Essay On The Time I Learned Something New
The Time I Learned Something New
Learning new things can be a little scary for some of us Because of the fact that if I mess up, people that know how to do it would laugh at me and I
would be extremely embarrassed. For example, when I learned how to drive, at first I wanted to teach myself alone, then I had complications.
When I was little my parents would always drive me to the places I wanted and had to go. For example, they would drive me to school, to the store,
and sometimes when I would behave well they would take me to the park. However, one day I got the curiosity to drive and I thought that it would be
easy to do it ,so I decided to teach myself. One sunny, boring, and hot day of summer, the air conditioner was not working in my...show more content...
Learning how to drive was a turning point in my life, because I became more mature and more responsible for my actions and my belongings. This
lead to win my parents trust and they helped me to buy my first car,It was a Mitsubishi Eclipse color black. This car was only two doors, it could fit
five persons, but we would always put in seven people. The car wasn't the best car,but I felt like the king of the world when I my dad gave me the
keys to it. Having my own car also lead to many adventures with my friends. For example, One day of summer vacation, me and my friends went to
the beach by ourselves, of course I was driving. We got on the road at nine in the morning, I was a nervous because I had to take the expressway for
the first time in my life; therefore I was afraid of crashing and getting in a severe accident with my friends. I was surprised of my perfect driving
when we got to the beach, and in a tremendously short amount of time. When we arrived, there was plenty of traffic, so we decided to leave my car
parked and we started walking. Later, we were extremely hungry ,so we decided to go eat and after that we went back home.
In addition, thanks that I learned how to drive, I could take anybody, including family and friends, to the hospital for emergency whenever they
needed to. For example, last month I was at my friends house for a sleepover. My friend called Pablo (the owner of the

Essay on Phobias
Phobias
Fear is a normal and an important human reaction to something dangerous, it keeps one out of danger, because fear is disliked and one tries ones best
to avoid the object or situation of fear. It causes physical changes known as fightā€“orā€“flight reaction, which causes blood pressure to increase and the
heart rate to speed up to pump blood to the large muscles used to run away, to balance this the human body has sweat glands which produce
perspiration to cool the body.
Usually young people experience more fear than adults do (Metcalf).
When one has a fear of something, one normally does not spend much time thinking about it, and it only affects one when one is forced to confront it.
Just about everyone is afraid of something,...show more content...
However, phobia can even cause people to risk their health. For example, the fear of dentists can leave people suffering from it willing to risk the
health of their teeth in order to avoid having to go through an exam or procedure ( MacKay). When one knows about an upcoming confrontation, it
can be the reason why one can not sleep or finds it hard to focus on important tasks. Due the change in daily routine, this unrealistic fear can interfere
with the ability to socialize, work, or go about everyday life, brought on by and object, event or situation. But even animals have anxieties and phobias
just as every human being (www.phobiaā€“help.de). A phobia is an irrational fear, one knows that the object or situation, one is scared off, can not hurt
one, but one is still afraid. A reason for this is that the human mind can not distinguish what is real and imaginary. When one has uncontrollableanxiety
attacks, he loses rational judgement, leading to complicated problems. However, anyone can develop a phobia, men and women, teens and young
adults, and elderly lady or a oneā€“yearā€“old boy (MacKay). Thereby it is not completely clear, what the causes for phobia are. Phobia is often caused
by something scary that happened earlier in somebody's life, but not every one develop phobias after special experiences. An explanation for this
could be that for some people certain parts of the brain and specific neural pathways are associated with phobias. It is

Challenges That I Face As Writer Essay
As a writer there are many elements of writing that I struggle with, especially when composing an essay. When writing an essay, there are usually
many skills that need to be used in order to be successful with the writing assignment. Many times in writing I struggle with explaining and fully
developing the supporting details and ideas in my essay. I would also like to improve on incorporating clear topic sentences and concluding sentences,
connecting my paragraphs ideas back to my thesis. Lastly, improvement can be made in my writing by avoiding awkward or wordy sentences. Writers
face numerous challenges in their writing but strive to overcome or improve these challenges with each piece they write. Writers often face certain

