Great Gatsby Compare And Contrast Essay
A story that took place in the Roaring 20s, also known as the Jazz Age that demonstrated the revolutionary of America to be the country of
todayā€“music, fame, money, power and fashion. Nevertheless, in this era, how much will a man do to reach his dream and love, and how determinate
can he be? A wonderful story with a tragedy ending,The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is one of the greatest American novels. Recently, having
the chance to read the book and the opportunity to watch the 2013 film, I have noticed there are two differences between the two and they are the
setting and the characterization. Although there are many similarities between the book and the movie, there is one major difference in the setting of
the apartment gathering. The spatial of the apartment and the time of the event are distinguishable. For example, Nick states, "although until after
eight o' clock the apartment was full of cheerful sun. Sitting on Tom's lap Mrs. Wilson called up several people on the telephone" (Fitzgerald 29). In
other words, the party is not supposed to happen after eight o'clock, nor shall the people...show more content...
The other major distinction is the characterization of Tom expressed in the book and the movie. However, both have demonstrated the significance
of the story. After reading the novel, I sympathize for Gatsby because of what he has gone through and the ending he gets, but compare the two I did
not receive any emotional emerging at all from the movie. On a personal note, the novel feels more sentiment because it captivates and draws me into
the story. On the contrary, the movie did not achieve this in my emotional level; it is true that I get the whole picture of the story, but lacking the
details and the vivid imagery make it less effective. If I were to choose between the two again, I would definitely choose reading the

The Great Gatsby Compare And Contrast
Compare/Contrast On The Great Gatsby Love between Tom and Gatsby is one of the center conflicts in the story. In the novel, Daisy is married
to Tom Buchanan and lives in East Egg. She also has a daughter named Pammy, whose age is not mentioned. Before Daisy marries Tom, she
courted Gatsby before he left Louisville to serve in World War 1, which results in Daisy to wait for Gatsby. In the movie, Gatsby invited Daisy and
Tom to one of his parties. Gatsby ends up taking a long phone call which results in Daisy waiting for him again but gives up and leaves. Daisy was full
of old money. A quote in the book from Nick says, "her voice is full of money." This shows her voice was seductive. In the novel she is shown as
careless and shallow but in

Compare-Contrast Topic Selection
Compareā€“Contrast Topic Selection As I searched for and imagined the many different topics for this compareā€“contrast essay, I felt at a loss for the
perfect subject. It had to be something which would keep my interest for the next five weeks of the course. Also, it had to be something which, in
the end, I could walk away from feeling as if I had learned something and been educated. I wrote down all of my ideas in a list, searched the internet
and the college library, and finally realized that the topic had been directly in front of my face the entire time: compareā€“contrast online college and
traditional college. Seeing that there was enough research and peerā€“reviewed articled to form my essay, I excitedly decided that it would be my subject.
Not only that, I have attended both kinds of college systems in the pursuit of my undergraduate degree and know from personal experience the pros
and cons of both. Technology is the not the only difference between the two.

For me, it has been the best writing technique and never fails to get my creative juices flowing. Despite trying the many other preā€“writing approaches,
such as clustering and outlining, freewriting is ultimately the tactic I prefer over all the others. In the first draft of this essay, I made sure to shut out all
distractions, opened a new and blank word document, thought of my audience and started writing everything that came to my mind. If it had anything
involved with the faceā€“toā€“face and faceā€“toā€“computer programs, I would write it down. Often, I approach academic freewriting as I approach personal
writing, especially when it so early in the writing process for an essay which will be a fiveā€“week

Compare And Contrast On Good And Evil
In the world today, there have been many tragic occurrences that can be seen as evil, for example the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. On
Wednesday February 14, 2018 Nikolas Cruz was charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder. Cruz, a former student of Stoneman Douglas, opened
fire killing 17 and wounded many others. When looking at the situation, Many people argue about Cruz's motive. Authors like William Golding, would
argue that Nikolas Cruz is a innately evil person, his true purpose was to hurt the kids. Whereas authors like, Gibran would argue that we, the people,
failed Nikolas because all the signs showed that he wasn't mentally stable, but no one acted on reflecting that it was our faults. Both of these authors,
have strong views of what is good and evil, which are reflected through their writings. In Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, and "On
Good and Evil", written by Kahlil Gibran, the two authors come up with their own depictions of good and evil. Through Golding's writing, he

Gibran uses repetition of "you are good" which directly relates with the readers implying that there is goodness within each of us. Throughout the
poem there are several different examples, such as "You are good in countless ways," and "You are good when you strive to give of yourself."
(Gibran#) Both these examples make it seems as if he is talking directly with the readers taking it to a personal level to get his point across that
there is goodness within everyone. Along with good there is bound to evil, but instead Gibran sees it differently. He sees evil as a effect of trying
to do good. In one of the first line of the poems Gibran says, "For what is evil but good tortured by its own hunger and thirst? Verily when good is
hungry it seeks food even in dark caves, and when it thirsts it drinks even of dead waters."

