2. REPRESENTATION
We represented gender in our production by having a male detective and a femme
fatale.
Location is shown in our production through the set of a run-down office and
through the fact that film noirs are typically set in America.
In our production, the detective is portrayed to be in his early 50s and the femme
fatale in her mid 40s.
Class is shown in my production as the detective works in an office where the brick
work is visible.
In the picture, the femme fatale looked well made up and the dress she was wearing
looked fairly pricey, this shows that she has money and possibly a high status.
Both of the actors in our production were white.
3. SOCIETY
In our production, the femme fatale was portrayed as a
beautiful woman who uses her looks to manipulate the
detective.
The detective is portrayed as a man who knows that the
woman he is going to meet could be dangerous. He says
“She’s so beautiful, like a rose. But there’s a reason why roses
have thorns.”
4. One stereotype in our production are that there is a male
detective and a femme fatale. This is typical of film noirs.
The clothing that the actor wore in our production and the
clothes that the woman in the photo was wearing are a
stereotype. The detective wears a suit and has a fedora hat
hanging on a hook and the femme fatale wears a sexy dress.
The anti stereotype in our production is that the detective is
English rather than American.
