1. Question 7 of my
Evaluation
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel
you have learnt in the progression of it to full
production?
2. Looking back at the preliminary task when I knew very little about all the
various softwars and sites that a computer has to offer, I now know about the
production of magazines and how they are made. I have learnt how to attract
specific, niche audiences through using and changing various elements
such as colour.
I have also learnt about the different codes and conventions of magazines
and how even though the genre of magazine may be different, the codes and
conventions stay the same. For example, the use of drop caps on a double
page spread and the use of puff’s and incentives throughout the whole
magazine and not to cover the cover stars face, which I did on my prelim
magazine but learnt from.
I have also learnt how to use language and register to attract different
audiences.
3. Furthermore I have learnt what different ethnic, social and age groups
magazines appeal to and why. I have also learnt why they appeal to a specific
group.
Through using different technologies, I have learnt which software and
hardware is most suitable to use, for example, Photoshop CS5 is more
suitable for editing photo’s whilst Quark is more suitable for writing text.
Most of all I have learnt that through the depth of research and planning, you
can achieve your desired look.
