities in the educational system between the sexes have occurred for many years and still occur today. Efforts have been made to rectify
this disparity, but the one that has made the most difference is Title IX. Passed in 1972, Title IX attempted to correct the gender discrimination in
educational systems receiving public funding. The greatest correction it made was in the area of athletics, but social justice of Title IX applies to many
other areas as well. Title IX has an effect on women who are not athletes in many ways, including quality of education, receptivity to education,
empowerment and creation of ideals.

They could still receive a quality education from their school and thus have the opportunity for further advancement in life. Pregnant students could still
enjoy normal student involvement and not be stigmatized, as teenage mothers often are. For pregnant students, Title IX could change their lives.
Sexual harassment has been a problem in school situations; it inhibits a student's ability to learn since the student concentrates on the problem of
dealing with the harassment instead of concentrating on her education. This occurrence of harassment can make a student fearful of going to school,
fearful of authority figures and distrustful of adults in general. A woman who either is fearful or distrustful of men or women at an early age can suffer
social inhibitions prohibiting her advancement through life. Title IX's prohibition on sexual harassment frees students from these fears and leaves them
able to lead a normal life. Although Title IX does not eliminate the possibility of sexual harassment altogether, it does provide recourse to the student
and the student's family through means of liability damages. Restrictions are placed on when the liability comes into effect, but it is a step forward in
dealing with sexual harassment.
The benefits to female students interested in athletics are obvious, but a secondary benefit to the rest of the female community is

Kelley V. University Of Illinois: Case Study

Facts:
Members of the University of Illinois's men's swim team filed a lawsuit in 1993 claiming that the school was discriminating against them by cutting
their team and not the women's swim team. The members claimed that this decision was in violation of Title IX, a law that prohibited discrimination on
the basis of gender, along with the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. The University of Illinois made the decision to cut the men's
swim team due to budgetary limitations. Along with the men's swim team, the men's diving, men's fencing, and women's diving team were also cut for
the same reason. There were many instances previous to this case where female athletes have filed lawsuits claiming that they were being discriminated
against, and that the institution was in violation of...show more content...
In 1993, the law was converted from a statute that outlawed discrimination on the basis of gender, largely exclusion from participation opportunities
(athletics), to one that provides "equal opportunity for members of both sexes." Title IX is largely statistical, as most higher learning institutions strive
to have very close to an equal percentage of women and men involved in athletics with respect to enrollment. Many decisions regarding Title IX are
made for statistical purposes only.
Fourteenth Amendment (Equal Protection Clause): For one to file an equal protection claim, one has to prove that the "government intentionally
discriminated against the plaintiff by classifying him or her for different treatment under the law than one similarly situated." For the equal protection

Still Learning From My Mother Analysis

mother. Schneider vividly describes his mother in her youth as being very gracious but also very competitive and great at sports. As the years go

educational program or activity receiving any type of federal financial aid. The tone of the atmosphere was funny, and inspiring, because no matter
how old the lady was she still wanted to tact young. Question 2. The author used a lot of vivid description. Some examples of figure of speech are in

Title IX Case Study
Introduction
Title IX, enacted in 1972, requires all entities receiving federal funds to provide equal opportunities to both genders. A Title IX complaint was filed
against Chico Unified, and the OCR made several allegations of non–compliance.
Title IX is broken into three areas (participation, financial assistance, and treatment of athletes). The OCR did not allege non–compliance pertaining
financial assistance, as Chico does not offer athletic scholarships. Conversely, The OCR made several allegations under the areas of participation and
treatment of athletes. Below the allegations are separated into the two categories, followed by the OCR's reasoning, and concluding with strategies to
become compliant.
Participation
Allegations:

To prove compliance by prong three, a school must conduct viable surveys of all female students. In 2005, the Bush administration determined that
unanswered emails can be considered as a lack of interest. However, the OCR values a survey with high participation rates, compared to low (NIAAA,
p.112–114, 2011).
Response Strategies/Best Practices
An adequate survey must be conducted. An adequate survey requires impartially worded questions, and a high participation percentage.
