Ten Thousand Villages is part of an international relief and development agency based in Winnipeg, Canada which provides vital income to Third World people by selling their handicrafts in stores across North America. The company works with artisans who would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed, providing them with both market and product development assistance.
- 3. The income earned by the producers helps pay for food, education, healthcare and housing. Most of their employees are volunteers and they hire dedicated, committed and invested employees who are dedicated to the mission, to work in their retail locations and offices throughout U.S. throughout Canada.

- 5. • Has a solid vision of supporting third world countries, through providing economic development to small villages throughout the globe. • Proven ethical and environmentally conscious practices. • TTV pays 50% of its fee to producers before the product is made - The other half is paid when the product leaves the country.
- 6. • Each volunteer and retail employee is a part of their effort, participate in their retreats, are taught to teach and tell the stories of all villages producing goods they sell. • Recruitment efforts, community involvement and participation is always a goal.