I am looking to improve on this challenge as a writer by focusing on explaining my quotes and explanations in a more supportive way that relates
back to the thesis. Writing can be improved upon endlessly by minimizing your challenges as a writer. In writing an essay I also struggle with
incorporating clear topic sentences and connecting my paragraphs ideas back to my thesis statement. This struggle is based on last years'
experience with writing essays. This struggle can be improved upon by concentrating on what exactly my thesis is stating and building my
sentences to relate and explain the thesis further. Improving on this will allow my writing ability to increase and help me become a more
successful writer. When composing an essay, or journal entry, or just plain writing, I struggle as a writer with avoiding awkward or wordy phases in
my written work. This struggle is yet again based on last year's experience and feedback from my English class. Improvement with this struggle can
be made by the following strategies: reading over my paper more carefully, avoiding the use of words that sound intelligent but don't flow with the
paper, and editing my paper with peers. Recognizing this struggle and following these strategies would improve my writing. Writers develop strategies
that help them to overcome or improve upon their struggles and challenges in their writing. As a

Task Switching
The Cost of Task Switching Humans are not like any other living species. Their cognitive ability allows them to preform both simple tasks and
complex tasks. It is assumed that people carry out cognitive and motor tasks by tapping into their taskā€“sets. Taskā€“set is the cognitive process the brain
takes to perform the task. Every time a person multitasks in order to get more stuff done faster they are experiencing task switching. For example, a
student could be typing notes during the lecture and has to type and listen to the professor at the same time. Typing the lecture most probably will take
longer since the student has to listen to the professor at the same time. From running a marathon to solving complex mathematical equations the brain

Another example of a task switching would be when an Olympian medalist has a 400 meter sprint and then has to perform 20 jumping jacks the brain
has to quickly stop one motor act and start a new one. For us it might seem flawless but for an Olympian in a race every millisecond counts and that
delay tends to raise one's reaction cost. This particular experiment tests if there is a significant difference in reaction time between taskā€“switch and
taskā€“repeat. In other words, when one changes from doing one cognitive task to another does the brain "shift gears" and would the second task will
be negatively affected. In other words, will there be a task switching cost. This may happen since the brain has to stop what it is doing and concentrate
on a new cognitive and/or motor task. This is called the "task set reconfiguration (Monsell, 2003)", and causes a delay in one's reaction time which
ultimately effects their performance on that task. Research has shown (Monsell, 2003) that switching between multiple task tend to raise one's reaction
cost. This experiment recorded the error rate of taskā€“switching versus taskā€“repeat. This allowed us to prove that there is a significant difference
between them and support the hypothesis of "task set

There are arguments against harder sentences and capital punishment
One of the arguments against longer prison sentence is that the prisons are already full.

The Impacts of Science on Human Life Essay
Technology is evolving and scientists are frequently developing new concepts and theories, improving our life style and making the world ultimately a
better place to live in. Science has led to many extraordinary inventions, filling our human mind with vast amount of knowledge and intelligence. For
example, many types of new planets have been discovered recently. Although people have been living in the world for a very long time, it is quite
recent that these planets have been discovered using telescope and other mechanisms. These newly found planets are identical to earth and believed to
be supporting life, which I have found interesting. However, without the contributions of technology, it would have never been possible. Moreover,

