1) The document discusses the challenges students face with college admissions after completing 12th standard and graduation.
2) It notes that admissions are closely tied to being able to study in college, and that colleges rely on admissions for their future success.
3) Students experience stress and confusion during the admissions process as they must decide between fields like engineering or medicine, without always having clear career ambitions. Parents and guidance from others can sometimes lead students to pursue programs that are not a good fit.
1. COLLEGES AND ADMISSIONS
These two words can amend the life of a student especially after XII standard and Graduation.
Because these are proportionate to each other in such a way, without admission there is no entry
to study in a college and without getting adroit number of admissions there is no future for a
college. Let us talk about the colleges for a while: the reflecting rays of the colleges have a
significant impact on the student where Exam acts a mirror.
Now, let us know why the students are in plight during the time of admissions. Not only the
entrance tests, but also the admission to a particular College/University impose a bigoted pressure
on the student because at the age after the completion of XII standard, they are in a dilemma to opt
for Engineering or Medicine or merely go for a degree. The confusion takes place because at that
age their minds will be in a fluctuating mode naturally so they can’t stick to a particular ambition
in their life. In some situations where parents are uneducated, can’t help the students to choose a
better stream which the student ought to get into. There’s a live example “A student after the
completion of X joined in M.E.C. group in Intermediate, as he want to become a CA. On
completion of the two months in M.E.C., he travelled back to home saying that he don’t want to
study M.E.C. as he is feeling that it was a dry subject and taken up M.P.C.” There may be these
kind of situations even after the completion of XII because most of the students bothered to say to
their classmates that they’re studying in a college with huge buildings no matter what the quality
of education and input they are getting.
The first and the foremost thing every student should keep in mind is that to rivet to a career what
they want to become after the completion of studies. This game plan can devoid him to choose the
best prospects in his future education. Some of the students can’t be able to adjudicate themselves
about what they want to study and what is their life ambition. So, they ask their relatives or
neighbors for a free advice. The main muddle taking place here is that following the suggestion of
their well-wishers they can’t sustain in their stream and finally blemishing their bright future. At
present, it is admission time and there is a lot of perplexity in the mind of students. It is the
responsibility of parents who have to be taken care of. This is one kind of mess taking place in the
students after the completion of XII.
2. The same type of furore is taking place in the students after the completion of graduation.
Graduating from college can be exciting, but the life after college can be petrifying and stressful.
Students are faced with major commitments such as launching a job search, deciding to begin an
illustrious career, relocating or continuing their education. This can a little exacting on the mind
of student. Some students have their life about their future, some of them find it arduous to plan
their future. Regardless if the students plan ahead or not, the formidable decision they make have
a potent whack on the life of students after Graduation.
Here’s a case study:
In 2011, close to 200 higher-education professionals from selective institutions
across the country gathered in the University of Southern California to come up with a plan to
reshape college admissions. “The values and behaviors this system signals as important, and its
tendency to reward only a narrow band of students,” a report on the meeting concluded, is crippling
the mission of education. It’s also undermining “the social, economic, and civic vitality of our
nation’s future.” The gathering confirmed the growing consensus—even among those intimately
involved in the most notorious aspects of admissions—that the system is in desperate need of
reform. The intense competition it fuels undermines students’ well-being; pressures applicants to
fine-tune their test-taking skills and inflate their resumes; and distorts the purpose of higher
education.
Here’s also another example regarding the admissions of the students:
According to the article published in The New York Times recently states that,
“An aggressive campaign to recruit the graduate students from India to study in Western Kentucky
University has ended badly; with more than one-third of the students asked to leave the program
after their first semester.” James Kary, the chairman of Western Kentucky’s Computer Science
program said that almost 40 of the students were not able to meet the requirements of the
admissions, even though they were offered remedial help by the University. He hunched at the
students that permitting the students to continue the program feels like it would be throwing good
money after bad because the students are unable to write even the simple computer programs which
a necessary part of curriculum and a skill that United States’ schools teach to the Undergraduates.
3. While the students are securing admissions in putative Colleges/Universities, there are some
rationales why the Indian students are lagging behind:
There are many reasons where a student’s grades drop, including family issues, illness, switch in
teachers during the year or lack of maturity. Admissions’ officials concede that grades aren’t
indication of capability, so experts say that students need to take time to write an honest
explanation about their grades. Early admissions are eminently competitive, so experts recommend
students with poor grades on their transcripts apply during regular admission and use extra time to
take challenging courses and improve their GPA.
Finally, for students who accomplished XII and Graduation the best way to stipulate splendid
career is to ply their teachers as tutors, visiting them frequently to discuss what to focus on and
what frailties they should have work on.
Sir, I put all my efforts for the completion of this article. I hope you would like this article, if not
please send me a feedback in what areas I’m lagging behind so that I can overcome those negatives
and can step further.
I’m glad to say that I got at least an opportunity to present my hard work.
Thanking you Sir,
With warm regards,
Sasi Kiran Yeluri (B. Tech IV year—EEE).
