Student rights violation in university of Gujrat
(HAFIZ HAYYAT)
2. Student right
violation
through
transport
University buses run on different routes to pick up
and drop off students in Jhelum, Gujranwala and
Gujarat districts.
Students reported that they had to wait hours to
get on university buses and then had to wait two
to three hours on campus to get on the buses to
get home.

3. CONDITION
OF THE
BUSES
This agony has adversely affected their
studies as they waste a lot of time waiting for
buses to come and go home.
Many students face problems in buses due to
lack of seats. Bus stops and university buses
are so crowded that students get tired before
coming to the university because they do not
get a seat in the bus so they have to travel
standing up.
4. Student
victimization
and it effects
Victimization is associated with increased
levels of physical and mental health
problems, low academic achievement and
behavioural difficulties.
Several interventions are available although
few have been tested empirically or
designed to meet the specific needs of the
victims.
Despite increased attention by both
scientists and the public on the victimization
of students in institutions, the literature on
these constructs is rather limited.

6. Risk Factors for Victimization
• While it may seem like some students are simply
unlucky and are victimized for no apparent reason,
there are risk factors for university victimization that are
very real.
• Adolescents are in a phase of life permeated by
hormonal changes and the need to define oneself as
they develop adult personalities.
• They are often under a great deal of stress and can also
be influenced by the behavior of parents who lack
integrity or who are bullies themselves.
• Parental neglect as well as the local presence of
delinquent peers are also factors that may lead to
victimization.
• Some students, like Bob Moore, may appear vulnerable
because of a condition like acne or even simply due to
personality traits like shyness.
Effect of victimization:
• The effects of university
victimization can be insidious and
destructive.
• University victimization causes
suffering for everyone involved,
including students, their parents,
and teachers.
7. Effects on Students
• Because of their age, students are
often the most vulnerable to
university victimization.
• They are still discovering their own
personalities and becoming who
they will be as adults.
• However, university bullying can
lead to; victimization can cause
insomnia, poor academic
performance, and chronic anxiety
or depression.
Problems with sleeping and eating
• Students who are bullied may be concerned
about their weight and may become
anorexic or bulimic. They may resort to
stress eating, or consuming junk foods that
they find comforting.
• Poor academic performance:
• A bullied student is distracted by fear and
anxiety and will often find it more difficult to
concentrate on university work.
• Chronic anxiety or depression:
• Bullying can make a student question his or
her own worth and identity. This can lead to
mental health issues like anxiety and
depression that need to be addressed by a
professional.
8. Effects on Teachers
• Teachers who are the victims of
university bullying or violence from
students or parents often become hyper
vigilant, a state of being excessively
alert or aware of potential threats from
surroundings.
• Teachers may become burned out and
find it difficult to enjoy the rewards of
teaching.
• They may suffer similar anxiety and
depression as do bullied students, or
may even seek a change of career.
Effects on Parents
• Every day that parents send their child to
university, they must trust a system outside
the home to care for that child.
• When a parent is aware that there is
bullying, intimidation, or violence occurring
at the child's university, he/she often feels
helpless and powerless.
• Such parents may suffer from the many
health effects of stress, including
headaches, stomach problems, or even
heart and respiratory issues.
• They may also feel that they have somehow
failed in raising their child.
9. Connection to Crime
• Students who enter the juvenile criminal justice system are often victims of some type of
family conflict, substance abuse, or other emotional trauma.
10. STUDENT RIGHTS VIOLATION (
BY STAFF, TEACHERS)
• Students are the integral part of a society and they have many rights like other citizens of
the nation. Talking about students of university as they are the future of the country
nearby and are going to serve for the nation they must have the basics rights to study and
enjoy the life before the real struggle begin.

11. RIGHTS OF
STUDENTS
THAT HAVE
BEEN
VIOLATED IN
UOG
Right of selection at merit
• Most of students are capable of selection but they are rejected
and the other students who don’t deserve get the seat just
because of commendation by higher authority.
Freedom of speech
• Students are not allowed to speak for their rights if they will get
out of university although it’s a basic right to speak out for your
rights but within limits.
Favouritism
• The right of equality of students is violated as they are not
evaluated on the bases of their rights rather they are evaluated
on the basis of personal preferences and relationships.
Rights of the financial aids
• Most of the deserving students who lack financial aid are not
provided with it due to which it become difficult for them to
continue their study and hence they left their dreams, just
because of the lack of financial aid provided by the institute.
12. • Most of time it is expected from students to b
punctual but this punctuality is mostly not followed
by teachers and they take students for granted
and let then wait for minutes and hours and
sometime they even don't take class and let
students waiting for them which is ethically wrong.
Students have right to ask questions but
sometime in university students are not responded
back and if they get insulted for asking question
although it’s their right to clarify things if they don't
get them because its they right to get knowledge
and clarify their concepts because it’s the main
purpose for which they are attended the class.
• Sometime students are not given respect
and they are insulted so badly that their
self-respect hurt badly and they get
depressed so they should also give
respect. Students are also not given grade
fairly which is also one of the basic
violation of their rights. There is huge level
of favouritism in UOG. Sometimes
teachers do not check papers, instead of
checking papers they give marks to the
students on the bases of Presentation or
quizzes. It actually happened a lot that
teachers don't give grades just because of
their personal enmity and they drop poor
students for that.