Suggest finding a time to conduct the survey in person, as opposed to emailing a survey.
Suggest raising the number of roster spots on girls' teams. For example, all girls' basketball rosters should have 15 athletes.
Efforts should be made to add one girl team sport. The sport should be determined based upon both survey results and the practicality of adding the
sport. Practicality should be determined by ability to compete, ability to obtain resources and hire coaches, and the ability to maintain a program
long–term.
Treatment of athletes
Allegations:
Disparity in the quality of facilities for boys' and girls' teams. The OCR found that the softball field is below the quality of the baseball field.

Therapy Dogs Essay

  • 1. Therapy Dogs Essay As the saying goes, a dog is a man's best friend. The dog is a loving companion to a man. He is happy to go everywhere with his master. He shows his affection for his master by wagging his tail and licking his hand or face. This timeless relationship continues to evolve into new kinds of human–dog interactions that increasingly benefit society. This has led to the belief that dogs can provide company, affection and support to people who are going through a difficult time or who feel lonely. Dogs have aided humans in tasks such as hunting, livestock herding, and guarding. However, as society moved from small rural communities to increasingly large metropolitan areas, the dog's role changed. Throughout the years a more specific type of ...show more content... As a result, Smoky became the first therapy dog we know of. (Visser 2013) There are between 45 to 55 million dogs per household in America (American Humane Association 2012). Furthermore, according to a national survey, the majority of dog owners chose to get a dog for the companionship as the major reason for having a dog (American Animal Hospital Association, 2004). After all, dogs are nonjudgmental, give unconditional love, can be trusted with our most intimate feelings and emotions, and are highly intelligent. These dog characteristics can significantly enhance the lives of thousands of youth and adults, especially those with disabilities and/or those who live in continuing care facilities. There are approximately 20,000 service dogs in the U.S., which includes 10,000 guide dogs (American Humane Association 2012) Most of the therapy dogs come from a selective breeding program known as the American Kennel Club (AKC). These dogs go through several months of obedience training and must be able to strictly follow commands. These dogs must also feel comfortable in the presence of wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, oxygen tanks, food carts, and any other equipment patients and therapists use. A number of studies have demonstrated that the presence of therapy dogs serve to increase the quantity and quality of positive attention directed toward the physically handicapped by both familiar individuals and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Redemption Essay The literal definition of the word "redemption" is the act, process, or an instance of redeeming (forgiven). When I as a human being think of redemption I think of it as a way to accept, forgive and move on after an instance of extreme, usually emotional, infliction. When we think of this in terms of prison, humans are put into isolation where they are given ample time to logically think of these trespasses and how they are paying for it with their lives. At the same time these people are doing very manual labor while getting 'paid' very little in order to redeem themselves to hopefully regain some rank again in society. In life where most of us live outside walls redemption comes in many different forms, although not all as painful. ...show more content... When I myself am witness to acts of injustice my first reaction is usually anger, frustration which is then followed by a very vocal complaint. The same reactions come about when I myself am put under circumstances of injustice and I can only hope, but am not certain, that this is something regularly occurs with humans in general. I would have to say that some of the factors that contribute to the ways that I respond to injustice would be feelings that had occurred as a child when put into unjust situations as well as knowledge that I was given while growing up in both educational institutions as well as living in general. While I watched the movie Shawshank Redemption I witness an idea developed mainly by Stephen King that basically gave me hope by helping me see that due to what I call karma, the people that are exaggerating unjust behavior will eventually get what is coming to them. This is displayed well by the showing of all the ignorant behavior put on by the warden and what happened to him in the end. In our society taking away a persons freedom is considered justice because at this point these people do not have a choice. The choices that they have made so far have only gotten them into trouble, now they have given that up and are subjected to be treated basically like a slave. Solitary confinement is considered the most severe punishment that we can inflict in our justice system as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Loneliness Essay To be lonely is an easy thing, being alone is another matter entirely. To understand this, first one must understand the difference between loneliness and being alone. To be alone means that your are not in the company of anyone else. You are one. But loneliness can happen anytime, anywhere. You can be lonely in a crowd, lonely with friends, lonely with family. You can even be lonely while with loved ones. For feeling lonely, is