6. SURVEY ON CORONA PANDEMIC AND
FALLOUT ON FAMILIES
India had one of the highest COVID-19 infection rates in the world with over 2.5 million confirmed cases and the death.
However, since March 2020, there has been an upsurge in the spread of the infection. In response, the Government imposed
a nationwide lockdown to prevent community transmission of the infection. Everyone in India has experienced closure of
educational and training institutions; hotels and restaurants; malls, cinemas, gyms, sports centers; and places of worship . Yet
there have been no such systematic efforts to our knowledge.
Majority of Indians, social distancing is a luxury they can’t afford. Many face hunger and starvation in the absence of daily
wages that have been disrupted as the world’s seventh-largest economy grinds to a halt. On March 26, India announced a
$22.5 billion relief package to help the country’s poorest people sustain and feed themselves. The government plans to use
existing welfare schemes to roll out the relief measures, which include free food distribution and cash transfers to millions of
low-income families across the country.
7. This pandemic taught us different life lesson and made us experiencing new things in our life
Whether it be staying home 24/7 or attending virtual school, we were able to carry on our normal life without getting out of the
house is due technology. whatever we had to suffer in the lockdown would have had effected us multifold, if technology would not
be there. People who were not near to their families were able to see them through video calls, messages and through social
media apps.We as a society were able to handle the situation due to technology as we were connected, we were sharing
information which was required to be conveyed in those non-favorable times. There were option to get things at your doorstep
without going out with some terms and conditions.
8. People were taking initiative to help each other as there were many who were in the need of help and they were able to
approach for the help due to uses of social media and advanced technology. Even the vaccination process was able to succeed
due to the help of technology and its components . People who had given a lot much importance to their professional lives,
were able to sit with their families under a floor and lived the moments which actually matter. People got to know how
privileged they were when they were not able to access to certain things which were so easy to get, be it their favorite street
food or their maid who used to cook delicious food daily. People could understand the importance of each and everything.
People were losing their near and dear ones in front of their eyes and they were not able to do anything no matter how
powerful or affluent they were. There is something which was not in the hands of anyone, about which nothing could be done.
The only thing that was important at that time was hope and faith. People were trying to be positive and they were trying to
give moral support to each other to fight this uncertain battle. With love, harmony and support world was able to finally come
out of something which was so dangerous and scary . People were faced with fears of contracting this unknown virus, of
hospitalizations and of losing loved ones. People were thrown into the depths of boredom, frustration and loneliness during
the times of lockdown . Instead of sulking in the negatives, the situation eventually taught people to view life through a
positive lens. People understood how important is to value things which are with them as we never know what’s next. staying
grateful is the biggest lesson of the corona period . The pandemic stirred a lot of anger and frustration from within the nation,
especially in terms of politics and mask mandates. There is nothing more to the world than a good behavior and a helping
hand. During corona, people got help form strangers, which made everyone understand the importance of humanity. Even the
smallest act of kindness is powerful enough to make someone to win over something as deadly as coronavirus.
9. Students are made to sit back at home and switch to the “new normal” – online learning, for an unknown duration. This
transition from a “brick and mortar” classroom to online learning seems to be the only and most effective education
alternative to help kids continue learning from a place of their comfort. Needless to say, the e-learning marketplace has grown
enormously in the past year. However, most parents did not accept it with all their hearts. Some parents love online learning,
while some hate it. Most parents think remote learning is suitable for matured students, self-disciplined and motivated, but
not for those dependent on others for support or are new to learning. Many parents see virtual schools as a silver bullet.
Other best things that parents appreciate- customized learning. They believe that students can learn at their own pace in
online learning, so struggling to keep a gifted student engaged or struggling up to speed is solved . Some parents like the level
of convenience offered through e-learning. They find that online learning saves them much time and concentrates on other
productive activities.
10. Another feature most valued in online education is flexibility. Since everything is available online, students accessing study
materials and learning new things have become very convenient. And, also have the preference to choose the time to learn
according to their suitability. Besides, online learning allows slow learners to take time to grasp the concept. They are allowed
to learn at their own pace . Parents also love the fact that online learning allows them to teach and support their children at any
time and anywhere. Parents are relieved of paying extra money for their children in travel school and other additional
stationery expenses, the tuition since online learning has emerged. E-learning programs are cheaper than offline coaching
courses. Everything is available online at no cost, from online classes to improving online textbooks’ knowledge and skills.
While there are many online tools for parents to monitor their progress, parents are concerned that children may not get the
same triggers in class. This may be a reason for students to slip behind . For kids who love to engage in sports, meetings, clubs
and the social world of school, the virtual school can be isolating. Not all students love school. They look for more spare time,
and they end up getting much amount to too much freedom in online schooling. Virtual tuition can provide the perfect recipe
for the student’s failure more interested in the advanced party than the advanced placement classes.
Next, good thing that sometimes parents do not need to drive their child to online courses after school. The convenience
provided allows parents to be carefree and at the same time gives the necessary personalized guidance.
