ASIA – KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA - WADI HANIFA

2. #CHALLENGE
Constructing a viaduct that crosses the 120 km-long Wadi Hanifa valley in the Nejd
region in central Saudi Arabia.

3. #SOLUTION
Deal has re-designed the superstructure, originally foreseen as a cast-in-place multi-
cell box girder, and turned it into a precast segmental single-cell box girder.
Moreover, our technical office has provided substructure design check, construction
engineering, shop drawings and, later on, temporary works and precast yard detail
design.
Subsequently, we have supplied the specialized equipment and materials for the
viaduct construction and we have assisted our client during all the construction
phases with qualified personnel on site.

4. #OUTCOME
The project has been successfully completed in one year. The time performance is
remarkable, especially for erection rates out of the learning curve : one span (77 m
long each) per week.