For example, Malaysia was not a very wealthy country economically but the improvements of technology have helped their financial system in a quite
extensive level. In the past, they were not stable in a financial system until the effects of complex machinery and the contributions of modern
technology have rationalized their economy. In the essay, The Enchanted Forest, Bill Reid, the author, also supports this point by saying, "We all
carried ashore with us the knowledge that the wave of technological assault that had begun on the other island and changed most of the continent"(Reid
319).Basically, Bill states that how technology has changed most of North America several ways. In addition, this quote is related to the essay because
it illustrates how impotent science and technology is, in terms of rationalizing our economy. In view of these aspects, I would say most people would
agree that it has indeed made our world a better place.
Most importantly, the contributions of science and technology have made our lives more delightful. In our everyday life, we use many ordinary
things, which have been modified through improvements. These simple inventions have modernized the way we do things given that most people are
generally depended upon them. For example, a cell phone is considered as an important item due the service it provides. In the past, when cell phone
was not invented, people had to go all the way to the person's place in order to deliver the

writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about and the style in which I need to write it in. There
are nine essay writing methods which I learned while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal, narration,
process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to
me by the instructor was finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything else became easier. I
would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing
was in its best form. Most of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was understood. My final drafts
were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them. For my exemplification essay I chose to write about the reasons why condoms

Executive Summary The Joint Commission is scheduled to visit Nightingale Community Hospital for its triennial accreditation survey within the next
13 months. The purpose of this document is to provide senior leadership with an outline of the hospital's current compliance status in the Priority Focus
Area of Communication. Recommendations for corrective action are included in this document which are designed to bring the organization into full
compliance in the areas where deficits have been identified.
The Priority Focus Area of Communication includes 3 Joint Commission (JC) standards relative to Universal Protocol. These 3 standards, which are
components of the National Patient Safety Goals, are aimed at ensuring the correct...show more content...
EP 5 requires a written process for patients who refuse site marking or when it is impossible or impractical to mark the site. This written process is
absent in the hospital's policy. Nightingale's policy and process must be revised immediately to reflect all the required elements of the standard.
Hospital physicians and staff must be educated on the necessary changes and the revised process must be put into action. Once these changes have
occurred, I recommend a focused audit to ensure full compliance with the revised policy/process.
UP.01.03.01 requires a timeā€“out before the start of the procedure. The Site Identification and Verification policy describes the timeā€“out process
however the policy falls short of fully meeting the intent of this standard. EP 2 describes which team members must participate in the timeout, EP 3
requires a timeā€“out before each procedure when two or more procedures are being performed, and EP 5 requires documentation of the timeā€“out. These
3 elements are missing from the hospital policy/process and therefore revisions to the process/policy are necessary to include these 3 elements.
Nightingale's Safety Report reveals increasing compliance (nearing 100%) with the timeā€“out process, however as mentioned above, EP 5 requires
documentation of the process. In addition to the policy revision, I recommend the development of a unique form which will be used to document

My Role As a Group Member Essay
I used to believe that I did not perform very well in groups. I am an observer who likes to learn alone. I thought I learned best when I worked on my
own. Even though I always knew group work had many positive values, I was more comfortable with the lectureā€“based approach and resisted group
work merely because it involved change, not because it had a collaborative learning approach. However, during the learning community project, I came
to realize that I learn more effectively when I work in groups. Working in a group was like an adventure for me; there were both exciting and
challenging times while preparing for the learning community project.

During week 9, we posted the articles we thought would be useful to our research, which helped us to get information together without faceā€“toā€“face
meetings. We did not use the online workplace to plan the presentation; we only used it to get an understanding of what the others' focus was on
the topic. After we finished our research, we met at the library to organize the presentation, power point, and plan each other's section in the
presentation. We got everything done in three hours and had some time left over to practice the presentation. I would have taken at least three days
to get that amount of work done by myself. It is amazing how much can be accomplished when people work together. Working as a group was an
exciting activity; we were able to recognize each other's strengths, and help each other with our weaknesses. For example, I was better at making the
power point, while someone else was much better at organizing information. One thing I realized from doing this project was that I was motivated.
For example, group work helped me to stay motivated and focused on the topic even when the topic sometimes confused me. This is because group
work allowed me to interact and discuss the topic with group members instead of just reading articles. Moreover, it forced me to be responsible to
others and, frequently then, to do more and better work on the project than I might have done when only responsible

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and
done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the
middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my
essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I
use to always skip the preā€“writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing,
and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not
have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that preā€“writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it
holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the
importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the preā€“writing that I was fortunate
enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