in essence a feeling of being alone. As thought you were one and you feel as though you will always be that way. Loneliness can be one of the most destructive feelings humans are capable of feeling. For loneliness can lead to depression, suicide, and even to raging out and hurting friends and/or...show more content... Generally almost all loneliness can be traced back to low or below "average" self–esteem. Chronically lonely people will usually have low opinions of themselves. They may think of themselves as unintelligent, unattractive, broken, unwanted, not worthy of good things, no good, unable to do anything right, and/or socially isolated. Unlike many other emotionally hurting people, the chronically lonely usually know what is wrong, but like many others they don't believe they can do anything to fix it, or, circling back to the low self–esteem, they may also believe they are not worth of happiness. It takes the strong support of a good friend(s) or other loved one(s) to help the lonely conquer their feelings. Simply trying to counteract the low self–esteem verbally will not do it, though, for in their down state, they will see the person as just trying to be nice or spare their feelings. The lonely must be shown in more subtle, yet clear ways that they are not the useless person they perceive themselves to be. For example, with a person who feels particularly unloved and unwanted, someone close to them should try to take a little extra time to spend with that person and try to set aside a little extra time to talk to the person. Nothing special needs to be said or done, simply spending time, willing and without having been asked, allows the lonely one to see that they are loved. That they are worthy of being associated with and that there are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. The Gender Equality And Education Throughout the years gender equality and education have drastically changed. Some people went through different experiences depending when or even where a person grew up. In the United States Title IX was a big contributing factor in gender equality. "These areas are: Access to Higher Education, Career Education, Education for Pregnant and Parenting Students, Employment, Learning Environment, Math and Science, Sexual Harassment, Standardized Testing and Technology" (Titleix.info, History). In this project, I have interviewed three different people: A late 50sfemale, an early 20s male, and an early 50s female who grew up in the Philippines. All three interviewees have had different experiences that will be compared and contrasted into this essay. During the academic years of a late 50s female who attended school from the 1960s–1970s, before and shortly after Title IX existed, had very different experiences compared to my other two interviewees. During this woman's elementary years, teachers had always treated males and females differently. In kindergarten, boys had a separate corner with toys that only boys played with, and girls had another corner with toys that only girls could play with. Neither gender was allowed to play with the other's toys. If a girl wanted to play with a G.I.JOE doll, she was not allowed and got in trouble if she attempted to do so. Throughout most of her school years, genders were always separated in some way. With the gender segregation, boys Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay on Failed Relationships We live our lives waiting for who we think is the perfect person, but in reality that never happens. When we hear the word relationship, we think of a man and a woman. Being in a relationship is more than just being intimate. There are different kinds of relationship such as husbands and wives, parent and child, or just friend to friend. Some people say it takes two people to make a relationship fail. When two people meet, they usually know from the begining if they want to be with that person or if they want to pursue a relationship. When a relationship fails, it is because one or both parties involved gives up. Giving up on a relationship is always hard because it means someone's feelings are going to be...show more content... Some people cheat with the hope of never being caught. Another reason why relationships fail are because of children, some people having children will help in reality it only makes worse. On the other hand, if a person may bring their child or children into the relationship, and the child and the other partner does not get along that usually cause a big problem. Communication is the number one key to a good relationship. When there is no communication between both parties involved in the relationship, that is when the relationship fails whether it is a man and a woman, or a child trying to divorce his/her parents or friends cutting their ties forever. When couples realize their relationship is starting to fail, they will try different things such as marriage counseling. That is when the couple will sit down with a therapist and they will try to work their problems out. Sometimes therapy can help the couples work their issues out and get to the root of their problems. Another solution is a vacation or a second honeymoon where they can reconcile or rekindle the relationship that they use to have. Or even as far as moving away to get a new start on life, to try to get away from the old way of how things use to be and try to start a new life together again. In a relationship, we have to know what we can, and cannot live without. Being in a relationship means nothing, no one is perfect and in a relationship, there Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Equality And Gender Equality History Title IX was