Compare and Contrast Economic Market Systems In differentiating between market structures one has to compare and contrast public goods, private
goods, common resources, and natural monopolies. All of these are major factors that need to be considered. Public goods are those goods in which
all of society benefit from and are equally shared among everyone within. These types of goods can be consumed simultaneously by several
individuals without diminishing the value of consumption to any individual. The act of public goods being consumed by several individuals and not
allow its value to diminish is known as nonā€“rivalry. When shown graphically, nonā€“rivalry shows that when each of the individuals within society

Inexperienced teachers have a good subject specialism, this is generally fresh from their training, however not much practical experience in the
classroom and dealing with difficult situations. "For many newly qualified teachers, while pupils provide the ultimate reward in teaching, their poor
behavior was often the cause of the major low points". In some aspects there is very little difference in experienced or new teachers in relation to
their knowledge in their subject, both should know their subject well and keep their knowledge updated on a regular basis. Also both want to make a
difference to their students' life, to teach them to the best of their capability. However there are differences in how they teach their subject, how they
come across to their students and how they manage their classrooms. More experienced teachers will be more confident in their approach, more
prepared to deal with a variety of learning needs, have made mistakes in the past and learned from these to better prepare themselves for the future.
Generally new teachers lack the confidence to teach which can only be gained through experience, they need to learn what works and what does not,
reflect on this and incorporate this into their next lesson. New teachers do however have a willingness to learn, to adapt, and to mould themselves into
a confident and knowledge teacher. In conclusion my insight into the differences and similarities of both the experienced and

Dogs and Cats
A study done by The American Animal Hospital Association say; that if people were stranded on a desert island, they would prefer the company of their
pet. Dogs and cats play a huge role in our lives, weather it's a family pet or a human service pet. They have made their way into our homes and our
hearts with their quirky and fun loving personalities. Dogs and cats have been around for thousands of years providing our ancestors with love and

They are messy, clumsy and will poop where ever nature calls if they are left in the house too long. Dogs claim their territory by urinating on
everything; it's a good thing they are trainable. They will chew on just about anything that fits in their mouth; it takes love and patience to raise a dog.
But on a good note some dogs learn to fetch your slippers when ask for them. The dog is not known for being independent because they can not be
left alone for long periods of time. They require walking and being let out to relieve themselves a few times a day. When alone they seem sad and do
not play with their toys; unless they are chewing on something. Their lack of complexity allows the dog to enjoy the out doors like running,
pickā€“nicks, car rides and swimming. They are not moody and are ready for anything. Dogs on top of being potty trained and fetching slippers they
can be trained to have human service jobs such as; police, military, fire department, rescue force, Seeing Eye dog, explosive and drug dogs. Dogs
have evolved from being wild and harming us to being our protectors and now aid us and rescue us.
People and cats have certainly had a chequered relationship. Revered by ancient Egyptians then reviled in the middle ages as witches' familiars, cats
until recently had occupied a cozy, if often unnoticed place in our households, (Gaille Perry, Urban Animal Management Conference Proceedings
1999). Cats from early history were originally

Chapter seven also has many similarities and differences between the text and video versions. The first textual scene varies quite differently from that
of the movie. The book begins with Mr. Pumblechook and Pip eating breakfast together. Pumblechook quizzes Pip on his times tables, and then the
pair makes its way toward Miss Havisham's house, whereas in the video, they are already reached Miss Havisham's. Another difference arises through
the dialogue of Pumblechook and Estella upon Pumblechook and Pip's arrival at Miss Havisham's house. When Pip and Pumblechook first encounter
Estella, in the novel, the conversation takes place through an opened window, and Pumblechook does not enter the house (689), whereas in the film,
Pumblechook and Pip enter through a creaking wooden door, and the young girl...show more content...
The difference in lighting probably so that the viewer could more easily see the action of the scene. Miss Havisham's attire, both during her and Pip's
initial meeting and throughout the novel, does not vary between the texts. Her white dress and white veil reveal Miss Havisham's history, which
characterizes Miss Havisham. When Miss Havisham first speaks to Pip, there is no difference between the two works. Miss Havisham asks "Who is
it?", and receives the reply "Pip, ma'am". She then questions "Pip?", to which Pip elaborates "Mr. Pumblechook's boy...Comeā€“ā€“to play" (690).
Following learning Pip's name, in both the book and the movie, Miss Havisham instructs Pip to "Come nearer; let [her] look at [him]" (690). Once
Pip has moved closer to Miss Havisham, in both versions of the story, Miss Havisham says, "Look at me. You are not afraid of a woman who had
never seen the sun since you were born?", to which Pip replies that he is not scared (690). In the novel, Miss Havisham replies to Pip's negation by
asking him about the heart, suggesting that it is "broken", but in the video (690), Miss Havisham just instructs Pip again to move

Technology Creating a Better World? Advancements in technology are supposed to make our lives easier. The time it takes for us to travel to another
destination continues to shorten. Computers continue to advance at a rapid pace. Communicating with family and friends from another country has
become easier than ever. It would seem as if everything is perfect. However, that is not the case at all. The irony of it all is that inventions that were
supposed to make us connected to people close to us have actually had the opposite effect. Devices such as mobile phones, tablets, television, and
laptops are just a few inventions that have us obsessed over them during our free time. With the advent of social media, we have become more

Members of society have been so entranced with keeping in touch with everyone, that we often neglect the people closest to us. We would rather post
pictures, write comments, and video chat with other people than our own family members (Wallis 14). In addition to the obsession over cyberā€“space
connection, the bond from sharing quality time with your family seems like a distant thing in the past. The "bond" that the internet provides is
superficial compared to the one a person can build with people. Wallis best describes this when she says "If you're IMing four friends while watching
That '70s Show, it's not the same as sitting on the couch with your buddies or your sisters and watching the show together" (Wallis 18). Turkle explains
this by stating "We've become accustomed to a new way of being 'alone together.' Technology
ā€“enabled, we are able to be with one another, and also
elsewhere, connected to wherever we want to be" (Turkle 4). Technology has given people a false sense of being together when they are really not.
Another common theme that the two essays share is that technology and social media has made us less patient. Turkle attributes this due to the lack of
faceā€“toā€“face conversations. She argues "Faceā€“toā€“face conversation unfolds slowly. It teaches patience. When we communicate on our digital devices,
we learn different habits...we start to expect faster responses"

Growth Mindset Compare And Contrast Essay
"No matter what your ability is, effort is what ignites that ability and turns it into accomplishment." Carol Dweck made that statement, as she explained
her new concept of contrasting mindsets. She called one The Growth Mindset, and the other The Fixed Mindset. These two opposing theories ignited a
spark in schools everywhere, and brought up an interesting question. Are students not teachable because they don't believe they can be? A Growth
Mindset is when, "people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication, and hard workā€“ brains and talent are just the
starting point,"Carol Dweck states, famous author of Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, the book that started the outbreaks in different
mindsets. This mindset is the belief that people can evolve and change if they give enough effort, and persevere. A few of the advantages of
possessing a Growth Mindset includes seeing your flaws as an opportunity to grow, having a more riskā€“taking personality, and leading a happier,
healthier life. However, a disadvantage that commonly occurs is turning a Growth Mindset into a False Growth Mindset, which is the concept that a
Growth Mindset is just being flexible, and openā€“minded, when indeed there is so much more involved. Though the Growth Mindset...show more

In the essays A Web of Brands and Live Free and Starve by Naomi Klein and Chitra Divakaruni, both authors express the different aspects and their
opinions of globalization. Naomi Klein focuses on the effects of globalization. In A Web of Brands, Klein looks at how the changes of the garment
industry in Toronto connect to the factories of Jakarta, Indonesia. Chitra Divakaruni argues that the United States attempts to stop the practices of
indentures, would have terrible consequences even though the efforts are well intended. Naomi Klein begins her essay by describing the look of the
old garment factories in Toronto and how, "no one has come up with a way to make a profit out of taking a wrecking ball to these boxes of brick, and

him to her family because his parents were too poor to provide for him. Her mother treated this young boy fairly, providing him with everything that
Chitra and her siblings received. Chitra Divakaruni uses this story as an example to show that if an antiā€“labor law prohibited her mother to hire the
young boy, what would he have been left with? Nothing. "Every year, when we went to visit our grandfather in the village, we were struck by many
children we say by the mud roads, with their ribs sticking out through the rags they woreŠ’ā€¦Whenever Nimai passed these children, he always

Community College vs. University Essay
Attention: Future college students, After twelve years of school, where will you go next? Many of you have developed the ambition to prolong your
education and attend college. Today, there are many more options than there were in the past. One does not have to graduate high school and go
straight to a four year university. It is sometimes better for a student to go to a community college and focus on transfer courses or simply get an
Associate's Degree. On the other hand, there are young adults that prefer to leap straight into a university and focus on the specific program for their

Everyone knows that athletics are a big factor of any college. In some cases, the larger the university, the more athletics it may have to offer. Of
course spending weekends and some weekdays watching your favorite sports event will cause a lot of fun, but what about damaging effects to your
academics. Many college students have seen a tremendous drop in their GPA's due to being caught up in a football game rather than a textbook. Some
community colleges do have a small athletic program, but has shown to not have as many negative effects on a student's academics. College is a lot
different from high school, you are there because you want to be and it makes it more exciting because you want to learn. The teachers respect you
and are open to any questions you may have. Class sizes can be very important once you get to college. It is a drastic change going from a room
with a few rows of desks accompanied with many classmates that have been in the rooms with you over the past few years. You were able to raise
your hand and have a question answer usually within a few minutes. Large classes do not present you with that simple luxury. Most of the time, you
sign the role and the professor does not know which name belongs to which face, making it harder for means of communication. Community colleges
are focused on having strong teacher/student relations. They allow students to ask questions and are there to visualize the problem a

Cleaning with Barry and Britt
The act of being habitually and carefully neat and clean can make for an interesting topic in a comparison and contrast essay. Dave Barry compares the
differences of how women and men clean in his compare and contrast essay, Batting Cleanā€“ Up and Striking out. In Suzanne Britt's compare and

The way Barry and Britt support their points in their compare and contrast essays differ. In Batting Cleanā€“Up and Striking Out, Barry uses lots of
personal stories and factual happenings to explain his opinions. For example, to explain how men are worse at cleaning Barry specifically refers to a
volcano eruption that happened in Pompei because the men, who were in control of the cleaning, did not notice ashes piling up around and in their
houses. In addition, when describing how men are better with sports than woman he refers to a personal story; specifically a story about a dinner
party that he attended where the men were glued to the World Series and the women were still chatting amongst themselves. These forms of examples
are personal stories that offer validity. On the other hand, in Britt's Neat people vs. Sloppy people she uses more dreamt up incidences to explain her
opinions. For example when explaining how neat people are "viscous with their mail" she explains, " All ads, catalogs, pleas for charitable
contributions, church bulletins, and moneyā€“saving coupons go straight into the trash can without being opened...No sentimental salvaging of birthday
cards or the last letter a dying relative ever wrote. Into the trash it goes" (256). As seen in this example, Britt uses lots of lists and possible incidents
that could exist to support her points, but do these incidences

Compare And Contrast: The Great Gatsby And Today
Compare and Contrast (Great Gatsby: 1920ā€“ Now)
By: JJ Whicker Between decades there have been hundreds and hundreds of innovations and inventions that have been created to make the people's
lives better. But, cultures have changed as well. These changes have been shown by looking back at history through writing and stories passed down
from one generation to the next. These stories have reflected how life has changed through the ages and the different lifestyles that people in the past
have lived. From reading The Great Gatsby, and comparing the books culture to today's age, there are multiple differences in then the two time
periods. To begin, one of the main difference between the 1920s and modern day is the clothing. The clothing back in the 1920s, was more built
around wearing clothing that is more tuxes and sports jackets. During the time period it was more precise and respectable to wear dresses and nicer
clothing such as tuxes and sports jackets. During this time period people wore more suitable clothing and nicer clothing than today's age. For today's

and many other advances through the time. People in today's age don't worry about it being too hot, they just go inside and cool down due the
airā€“conditioning that we have. Another example is with telephones. Telephones in the 1920s, is based more around turn style knob than just a cellular
phone. Cellular phones in today's age, allows us to talk to each other over long distances without being attached to a line or cable. This allows us to
talk to each other wherever we want. Unlike during the 1920s where the only time you could talk to someone was at

The Compare/ Contrast Essay
First, let's explain compare and contrast:
When we compare, we show our readers a subject's similarities.
When we contrast, we show our readers a subject's differences.
Compare and Contrast essays are learningā€“process essays. You learn about your subject as you gather and organize information.
This type of essay takes a bit of organization, and it's this organizational process, this gathering of facts, that helps you learn as you go.
You will create lists of qualities or traits that each of your subjects has, and as you do this, you will discover insights to your subject that, at first
glance, you may not have realized were there.

And you will either compare or contrast, not both. Be careful, sometimes going point by point can make your writing sound tedious and repetitive.
Watch your language and transition words. Use several points at a time.
Ending: As in the argumentative essay, bring it all together. Allow your ending to go back to your thesis. Use the transitional words on the next page to
help your paper's coherence. Transitions and other connecting words and connecting sentences should be used throughout.
Remember: There are no hard and fast rules as to how many comparisons or contrasts you should offer. For a thorough look into your subject, you must
offer enough comparisons or contrasts or both to make a valid statement.
Transitional Words (Conjunctival Adverbs)
Use these words to help you connect your thoughts, your sentences, and your paragraphs:

Compare And Contrast Worldviews
Comparing Worldviews
Worldviews vary from person to person and faith to faith, resulting in everyone seeing the world through their own assumptions and beliefs. Out of
the many worldviews discussed in the text, Integrative Approaches to Psychology and Christianity, and in class three stood out to me for
comparison. These three worldviews consist of Naturalism, Pantheism and Polytheism. Worldviews, although not always correct, are how people
see the world and reflect on our expectations about life. Differences can be seen in beliefs such as if they believe in a spiritual world, a material
world, or both. Worldview's purposes are to explain the purpose of man and the world. All three worldviews attribute the problems in the world to
different aspects based on their beliefs and have diverse notions of how to resolve the world problems. Although a few similarities can be found among
these world views, there are multiple differences found.
When attempting to explain the purpose of man and the world, all three worldviews use different approaches. Naturalism believes man is here by
chance, that humanity just happened and one day it will phase off the earth. Polytheism takes the approach of men and creatures on earth being the
creation of gods and were put here to entertain the gods and spirits. Pantheism believes only in a spiritual world, so everything outside the spiritual
world is an illusion. Naturalism and Pantheism are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum

Great Gatsby Compare And Contrast Essay

  • 1. Great Gatsby Compare And Contrast Essay A story that took place in the Roaring 20s, also known as the Jazz Age that demonstrated the revolutionary of America to be the country of todayā€“music, fame, money, power and fashion. Nevertheless, in this era, how much will a man do to reach his dream and love, and how determinate can he be? A wonderful story with a tragedy ending,The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is one of the greatest American novels. Recently, having the chance to read the book and the opportunity to watch the 2013 film, I have noticed there are two differences between the two and they are the setting and the characterization. Although there are many similarities between the book and the movie, there is one major difference in the setting of the apartment gathering. The spatial of the apartment and the time of the event are distinguishable. For example, Nick states, "although until after eight o' clock the apartment was full of cheerful sun. Sitting on Tom's lap Mrs. Wilson called up several people on the telephone" (Fitzgerald 29). In other words, the party is not supposed to happen after eight o'clock, nor shall the people...show more content... The other major distinction is the characterization of Tom expressed in the book and the movie. However, both have demonstrated the significance of the story. After reading the novel, I sympathize for Gatsby because of what he has gone through and the ending he gets, but compare the two I did not receive any emotional emerging at all from the movie. On a personal note, the novel feels more sentiment because it captivates and draws me into the story. On the contrary, the movie did not achieve this in my emotional level; it is true that I get the whole picture of the story, but lacking the details and the vivid imagery make it less effective. If I were to choose between the two again, I would definitely choose reading the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. The Great Gatsby Compare And Contrast Compare/Contrast On The Great Gatsby Love between Tom and Gatsby is one of the center conflicts in the story. In the novel, Daisy is married to Tom Buchanan and lives in East Egg. She also has a daughter named Pammy, whose age is not mentioned. Before Daisy marries Tom, she courted Gatsby before he left Louisville to serve in World War 1, which results in Daisy to wait for Gatsby. In the movie, Gatsby invited Daisy and Tom to one of his parties. Gatsby ends up taking a long phone call which results in Daisy waiting for him again but gives up and leaves. Daisy was full of old money. A quote in the book from Nick says, "her voice is full of money." This shows her voice was seductive. In the novel she is shown as careless and shallow but in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Compare-Contrast Topic Selection Compareā€“Contrast Topic Selection As I searched for and imagined the many different topics for this compareā€“contrast essay, I felt at a loss for the perfect subject. It had to be something which would keep my interest for the next five weeks of the course. Also, it had to be something which, in the end, I could walk away from feeling as if I had learned something and been educated. I wrote down all of my ideas in a list, searched the internet and the college library, and finally realized that the topic had been directly in front of my face the entire time: compareā€“contrast online college and traditional college. Seeing that there was enough research and peerā€“reviewed articled to form my essay, I excitedly decided that it would be my subject. Not only that, I have attended both kinds of college systems in the pursuit of my undergraduate degree and know from personal experience the pros and cons of both. Technology is the not the only difference between the two. The Prewriting...show more content... For me, it has been the best writing technique and never fails to get my creative juices flowing. Despite trying the many other preā€“writing approaches, such as clustering and outlining, freewriting is ultimately the tactic I prefer over all the others. In the first draft of this essay, I made sure to shut out all distractions, opened a new and blank word document, thought of my audience and started writing everything that came to my mind. If it had anything involved with the faceā€“toā€“face and faceā€“toā€“computer programs, I would write it down. Often, I approach academic freewriting as I approach personal writing, especially when it so early in the writing process for an essay which will be a fiveā€“week Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Compare And Contrast On Good And Evil In the world today, there have been many tragic occurrences that can be seen as evil, for example the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. On Wednesday February 14, 2018 Nikolas Cruz was charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder. Cruz, a former student of Stoneman Douglas, opened fire killing 17 and wounded many others. When looking at the situation, Many people argue about Cruz's motive. Authors like William Golding, would argue that Nikolas Cruz is a innately evil person, his true purpose was to hurt the kids. Whereas authors like, Gibran would argue that we, the people, failed Nikolas because all the signs showed that he wasn't mentally stable, but no one acted on reflecting that it was our faults. Both of these authors, have strong views of what is good and evil, which are reflected through their writings. In Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, and "On Good and Evil", written by Kahlil Gibran, the two authors come up with their own depictions of good and evil. Through Golding's writing, he describes the evil within each person...show more content... Gibran uses repetition of "you are good" which directly relates with the readers implying that there is goodness within each of us. Throughout the poem there are several different examples, such as "You are good in countless ways," and "You are good when you strive to give of yourself." (Gibran#) Both these examples make it seems as if he is talking directly with the readers taking it to a personal level to get his point across that there is goodness within everyone. Along with good there is bound to evil, but instead Gibran sees it differently. He sees evil as a effect of trying to do good. In one of the first line of the poems Gibran says, "For what is evil but good tortured by its own hunger and thirst? Verily when good is hungry it seeks food even in dark caves, and when it thirsts it drinks even of dead waters." Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Compare and Contrast Compare and Contrast Economic Market Systems In differentiating between market structures one has to compare and contrast public goods, private goods, common resources, and natural monopolies. All of these are major factors that need to be considered. Public goods are those goods in which all of society benefit from and are equally shared among everyone within. These types of goods can be consumed simultaneously by several individuals without diminishing the value of consumption to any individual. The act of public goods being consumed by several individuals and not allow its value to diminish is known as nonā€“rivalry. When shown graphically, nonā€“rivalry shows that when each of the individuals within society shows a demand for a certain...show more content... Inexperienced teachers have a good subject specialism, this is generally fresh from their training, however not much practical experience in the classroom and dealing with difficult situations. "For many newly qualified teachers, while pupils provide the ultimate reward in teaching, their poor behavior was often the cause of the major low points". In some aspects there is very little difference in experienced or new teachers in relation to their knowledge in their subject, both should know their subject well and keep their knowledge updated on a regular basis. Also both want to make a difference to their students' life, to teach them to the best of their capability. However there are differences in how they teach their subject, how they come across to their students and how they manage their classrooms. More experienced teachers will be more confident in their approach, more prepared to deal with a variety of learning needs, have made mistakes in the past and learned from these to better prepare themselves for the future. Generally new teachers lack the confidence to teach which can only be gained through experience, they need to learn what works and what does not, reflect on this and incorporate this into their next lesson. New teachers do however have a willingness to learn, to adapt, and to mould themselves into a confident and knowledge teacher. In conclusion my insight into the differences and similarities of both the experienced and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Compare and Contrast Essay Dogs and Cats Compare and Contrast Essay Marielena Mendoza ENG 121 English Compositions I Instructor: Michael Gavino November 7, 2011 I.Introduction II.Dog A.Traits B.Independence C.Complexity III.Cat A.Traits B.Independence C.Complexity V.Conclusion Dogs and Cats A study done by The American Animal Hospital Association say; that if people were stranded on a desert island, they would prefer the company of their pet. Dogs and cats play a huge role in our lives, weather it's a family pet or a human service pet. They have made their way into our homes and our hearts with their quirky and fun loving personalities. Dogs and cats have been around for thousands of years providing our ancestors with love and ...show more content... They are messy, clumsy and will poop where ever nature calls if they are left in the house too long. Dogs claim their territory by urinating on everything; it's a good thing they are trainable. They will chew on just about anything that fits in their mouth; it takes love and patience to raise a dog.
  • 7. But on a good note some dogs learn to fetch your slippers when ask for them. The dog is not known for being independent because they can not be left alone for long periods of time. They require walking and being let out to relieve themselves a few times a day. When alone they seem sad and do not play with their toys; unless they are chewing on something. Their lack of complexity allows the dog to enjoy the out doors like running, pickā€“nicks, car rides and swimming. They are not moody and are ready for anything. Dogs on top of being potty trained and fetching slippers they can be trained to have human service jobs such as; police, military, fire department, rescue force, Seeing Eye dog, explosive and drug dogs. Dogs have evolved from being wild and harming us to being our protectors and now aid us and rescue us. People and cats have certainly had a chequered relationship. Revered by ancient Egyptians then reviled in the middle ages as witches' familiars, cats until recently had occupied a cozy, if often unnoticed place in our households, (Gaille Perry, Urban Animal Management Conference Proceedings 1999). • 8. Great Expectations Compare And Contrast Essay Chapter seven also has many similarities and differences between the text and video versions. The first textual scene varies quite differently from that of the movie. The book begins with Mr. Pumblechook and Pip eating breakfast together. Pumblechook quizzes Pip on his times tables, and then the pair makes its way toward Miss Havisham's house, whereas in the video, they are already reached Miss Havisham's. Another difference arises through the dialogue of Pumblechook and Estella upon Pumblechook and Pip's arrival at Miss Havisham's house. When Pip and Pumblechook first encounter Estella, in the novel, the conversation takes place through an opened window, and Pumblechook does not enter the house (689), whereas in the film, Pumblechook and Pip enter through a creaking wooden door, and the young girl...show more content... The difference in lighting probably so that the viewer could more easily see the action of the scene. Miss Havisham's attire, both during her and Pip's initial meeting and throughout the novel, does not vary between the texts. Her white dress and white veil reveal Miss Havisham's history, which characterizes Miss Havisham. When Miss Havisham first speaks to Pip, there is no difference between the two works. Miss Havisham asks "Who is it?", and receives the reply "Pip, ma'am". Once Pip has moved closer to Miss Havisham, in both versions of the story, Miss Havisham says, "Look at me. You are not afraid of a woman who had never seen the sun since you were born?", to which Pip replies that he is not scared (690). In the novel, Miss Havisham replies to Pip's negation by asking him about the heart, suggesting that it is "broken", but in the video (690), Miss Havisham just instructs Pip again to move Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Compare Contrast Essay Technology Creating a Better World? Advancements in technology are supposed to make our lives easier. The time it takes for us to travel to another destination continues to shorten. Computers continue to advance at a rapid pace. Communicating with family and friends from another country has become easier than ever. It would seem as if everything is perfect. However, that is not the case at all. The irony of it all is that inventions that were supposed to make us connected to people close to us have actually had the opposite effect. Devices such as mobile phones, tablets, television, and laptops are just a few inventions that have us obsessed over them during our free time. With the advent of social media, we have become more engrossed in...show more content... Members of society have been so entranced with keeping in touch with everyone, that we often neglect the people closest to us. We would rather post pictures, write comments, and video chat with other people than our own family members (Wallis 14). In addition to the obsession over cyberā€“space connection, the bond from sharing quality time with your family seems like a distant thing in the past. The "bond" that the internet provides is superficial compared to the one a person can build with people. Wallis best describes this when she says "If you're IMing four friends while watching That '70s Show, it's not the same as sitting on the couch with your buddies or your sisters and watching the show together" (Wallis 18). Turkle explains this by stating "We've become accustomed to a new way of being 'alone together.' Technology ā€“enabled, we are able to be with one another, and also elsewhere, connected to wherever we want to be" (Turkle 4). Technology has given people a false sense of being together when they are really not. Another common theme that the two essays share is that technology and social media has made us less patient. Turkle attributes this due to the lack of faceā€“toā€“face conversations. She argues "Faceā€“toā€“face conversation unfolds slowly. It teaches patience. When we communicate on our digital devices, we learn different habits...we start to expect faster responses" Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 11. Growth Mindset Compare And Contrast Essay "No matter what your ability is, effort is what ignites that ability and turns it into accomplishment." Carol Dweck made that statement, as she explained her new concept of contrasting mindsets. She called one The Growth Mindset, and the other The Fixed Mindset. These two opposing theories ignited a spark in schools everywhere, and brought up an interesting question. Are students not teachable because they don't believe they can be? A Growth Mindset is when, "people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication, and hard workā€“ brains and talent are just the starting point,"Carol Dweck states, famous author of Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, the book that started the outbreaks in different mindsets. This mindset is the belief that people can evolve and change if they give enough effort, and persevere. A few of the advantages of possessing a Growth Mindset includes seeing your flaws as an opportunity to grow, having a more riskā€“taking personality, and leading a happier, healthier life. However, a disadvantage that commonly occurs is turning a Growth Mindset into a False Growth Mindset, which is the concept that a Growth Mindset is just being flexible, and openā€“minded, when indeed there is so much more involved. Though the Growth Mindset...show more content... In the end, the company that used a Growth Mindset seemed to have happier employees, and everybody was treated fairly, and equally. Because different businesses treated their staff differently, the results came to the conclusion that The Growth Mindset seemed more favorable in a work Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Compare/Contrast Essay In the essays A Web of Brands and Live Free and Starve by Naomi Klein and Chitra Divakaruni, both authors express the different aspects and their opinions of globalization. Naomi Klein focuses on the effects of globalization. In A Web of Brands, Klein looks at how the changes of the garment industry in Toronto connect to the factories of Jakarta, Indonesia. Chitra Divakaruni argues that the United States attempts to stop the practices of indentures, would have terrible consequences even though the efforts are well intended. Naomi Klein begins her essay by describing the look of the old garment factories in Toronto and how, "no one has come up with a way to make a profit out of taking a wrecking ball to these boxes of brick, and in this...show more content... (Divakaruni 449) "Š’ā€¦it seems inconceivable to us that someone could actually prefer bread to freedom." (Divakaruni 449) It is a hard thought to swallow, and I think that is what Divakaruni wants her readers to understand. In paragraph six, Divakaruni describes that when she was young, there was a boy that used to work at her house. His uncle had brought him to her family because his parents were too poor to provide for him. Her mother treated this young boy fairly, providing him with everything that Chitra and her siblings received. Chitra Divakaruni uses this story as an example to show that if an antiā€“labor law prohibited her mother to hire the young boy, what would he have been left with? Nothing. "Every year, when we went to visit our grandfather in the village, we were struck by many children we say by the mud roads, with their ribs sticking out through the rags they woreŠ’ā€¦Whenever Nimai passed these children, he always walked a little taller." (Divakaruni 450) If Nimai did not have that job, he would not have a proper shelter, or clothing to wear. Even though he may have only made two dollars a day, which is terrible, he still had a meal on the table waiting Get more content on HelpWriting.net

College is a lot different from high school, you are there because you want to be and it makes it more exciting because you want to learn. The teachers respect you and are open to any questions you may have. Class sizes can be very important once you get to college. It is a drastic change going from a room with a few rows of desks accompanied with many classmates that have been in the rooms with you over the past few years. Most of the time, you sign the role and the professor does not know which name belongs to which face, making it harder for means of communication. In addition, when describing how men are better with sports than woman he refers to a personal story; specifically a story about a dinner party that he attended where the men were glued to the World Series and the women were still chatting amongst themselves. These forms of examples are personal stories that offer validity. On the other hand, in Britt's Neat people vs. Sloppy people she uses more dreamt up incidences to explain her opinions. Compare And Contrast: The Great Gatsby And Today Compare and Contrast (Great Gatsby: 1920ā€“ Now) By: JJ Whicker Between decades there have been hundreds and hundreds of innovations and inventions that have been created to make the people's lives better. But, cultures have changed as well. These changes have been shown by looking back at history through writing and stories passed down from one generation to the next. These stories have reflected how life has changed through the ages and the different lifestyles that people in the past have lived. From reading The Great Gatsby, and comparing the books culture to today's age, there are multiple differences in then the two time periods. To begin, one of the main difference between the 1920s and modern day is the clothing. The clothing back in the 1920s, was more built around wearing clothing that is more tuxes and sports jackets. During the time period it was more precise and respectable to wear dresses and nicer clothing such as tuxes and sports jackets. Telephones in the 1920s, is based more around turn style knob than just a cellular phone. This type of essay takes a bit of organization, and it's this organizational process, this gathering of facts, that helps you learn as you go. • 21. Compare And Contrast Worldviews Comparing Worldviews Worldviews vary from person to person and faith to faith, resulting in everyone seeing the world through their own assumptions and beliefs. Out of the many worldviews discussed in the text, Integrative Approaches to Psychology and Christianity, and in class three stood out to me for comparison. These three worldviews consist of Naturalism, Pantheism and Polytheism. Worldviews, although not always correct, are how people see the world and reflect on our expectations about life. Differences can be seen in beliefs such as if they believe in a spiritual world, a material world, or both. Worldview's purposes are to explain the purpose of man and the world. All three worldviews attribute the problems in the world to different aspects based on their beliefs and have diverse notions of how to resolve the world problems. Although a few similarities can be found among these world views, there are multiple differences found. When attempting to explain the purpose of man and the world, all three worldviews use different approaches. Naturalism believes man is here by chance, that humanity just happened and one day it will phase off the earth. Polytheism takes the approach of men and creatures on earth being the creation of gods and were put here to entertain the gods and spirits. Pantheism believes only in a spiritual world, so everything outside the spiritual world is an illusion. Naturalism and Pantheism are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum Get more content on HelpWriting.net