MEASLES
Measles was at one time in the not too distant past, a killer of those that became infected. Measles has been around for centuries. The first published,
written account of the disease was in the ninth century by a Persian doctor. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website
on measles, it was not until 1757 that a Scottish physician, named Francis Home, proved that something infectious in the blood was causing the
disease. By the early 1900's, the United States began requiring every healthcare provider and laboratory to report all identified cases, with
approximately 6,000 deaths being...show more content...
This outbreak was large and included several states. The outbreak was connected to a California amusement park. Although no source was identified,
it is believed that the outbreak most likely started when an international traveler visited the amusement park during the time in which they were
infectious. The CDC analyzed the strain of the virus (B3) and concluded the outbreak was the same as the strain that triggered a large outbreak in the
Philippines in 2014. That one exposure in the theme park in California brought outbreaks in Arizona, Colorado, Nebraska, Oregon, Utah, and
Washington. The countries of Canada and Mexico also had cases linked to the California theme park outbreak. This is an example of just how
contagious and how fast measles can spread. (Zipprich et al., 2015, p. 3)
Every person that has not been vaccinated by the MMR is at risk of contracting the disease. In the CDC's vigilance to keep the United States free of
measles, it has listed several key challenges. They are the following: * First dose of the MMR vaccine at 12 to 15 months of age; * Second dose of the
MMR vaccine when schoolā€“aged; * Vaccinating all highā€“risk groups, i.e. healthcare personnel and international travelers; * Keeping measles in the
healthcare and public eye; * Collaborating with government and international agencies to reduce mortality and expand measles elimination goals on a
global level. ("Vaccines and

"Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" a Review

Poetry Thesis and Outline
While reviewing "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening", it should be noted that the key is the rhythm of the language. The first, second, and fourth
sentence rime while the third sentence of each rimes with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd sentence of the next stanza. In relation with the cryptic language draws
the question, there is a more sinister back drop of loneliness and depression in this poem much deeper than the level of nature orated by the Narator. I.

Frost further points out that the stretch of woods being viewed is very rural. This is made possible by the reference to the location between the woods
and frozen lake. In closing the final sentence of the second stanza Frost reiterates the fact that this occurs on "the darkest evening of the year" stating
the darkness of the mood.
In the following stanza Frost returns to the horse, which "gives his harness bells a shake". This is the first of only two sounds listed in the entire
poem. Sounds might normally be associated with a person in a lighter more jovial mood. Frost uses the lack of sound to put the narrator into what
appears to be a deep process of thought. As the poem moves further allon it is clear that Frost is not thinking of other sounds or even the feelings which
would be associated with this type of event. There is no mention of the temperature only the implication of the snow falling, and the frozen lake. Yet the
sounds are slightly present, similar to an athlete who is preparing for the event. Frost is quiet, internalizing his thoughts, focusing on the task at hand,
and not sensing the other areas of life in the world around him.
In the fourth and final stanza Frost uses the riming of all four sentences to draw the reader into the climax of the poem, "the woods are lovely dark and
deep/ But I have promises to keep/ and miles to go before I sleep/ and miles to go before I sleep". This grouping leads the reader to feel that

  • 3. Essay On The Time I Learned Something New The Time I Learned Something New Learning new things can be a little scary for some of us Because of the fact that if I mess up, people that know how to do it would laugh at me and I would be extremely embarrassed. For example, when I learned how to drive, at first I wanted to teach myself alone, then I had complications. When I was little my parents would always drive me to the places I wanted and had to go. For example, they would drive me to school, to the store, and sometimes when I would behave well they would take me to the park. However, one day I got the curiosity to drive and I thought that it would be easy to do it ,so I decided to teach myself. One sunny, boring, and hot day of summer, the air conditioner was not working in my...show more content... Learning how to drive was a turning point in my life, because I became more mature and more responsible for my actions and my belongings. This lead to win my parents trust and they helped me to buy my first car,It was a Mitsubishi Eclipse color black. This car was only two doors, it could fit five persons, but we would always put in seven people. The car wasn't the best car,but I felt like the king of the world when I my dad gave me the keys to it. Having my own car also lead to many adventures with my friends. For example, One day of summer vacation, me and my friends went to the beach by ourselves, of course I was driving. We got on the road at nine in the morning, I was a nervous because I had to take the expressway for the first time in my life; therefore I was afraid of crashing and getting in a severe accident with my friends. I was surprised of my perfect driving when we got to the beach, and in a tremendously short amount of time. When we arrived, there was plenty of traffic, so we decided to leave my car parked and we started walking. Later, we were extremely hungry ,so we decided to go eat and after that we went back home. In addition, thanks that I learned how to drive, I could take anybody, including family and friends, to the hospital for emergency whenever they needed to. For example, last month I was at my friends house for a sleepover. My friend called Pablo (the owner of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay on Phobias Phobias Fear is a normal and an important human reaction to something dangerous, it keeps one out of danger, because fear is disliked and one tries ones best to avoid the object or situation of fear. It causes physical changes known as fightā€“orā€“flight reaction, which causes blood pressure to increase and the heart rate to speed up to pump blood to the large muscles used to run away, to balance this the human body has sweat glands which produce perspiration to cool the body. Usually young people experience more fear than adults do (Metcalf). When one has a fear of something, one normally does not spend much time thinking about it, and it only affects one when one is forced to confront it. Just about everyone is afraid of something,...show more content... However, phobia can even cause people to risk their health. For example, the fear of dentists can leave people suffering from it willing to risk the health of their teeth in order to avoid having to go through an exam or procedure ( MacKay). When one knows about an upcoming confrontation, it can be the reason why one can not sleep or finds it hard to focus on important tasks. Due the change in daily routine, this unrealistic fear can interfere with the ability to socialize, work, or go about everyday life, brought on by and object, event or situation. But even animals have anxieties and phobias just as every human being (www.phobiaā€“help.de). A phobia is an irrational fear, one knows that the object or situation, one is scared off, can not hurt one, but one is still afraid. A reason for this is that the human mind can not distinguish what is real and imaginary. When one has uncontrollableanxiety attacks, he loses rational judgement, leading to complicated problems. However, anyone can develop a phobia, men and women, teens and young adults, and elderly lady or a oneā€“yearā€“old boy (MacKay). Thereby it is not completely clear, what the causes for phobia are. Phobia is often caused by something scary that happened earlier in somebody's life, but not every one develop phobias after special experiences. An explanation for this could be that for some people certain parts of the brain and specific neural pathways are associated with phobias. It is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Challenges That I Face As Writer Essay As a writer there are many elements of writing that I struggle with, especially when composing an essay. When writing an essay, there are usually many skills that need to be used in order to be successful with the writing assignment. Many times in writing I struggle with explaining and fully developing the supporting details and ideas in my essay. I would also like to improve on incorporating clear topic sentences and concluding sentences, connecting my paragraphs ideas back to my thesis. Lastly, improvement can be made in my writing by avoiding awkward or wordy sentences. Writers face numerous challenges in their writing but strive to overcome or improve these challenges with each piece they write. Writers often face certain ...show more content... I am looking to improve on this challenge as a writer by focusing on explaining my quotes and explanations in a more supportive way that relates back to the thesis. Writing can be improved upon endlessly by minimizing your challenges as a writer. In writing an essay I also struggle with incorporating clear topic sentences and connecting my paragraphs ideas back to my thesis statement. This struggle is based on last years' experience with writing essays. This struggle can be improved upon by concentrating on what exactly my thesis is stating and building my sentences to relate and explain the thesis further. Improving on this will allow my writing ability to increase and help me become a more successful writer. When composing an essay, or journal entry, or just plain writing, I struggle as a writer with avoiding awkward or wordy phases in my written work. This struggle is yet again based on last year's experience and feedback from my English class. Improvement with this struggle can be made by the following strategies: reading over my paper more carefully, avoiding the use of words that sound intelligent but don't flow with the paper, and editing my paper with peers. Recognizing this struggle and following these strategies would improve my writing. Writers develop strategies that help them to overcome or improve upon their struggles and challenges in their writing. As a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Task Switching The Cost of Task Switching Humans are not like any other living species. Their cognitive ability allows them to preform both simple tasks and complex tasks. It is assumed that people carry out cognitive and motor tasks by tapping into their taskā€“sets. Taskā€“set is the cognitive process the brain takes to perform the task. Every time a person multitasks in order to get more stuff done faster they are experiencing task switching. For example, a student could be typing notes during the lecture and has to type and listen to the professor at the same time. Typing the lecture most probably will take longer since the student has to listen to the professor at the same time. From running a marathon to solving complex mathematical equations the brain ...show more content... Another example of a task switching would be when an Olympian medalist has a 400 meter sprint and then has to perform 20 jumping jacks the brain has to quickly stop one motor act and start a new one. For us it might seem flawless but for an Olympian in a race every millisecond counts and that delay tends to raise one's reaction cost. This particular experiment tests if there is a significant difference in reaction time between taskā€“switch and taskā€“repeat. In other words, when one changes from doing one cognitive task to another does the brain "shift gears" and would the second task will be negatively affected. In other words, will there be a task switching cost. This may happen since the brain has to stop what it is doing and concentrate on a new cognitive and/or motor task. This is called the "task set reconfiguration (Monsell, 2003)", and causes a delay in one's reaction time which ultimately effects their performance on that task. Research has shown (Monsell, 2003) that switching between multiple task tend to raise one's reaction cost. This experiment recorded the error rate of taskā€“switching versus taskā€“repeat. This allowed us to prove that there is a significant difference between them and support the hypothesis of "task set Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Moreover, some people say that conditions in prisons are too soft. There are arguments for the restoration of the death penalty. The wishes of victims' family and friends possibly need to be taken into account. There are arguments against harder sentences and capital punishment One of the arguments against longer prison sentence is that the prisons are already full. • 9. The Impacts of Science on Human Life Essay Technology is evolving and scientists are frequently developing new concepts and theories, improving our life style and making the world ultimately a better place to live in. Science has led to many extraordinary inventions, filling our human mind with vast amount of knowledge and intelligence. For example, many types of new planets have been discovered recently. Although people have been living in the world for a very long time, it is quite recent that these planets have been discovered using telescope and other mechanisms. These newly found planets are identical to earth and believed to be supporting life, which I have found interesting. However, without the contributions of technology, it would have never been possible. Moreover, ...show more content... For example, Malaysia was not a very wealthy country economically but the improvements of technology have helped their financial system in a quite extensive level. In the past, they were not stable in a financial system until the effects of complex machinery and the contributions of modern technology have rationalized their economy. In the essay, The Enchanted Forest, Bill Reid, the author, also supports this point by saying, "We all carried ashore with us the knowledge that the wave of technological assault that had begun on the other island and changed most of the continent"(Reid 319).Basically, Bill states that how technology has changed most of North America several ways. In addition, this quote is related to the essay because it illustrates how impotent science and technology is, in terms of rationalizing our economy. In view of these aspects, I would say most people would agree that it has indeed made our world a better place. Most importantly, the contributions of science and technology have made our lives more delightful. In our everyday life, we use many ordinary things, which have been modified through improvements. These simple inventions have modernized the way we do things given that most people are generally depended upon them. For example, a cell phone is considered as an important item due the service it provides. In the past, when cell phone was not invented, people had to go all the way to the person's place in order to deliver the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Through the exploration of the "Subjects and Strategies" textbook, I have learned nine different methods used when writing an effective essay and how the different writing styles affect the overall theme and tone of the essay when used properly. This past ...show more