passed by congress in 1972. When discussing Title IX, most people will refer to gender equality in athletics and sports. Although this does apply to state funded athletics and sports, this is only one of the ten areas that are addressed by the law. The following ten key areas fall under the amendment: Access to higher education, athletics, career education, education for pregnant and parenting students, employment, learning environment, math and science, sexual harassment, standardized testing, and technology. The intent of the law is to allow for gender equality across the board by prohibiting any discrimination on the basis of sex. Prior to the law being passed, women in the 1970's were excluded from many opportunities. Colleges and universities set a quota for the admission of women and access to scholarships. They needed earlier curfews, denied tenure, and had more restrictive rules overall. The response to these concerns was the development of Title IX. The law reads: "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." Federal funding does not have to be monetary compensation. Examples include rent assistance, financial aid/loans, or federal training. Title IX came after Title VII or the Civil Rights Act, which does not allow discrimination in the work place Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Essay Growing Up When I Grow Up.. "Being 'grown up' isn't as fun as the idea of growing up." –AmberGrace Seguin Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do 'grownup' things? We spent our whole childhood thinking of what we would do when we finally 'grew up', and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven't made up our mind of what it is we will do when we grow up. We've painted this pretty little picture in our head of what it'll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it finally comes for the picture to be taken off the wall and put into action, it's not nearly as fun as creating the painting. "Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional." –Anonymous We all have the choice...show more content... "The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an adult; the day he forgives himself, he becomes wise." –Alden Nowlan As we continue to grow up, we learn that being grown up is not as we imagined it. We once convinced ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much better once we were in fact grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we think back at our youth and laugh because we thought growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than ever, we crave for our youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of what we are to become when we grow up; and finally for the days when life was simple and we could imagine it any which way we wanted it and no one could do a thing about it. • 8. The Pros And Cons Of Title IX Title IX came to be in 1972. It was put in place by Congress and became an educational amendment. This law has specific sections, and one section states that girls and women who are in federally– funded education programs also including athletics are not to be discriminated against. It is no secret that females have more of a hardship than men in a lot of areas with sports being one of those top areas. This amendment ensures that girls and women will get the same opportunity and fairness in athletics just like men do. In result, females have even had better facilities as well as the equal opportunities. Things have gotten better for females, but this amendment was not welcomed in the beginning when it was first implemented. People complained that boy's/men's sports would suffer a loss because of this, specifically the NCAA and high school administrators. "Title IX passed with little controversy in 1972. Soon after Title IX passed, however, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and high school administrators complained that boys' sports would suffer if girls' sports had to be funded equally. Regulations about how to implement the law were not released until two years later, and these regulations did not go into effect until July 1975. Even then, the Office of...show more content... It is up to Title IX to investigate, but also be cautious of the First Amendment when dealing with students. It is up to them to investigate, but not to force any situation on a student. When this happens, their rights are not being respected. Title IX is there to help and not to harass, but sometimes makes the mistake of doing so without realizing it. This story is an example of how Title IX also has its own difficulties when dealing with different issues and the flaws in the steps being taken when investigation occurs. Due to this incident, Title IX is taking steps to make sure that the victim's First Amendment rights are being respected Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Title VII Of The Civil Rights Act Of 1946 Title VII of the Civil Right Act of 1946 that is an important legislation which plays a significant role in defining the employment procedures in today's workplace. Racial discrimination will continue to be prohibited by Title VII and it has sparked an increase in anti–discrimination awareness as it is designed to promote equal opportunities, equality, and promote fairness. As a federal law, it is unlawful for an employer to discriminate against a prospective employee from being hired based on gender, race, national origin and religion. • 10. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. What Do I Title This With? Tiffany Dagus HRE4M1 Mr. Dispasquale January 09, 2015 WHAT DO I TITLE THIS WITH In today's current events the names Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown have become very familiar, unfortunately in a rather negative way. Both men happened to be African–Americans who were shot and killed by policemen identified as being Caucasian men which raised the concern whether if both cases were examples of racial profiling. Racial profiling is the use of an individual's race or ethnicity as a main factor in deciding whether to engage in enforcement. Simply put it is the use of racial stereotypes and the act of discrimination upon a victim in a demeaning manner. For example: stricter security clearances for Muslims at airports due to the 9/11 terrorist attack or banning Aboriginals from a bar because they will become rowdy when drunk. With all the advancements in today's society – economically, technologically and socially etc. one would think that racial profiling and racism in general would be a thing of the past but yet t is the headline of many newspapers. Racial profiling is not only a social injustice but a prejudice against potential victims that must be removed from today's society and can be achieved so through self–reflection, acting virtuously and taking initiative. The first dimension of conscience is capacity which is the ability to recognize the good and search for it. The good is to treat others equally as well as recognize the fact that we are all guilty somehow. Sadly, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Title IX Essay examples Title IX Great inequalities in the educational system between the sexes have occurred for many years and still occur today. Efforts have been made to rectify this disparity, but the one that has made the most difference is Title IX. Passed in 1972, Title IX attempted to correct the gender discrimination in educational systems receiving public funding. The greatest correction it made was in the area of athletics, but social justice of Title IX applies to many other areas as well. Title IX has an effect on women who are not athletes in many ways, including quality of education, receptivity to education, empowerment and creation of ideals. Title IX qualifies as a social justice issue because it addresses social inequalities. Women...show more content... They could still receive a quality education from their school and thus have the opportunity for further advancement in life. Pregnant students could still enjoy normal student involvement and not be stigmatized, as teenage mothers often are. For pregnant students, Title IX could change their lives. Sexual harassment has been a problem in school situations; it inhibits a student's ability to learn since the student concentrates on the problem of dealing with the harassment instead of concentrating on her education. This occurrence of harassment can make a student fearful of going to school, fearful of authority figures and distrustful of adults in general. A woman who either is fearful or distrustful of men or women at an early age can suffer social inhibitions prohibiting her advancement through life. Title IX's prohibition on sexual harassment frees students from these fears and leaves them able to lead a normal life. Although Title IX does not eliminate the possibility of sexual harassment altogether, it does provide recourse to the student and the student's family through means of liability damages. Restrictions are placed on when the liability comes into effect, but it is a step forward in dealing with sexual harassment. The benefits to female students interested in athletics are obvious, but a secondary benefit to the rest of the female community is Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 14. Creative Writing: Trapped! Essay She almost floated across the empty, box–like room. A cold shiver relentlessly weaved its way down Emma's spine as she ran her bony hand down the bleak wall. The fireplace glared at her – its mouth opened wide. The unfamiliar surroundings struck her as if forcing themselves against her weak body –engulfing her. A soft breeze seething its way into the room from the uneven cracks underneath the door meant that the desolate room of openness had become filled with the sigh of the wind. It was as if it was crying, almost howling for its voice to be heard. The young girl slowly ebbed towards the corner of the room. Almost as soon as she thought things couldn't get worse, the most terrifying sound rang in her ears. The sudden bolt of the bedroom door unlatching itself made her thin face grow pale. And then she saw him. It was at this point that her imaginings were in fact reality. Draped in a long black coat, stood a man – his eyes pierced her skin as he stared almost straight through her. His face – hidden by the dark layers of shadows – was square and pointed. He lurched forward and seemed to look straight past the young helpless girl. A tight knot in her throat almost strangled her. She screamed...but no sound escaped her lips... At first she felt nothing, but then a surge of anger mixed with the overwhelming thoughts of humiliation swept through her body. Wispy tendrils of his hair, brushed against her face, causing her to shiver slightly. She could feel his garments moving against her thin nightgown. She remembered how the night before a gentle touch graced her forehead, a hand, and it moved down her face, tracing her eyes...her cheek...her mouth. She tried to pull away, as fear began to overwhelm her senses, but he refused to let her go. He pulled her closer to him and she could feel his warm breath on her face. A tingle, partly fear and partly excitement, shot through her and her heart Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Kelley V. University Of Illinois: Case Study Titles and Citation: Kelley v. Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, 1993 Facts: Members of the University of Illinois's men's swim team filed a lawsuit in 1993 claiming that the school was discriminating against them by cutting their team and not the women's swim team. The members claimed that this decision was in violation of Title IX, a law that prohibited discrimination on the basis of gender, along with the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. The University of Illinois made the decision to cut the men's swim team due to budgetary limitations. Along with the men's swim team, the men's diving, men's fencing, and women's diving team were also cut for the same reason. There were many instances previous to this case where female athletes have filed lawsuits claiming that they were being discriminated against, and that the institution was in violation of...show more content... In 1993, the law was converted from a statute that outlawed discrimination on the basis of gender, largely exclusion from participation opportunities (athletics), to one that provides "equal opportunity for members of both sexes." Title IX is largely statistical, as most higher learning institutions strive to have very close to an equal percentage of women and men involved in athletics with respect to enrollment. Many decisions regarding Title IX are made for statistical purposes only. Fourteenth Amendment (Equal Protection Clause): For one to file an equal protection claim, one has to prove that the "government intentionally discriminated against the plaintiff by classifying him or her for different treatment under the law than one similarly situated." For the equal protection clause to be violated, a government has to group individuals in such a way that denies them certain rights or provides different treatment on the basis of traits they have no control over. • 16. Still Learning From My Mother Analysis Question 1. In the Newsweek essay "Still Learning from My Mother," Cliff Schneider talks about life lessons he still learns from his 79–year–old mother. Schneider vividly describes his mother in her youth as being very gracious but also very competitive and great at sports. As the years go by his mom grows old and slowly realizes that she is not as physically young as she once was. Title IX prohibits sex discrimination in any educational program or activity receiving any type of federal financial aid. The tone of the atmosphere was funny, and inspiring, because no matter how old the lady was she still wanted to tact young. Question 2. The author used a lot of vivid description. • 17. Losing a Loved One Essay example Losing a Loved One Losing a loved one is like having the rug swept from under you. We make plans for the day, and do not think twice about how those plans can be taken away in the blink of an eye. I never thought much about it myself, until I was faced with the shock, and undeniable truth of my uncle's death. I do not think anyone really thinks about tragedy until they are actually faced with shocking news. It is amazing how we take life for granted. The tragedy never goes away. You just learn how to cope with it and keep moving on. My mom had been going to school in Virginia and staying at my Aunt Ana's house. I need to see with my brother" My mom ran down stairs to get ready to go, I followed her and just stood there, still paralyzed. She hugged me and said that she loved me. I had never seen my mom so panicked. She went into the bathroom to take a shower and I could still hear her sobbing through the door. I was all by myself, now. I was standing in the middle of thefamily room as the words "He is dead" pierced my heart like daggers of ice. I was screaming OH, GOD NO, and started to cry uncontrollably. The realization that I would never see my uncle again struck me. After I got myself under control I went and packed my things to leave with my mother. As soon as we were done we were on the next flight to New Jersey. I come from a big family with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. As I was standing there all alone I thought back to the time when I got to spend a week with Fran. Almost a year ago to the date, most of the family was together for my other uncle's wedding. • 18. Title IX Case Study Introduction Title IX, enacted in 1972, requires all entities receiving federal funds to provide equal opportunities to both genders. A Title IX complaint was filed against Chico Unified, and the OCR made several allegations of non–compliance. Title IX is broken into three areas (participation, financial assistance, and treatment of athletes). The OCR did not allege non–compliance pertaining financial assistance, as Chico does not offer athletic scholarships. Conversely, The OCR made several allegations under the areas of participation and treatment of athletes. Below the allegations are separated into the two categories, followed by the OCR's reasoning, and concluding with strategies to become compliant. Participation Allegations: ...show more content... To prove compliance by prong three, a school must conduct viable surveys of all female students. In 2005, the Bush administration determined that unanswered emails can be considered as a lack of interest. However, the OCR values a survey with high participation rates, compared to low (NIAAA, p.112–114, 2011). Response Strategies/Best Practices An adequate survey must be conducted. The sport should be determined based upon both survey results and the practicality of adding the sport. Practicality should be determined by ability to compete, ability to obtain resources and hire coaches, and the ability to maintain a program long–term. Treatment of athletes Allegations:
