1. B324 Production Portfolio (30%)
The Production Portfolio is graded on 3 things:
1. Planning and research = 30 marks
2. Construction = 60 marks
3. Evaluation = 30 marks
The whole project is worth 120 marks in total.
The Brief
You are to create a music promotional video with a supporting storyboard. The length of the promo will reflect the length of the music
track – it should be no more than 3 minutes long3 minutes long
All material must be original and produced by the candidates, with the exception of the music or audio effects. Each group member is
expected to take on a specific role such as director, camera operator or editor. You must decide this in your group.

The Production
Planning & Research
The Production Portfolio will be a folder of your planning and research. Your folder will consist of the following:
• Drafts of all scripts written
• Photos and graphics used – all original images/graphics to be included as well as edited photos/graphics
• Evidence of research undertaken – for example music trailers viewed and analysed
• Evidence of planning – still test shots, sketches and storyboards created from the initial ideas to the final idea.
• Key dates, decisions and deadlines YOU have set
• A record of YOUR contribution to the production such as:
o Camerawork
o Photography
o Interviews
o Copywriting
o Design
o Audience research
o Redrafting and/or editing
Construction
Your construction will be marked as an individual and based on the following criteria:
• Holding a shot steady, where appropriate
• Framing a shot, including and excluding elements as appropriate
• Using a variety of shot distances as appropriate
• Shooting material appropriate to the task set
• Selecting mise en scène, including colour, figure, lighting, objects and setting
• Editing so that meaning is apparent to the viewer
• Using appropriate shot transitions for the task set
• Using sound with images and editing appropriately for the task set
• Using titles effectively, if appropriate.
To achieve highly in your construction you must do all of the above showing excellence. You are also expected to import your video
onto a DVD. You MUST be able to use this DVD on any DVD play and or computer for the moderator to view.
Evaluation
2. Your evaluation will be done in exam conditions. It should be done as a written commentary. The written commentary should be
between 500-800 words.
