My First Day For A Teacher
Middle school, that awkward time when you're too young to be high schoolers, yet too old to be elementary schoolers. We all experience it, most
don't take much from it, but I was an exception. At Archdale Trinity Middle School there was a teacher by the name of Mr. Gary Hunsucker. I will
never forget that name, for he impacted me for life. All of the students wanted Mr. Hunsuker, probably because his class was fairly easy to pass.
What the students didn't know was the lessons he taught. Not only lesson plans, but life lessons. I remember seeing Mr. Hunsucker in the halls. I
can remember his radiant smile, and his humble complexion. I always wanted the experience of having Mr. Hunsucker for a teacher, so I made sure
of it. I applied for Algebra I because I knew Mr. Hunsucker taught that class. Not to my surprize, I got in his class. I can remember how excited I was
to see him in class teaching! August could not come soon enough.
The first day of August had finally arrived, and the first day of school was here. I looked at my schedule that read, "Gary Hunsucker, Algebra I – 4th
Period". That whole day felt as long as the whole summer did waiting on that clock to read, "1:45". It seemed as if the clock ticked only a fraction
of the speed it should. Finally, 1:45 came along and I rushed through the halls, like a horse in the derby. I made my way into Mr. Hunsucker's room

Benefits Of Being A Teacher
Being a teacher is a tough and very demanding job. Let alone being a coach on top of teaching five or six classes a day. We all know that teachers
are not in education for the money and many would say that they are underpaid and deserve more benefits. I of course, agree with that statement.
Teachers work very hard day in and day out to help make sure the future of our country receives the best education that they can get. Another tough

education for the paycheck. According to Shelly Field, the average salary for a coach or teacher ranges from 27,000 dollars to 80,000 dollars (Field 1).
This number rises and lowers due to the location of work, the type of school, and the size of the school. For example: In our district (NISD) the head

My Practice Teaching Experience Essay
Early on in my Block A experience I realised that a major contributing factor to the success, or otherwise, of my lessons was the pace. This is an area
that I have looking at improving over the course of my Block A placement.
The advice given by Gererd Dixon (2011: Online) is that;
'One of the hardest things for new teachers is to inject pace and purpose into lessons while recognizing the needs of slower learners in the class.'
Working out the correct pace for my classes did prove to be a struggle as it does require the teacher to understand the needs of different learners in the

When I looked back at my planning during this time I found that I had not fully understood the purpose of 'discussion' or 'thinking' time and had
instead left the students to their own devices which had generally led to pupils getting off topic and disruptive behaviour to begin. I tried to take this
on board when thinking about planning my future lessons, to try and have an idea of what I wanted to achieve by the end of the lesson.
Using another strategy suggested by my subject mentor I began to use verbal reminders of timings throughout the lesson (see week 11, paragraph 2).
'Think about how people work – we are always more efficient when we have a deadline to meet – and use this to your advantage in the

I found that students were much more responsive with this tactic in place and it also worked to help keep behaviour under control. Occasionally I
would give them a time limit, and then extend or shorten this as appropriate, once I had seen how the students were working. Using this tactic helped
me fully manage the fifty minutes of teaching time effectively and also worked to motivate the students to play an active role throughout the lesson. I
found that to further help myself and my students to stick to time limits I would also have a timer running on the board especially during periods of

Her class of teachers take their jobs very seriously, and do not tolerate students who skip or disrupt their classes. These teachers are fun, because once
you get them off on some irrelevant tangent, they will keep themselves going on it for entire class segments, trying to get out years of thought and
consideration in just a short period of time. This is how I got to know my psychology teacher, because I was the one who kept her talking, so that the
class could avoid taking the quiz that none of us had studied for. Teachers like her have the innate gift to educate and entertain, with their
comprehensive lessons and subtle quirks.
Finally, I come to my high school horticulture teacher, whom I studied under for so many years that by the time I was a senior, we talked to each
other on a first name basis. He belonged to a small class of teachers who are personally important to every young adult. This class of teacher is the
buddy, the friend. The teacher with whom you can talk about anything, be it the trouble you have been having with your girlfriend, the high–potency
marijuana that you smoked over the weekend, or just the dirty jokes you heard the day before. These are the teachers with whom you simply share

As I begin my teaching career and the years prior to it, many ideas and decisions will take place. Being that I plan to teach elementary school and
deal with small children, I plan to be excessive on classroom accessories. Children have a limited attention span and a dull, plain room would not be
appealing to them. The adjustment of leaving "mommy" will be hard enough for them anyway. I hope to make the environment comforting and
welcoming for them. Bright colored bulletin boards and posters with needed information on them. I would like my students seated around the room in
a circle. From experience, I've found that children feel more at ease and apt to speak up when seated this way.
I believe the teacher should be authoritative, especially in the lower grades. The students need to know who is in charge and feel that there is
someone of authority to look up to. Still yet, I want the children to feel a sense of authority, to make decisions and play a leadership role. Possibly, let
one child be "leader of the day" each day; for example, lead the lines or pass out the papers.

This is something that happens to me: in my life as a student I am very quiet, observer, and introverted; in the other side, as a teacher I like to sing

Another couple of friends arrive at this house too and we all get together and walk to school. This walking to school together gives me a good
opportunity to make after school arrangements. Once at school (the walk takes about 15 minutes) I go to my tutor base and catch up with my friends

English requires a lot of work and its quite interesting. All year it's work, work, work, which is hardly surprising seeing that it's GCSE year. I'm going

After the first two lessons I usually eat my lunch. It may seem strange that I eat my lunch at break but it takes so much time queuing at lunchtime just
so I can sit down and eat some food that I would rather eat my packed lunch early freeing up time at lunch for other activities. The only downside to
this is that you have lots of people surrounding you begging for food. Most people would probably just say "No", but I have real problems with
saying "No" and more often than not half my food is devoured by these hungry beasts.

In my school there are many teachers. Each one teaches us different subjects. Although all of them are fairly good, there is one teacher whom I

It has not been easy but challenging and interesting. Unfortunately in this present job I have no colleagues, institution authorities or supervisors, which
means anything I do in the classroom hardly ever provides me any feedback of what I am doing. Except of course for the eventual commentaries I

I make my way to class avoiding the students and setup and wait in the class until the bell goes at half past 8. Outside the kids are eagerly waiting to

In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because only by doing so will the students feel their passion
and hard work. When a teacher strives hard for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to classes in a
bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy lessons as well.
Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or even worse, give up on the students who are not

My First Day For A Teacher

  • 1. My First Day For A Teacher Middle school, that awkward time when you're too young to be high schoolers, yet too old to be elementary schoolers. We all experience it, most don't take much from it, but I was an exception. At Archdale Trinity Middle School there was a teacher by the name of Mr. Gary Hunsucker. I will never forget that name, for he impacted me for life. All of the students wanted Mr. Hunsuker, probably because his class was fairly easy to pass. What the students didn't know was the lessons he taught. Not only lesson plans, but life lessons. I remember seeing Mr. Hunsucker in the halls. I can remember his radiant smile, and his humble complexion. I always wanted the experience of having Mr. Hunsucker for a teacher, so I made sure of it. I applied for Algebra I because I knew Mr. Hunsucker taught that class. Not to my surprize, I got in his class. I can remember how excited I was to see him in class teaching! August could not come soon enough. The first day of August had finally arrived, and the first day of school was here. I looked at my schedule that read, "Gary Hunsucker, Algebra I – 4th Period". That whole day felt as long as the whole summer did waiting on that clock to read, "1:45". It seemed as if the clock ticked only a fraction of the speed it should. We all know that teachers are not in education for the money and many would say that they are underpaid and deserve more benefits. I of course, agree with that statement. Teachers work very hard day in and day out to help make sure the future of our country receives the best education that they can get. Another tough part about being a teacher, and another reason why they should receive benefits, is the extra hours that they spend away from their families to make sure that the students get every opportunity to learn the material. In my studies about being a coach and a teacher I have found the average salary, qualifications of being a coach and a teacher, responsibilities of a coach, responsibilities of a teacher, the education and training of being a coach and teacher, and the requirements needed to apply for a coaching or teaching job. As I stated earlier, we all know that teachers are not in education for the paycheck.
