          Emotion
       By: Carly Seyferth
The Big Idea: Emotions
• What are emotions?
   – Fear, love, happiness, anger, joy….
• When do we use our emotions?
   – When we watch TV
   – When we read a book
   – When we listen to music
• Where can we find emotions in our daily lives?
   – On the news, in the media, advertisement or shows on
     TV, on the radio…
   – At home with family or friends or at school
   – Last but not least, in art.
Emotion & Sound
• How do you react when you hear these sounds?
• A sound does not have to be emotional to make
  you feel a certain way.
• The sound can be from nature in itself
• Sounds occur in our daily lives and they make us
  feel a certain way.
Emotion & Facial Expression
What do you think happened to these
 people?

How can actors make you feel a certain way?
     Through sound?
There are several actors in our
popular culture, can you name
some that influence the way
you feel?
                     What about
                     through make up
                     or masks? examiner.com

                                       Through facial
                                       expression?

Popular Culture: Music
• Think, how does this music make you feel a
  certain way?
  – When the song goes a certain speed how do you
    react?
  – If this music clip was defining the behavior of a
character, how would that character behave?
  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6SHsF1n9Qw
Popular Culture: Movies
• How do movies make you react a certain way?
  – What about the lighting, does it depict a certain mood?
  – Think about the body language
  – The tone of voice
  – How did the woman react?
  – What were the kids thinking?

  make you feel?

• What would you do to
  prevent these events from
  happening?

  uses color?
  – How do colors manipulate how we feel?
