Dear readers,
Muslims all over the world agree that the month
Ramadhan is a very special month. As mentioned in
the Holy Quran it was during Ramadhan some 15
centuries ago that the first revelation was made to
prophet Mohammad. And since then there have been many important events that
happened during the month Ramadhan, including the most famous victory of the
Battle of Badar. Indonesia proclaimed its dependence from the Dutch also during
the month of Ramadhan. Somehow Ramadhan is just a perfect time for reunions.
Ramadhan also calls for social engagement with friends. Many would attest that
the idea of getting together during the Holy month goes along with the spirit of
communal love. Close family members are a priority, but it does not mean that
friends are set aside. Everyone is welcome to share the evening meals, because it
is part of the spirit of generosity.
It all culminates with the biggest get-together of all at the Idul Fitri Celebration,
which is scheduled to fall on the 8th of August. There are so many ways to celebrate
joyous occasion. But indulging in excessive eating is certainly not one of them.
There are verses in the Quran with strictly forbid excessiveness, not to indulge
uncontrollably. Regarding eating, Prophet Mohammad counseled Muslims
“to fill only one third of the stomach with food, another third with water and the
remaining third with air”. In another word, do not overeat.
Here are several tips on staying fit and healthy during Idul Fitri :
1. Avoid excess eating
2. Go for high-fiber food
3. Drink enough water
4. Eat small portions
5. Exercise
So the message that BIMASENA would like to convey to its members:
Celebrate Idul Fitri faithfully but do not go overboard
JULY-AUGUST 2013
Dear Nawala Readers,
We extend to our readers :
Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri 1434 Hijriyah
Minal Aidin Wal Faizin
Mohon Maaf Lahir dan Batin

Shell Indonesia with
BIMASENA host
a Breakfast Briefing in
the Dharmawangsa
Hotel Ballroom on
Wednesday, June 5,
2013 to launch the
New Lens Scenario in
Indonesia.
“Scenarios” is Shell's
way to look into the
future, and see the different possibilities that the world will develop into.
This year, Shell celebrated the 40th anniversary of this scenario planning
practice. And on 28 February 2013, Shell released “New Lens Scenarios”
(NLS) that explore two possible ways the 21st century could unfold. Called
Mountains and Oceans, each scenario dives into the implications for the pace
of global economic development, the types of energy we use to power our
lives and the growth in greenhouse gas emissions.
In Indonesia, the Shell-Bimasena NLS Breakfast Briefing features a presentation
by Dr Cho-Oon Khong, Shell's Chief Political Analyst, and also one of the
members of the NLS team. This morning event attracted over 130 stakeholders
from government, policy makers, academia, business partners and
non-government organizations, many of which posed interesting thoughts
and questions during the dialogue sessions moderated by Prof Dr. Subroto,
the Chairman of Bimasena.