content... This allowed me to write more extensively on the topic I had chosen which in turn helped expand the size of my research paper. I received a B on my final draft; the first passing grade I have ever received on a research paper. I am very satisfied with my grade. When it came to the essays writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about and the style in which I need to write it in. There are nine essay writing methods which I learned while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal, narration, process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to me by the instructor was finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything else became easier. I would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing was in its best form. Most of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was understood. My final drafts were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them. For my exemplification essay I chose to write about the reasons why condoms Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The purpose of this document is to provide senior leadership with an outline of the hospital's current compliance status in the Priority Focus Area of Communication. Recommendations for corrective action are included in this document which are designed to bring the organization into full compliance in the areas where deficits have been identified. The Priority Focus Area of Communication includes 3 Joint Commission (JC) standards relative to Universal Protocol. These 3 standards, which are components of the National Patient Safety Goals, are aimed at ensuring the correct...show more content... EP 5 requires a written process for patients who refuse site marking or when it is impossible or impractical to mark the site. This written process is absent in the hospital's policy. Nightingale's policy and process must be revised immediately to reflect all the required elements of the standard. Hospital physicians and staff must be educated on the necessary changes and the revised process must be put into action. Once these changes have occurred, I recommend a focused audit to ensure full compliance with the revised policy/process. UP.01.03.01 requires a timeā€“out before the start of the procedure. The Site Identification and Verification policy describes the timeā€“out process however the policy falls short of fully meeting the intent of this standard. EP 2 describes which team members must participate in the timeout, EP 3 requires a timeā€“out before each procedure when two or more procedures are being performed, and EP 5 requires documentation of the timeā€“out. These 3 elements are missing from the hospital policy/process and therefore revisions to the process/policy are necessary to include these 3 elements. Nightingale's Safety Report reveals increasing compliance (nearing 100%) with the timeā€“out process, however as mentioned above, EP 5 requires documentation of the process. In addition to the policy revision, I recommend the development of a unique form which will be used to document Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. My Role As a Group Member Essay I used to believe that I did not perform very well in groups. I am an observer who likes to learn alone. I thought I learned best when I worked on my own. Even though I always knew group work had many positive values, I was more comfortable with the lectureā€“based approach and resisted group work merely because it involved change, not because it had a collaborative learning approach. However, during the learning community project, I came to realize that I learn more effectively when I work in groups. Working in a group was like an adventure for me; there were both exciting and challenging times while preparing for the learning community project. The original research question our group came up with was "How can an individual influence a...show more content... During week 9, we posted the articles we thought would be useful to our research, which helped us to get information together without faceā€“toā€“face meetings. We did not use the online workplace to plan the presentation; we only used it to get an understanding of what the others' focus was on the topic. After we finished our research, we met at the library to organize the presentation, power point, and plan each other's section in the presentation. We got everything done in three hours and had some time left over to practice the presentation. I would have taken at least three days to get that amount of work done by myself. It is amazing how much can be accomplished when people work together. Working as a group was an exciting activity; we were able to recognize each other's strengths, and help each other with our weaknesses. For example, I was better at making the power point, while someone else was much better at organizing information. One thing I realized from doing this project was that I was motivated. For example, group work helped me to stay motivated and focused on the topic even when the topic sometimes confused me. This is because group work allowed me to interact and discuss the topic with group members instead of just reading articles. Moreover, it forced me to be responsible to others and, frequently then, to do more and better work on the project than I might have done when only responsible Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 14. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the preā€“writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that preā€“writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the preā€“writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Depreciation: Depreciation is "the method that the accountants use to allocate the cost of equipment and other assets to the total cost of products and services as shown on the income statement" (Berman, Knight, & Case, 2013). Depreciation is said to be based on the same fundamentals as accruals in that a company "wants to match as closely as possible the costs of products and services with what was sold" (Berman et al., 2013). The idea is to spread the cost of the expenditure over the useful life of the item over the course of time (Berman et al., 2013). Depreciation carries too much of an increase in year 9. Executive compensation, utilities and 4 services, and other utilities and services marginally decreased. Other general and admin expenses actually totaled 172,000 instead of the budgeted 170,000 standard. If operational expenses had been curbed in these areas, then operating income would have at least marginally increased. A2a. Corrective Actions for Areas of Concern. Mitigation: In the future, Competition Bikes should monitor the economic climate before increasing advertising expenditures. The economic downturn clearly drove away sales, and it made any additional advertising efforts almost useless. Competition Bikes should also shape staffing, staff bonuses, and operational expenses such as utilities around the economic climate. The flexible budget offers this luxury. As stated above from the source material, a flexible budget can help a company anticipate where changes are necessary in order to act out proper procedures to cut potential unfavorable outcomes ("Flexible Budget"). In any case, management by exception is a concept that would be beneficial for adaptation within Competition Bikes' practices. A2b. Management by Exception. • 16. Task 2 Task 2, Community Health (C228) Edward Croston Western Governors University Task 2, Community Health (C228) MEASLES Measles was at one time in the not too distant past, a killer of those that became infected. Measles has been around for centuries. The first published, written account of the disease was in the ninth century by a Persian doctor. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website on measles, it was not until 1757 that a Scottish physician, named Francis Home, proved that something infectious in the blood was causing the disease. By the early 1900's, the United States began requiring every healthcare provider and laboratory to report all identified cases, with approximately 6,000 deaths being...show more content... This outbreak was large and included several states. The outbreak was connected to a California amusement park. Although no source was identified, it is believed that the outbreak most likely started when an international traveler visited the amusement park during the time in which they were infectious. The CDC analyzed the strain of the virus (B3) and concluded the outbreak was the same as the strain that triggered a large outbreak in the Philippines in 2014. That one exposure in the theme park in California brought outbreaks in Arizona, Colorado, Nebraska, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. The countries of Canada and Mexico also had cases linked to the California theme park outbreak. This is an example of just how contagious and how fast measles can spread. (Zipprich et al., 2015, p. 3) Every person that has not been vaccinated by the MMR is at risk of contracting the disease. In the CDC's vigilance to keep the United States free of measles, it has listed several key challenges. They are the following: * First dose of the MMR vaccine at 12 to 15 months of age; * Second dose of the MMR vaccine when schoolā€“aged; * Vaccinating all highā€“risk groups, i.e. healthcare personnel and international travelers; * Keeping measles in the healthcare and public eye; * Collaborating with government and international agencies to reduce mortality and expand measles elimination goals on a global level. Annual leave must be distributed fairly and work life balance considered whilst doing so. There is a limit on how many people can have the same day off, two per day. This is explained to staff to ensure they understand that if a request for annual leave is refused it is done so fairly. Engl. 102 Poetry Essay "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" a Review English 102 Liberty University 4/21/2014 Poetry Thesis and Outline While reviewing "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening", it should be noted that the key is the rhythm of the language. The first, second, and fourth sentence rime while the third sentence of each rimes with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd sentence of the next stanza. In relation with the cryptic language draws the question, there is a more sinister back drop of loneliness and depression in this poem much deeper than the level of nature orated by the Narator. I. First Stanza A. Frost opens with describing who's woods we are viewing 1. Does it matter who's woods B. No one is...show more content... Frost further points out that the stretch of woods being viewed is very rural. This is made possible by the reference to the location between the woods and frozen lake. In closing the final sentence of the second stanza Frost reiterates the fact that this occurs on "the darkest evening of the year" stating the darkness of the mood. In the following stanza Frost returns to the horse, which "gives his harness bells a shake". This is the first of only two sounds listed in the entire poem. Sounds might normally be associated with a person in a lighter more jovial mood. Frost uses the lack of sound to put the narrator into what appears to be a deep process of thought. As the poem moves further allon it is clear that Frost is not thinking of other sounds or even the feelings which would be associated with this type of event. There is no mention of the temperature only the implication of the snow falling, and the frozen lake. Yet the sounds are slightly present, similar to an athlete who is preparing for the event. Frost is quiet, internalizing his thoughts, focusing on the task at hand, and not sensing the other areas of life in the world around him.
