Effectively lay and install carpet from rolls or blocks on floors, in addition to installing
padding and trimming flooring materials. Demonstrated ability to measure, order, cut
and trim carpet to fit along wall edges, openings, and projections, finishing the edges
with a wall trimmer. Cut carpet padding to size and install padding, following
prescribed method. Fasten metal treads across door openings or where carpet meets
flooring to hold carpet in place. Inspect the surface to be covered to determine its
condition, and correct any imperfections that might show through carpet or cause
carpet to wear unevenly. Install carpet on some floors using adhesive, following
prescribed method. Went on assignment for Marriott Corporation to cities throughout
the U.S.
Nail tack strips around area to be carpeted or use old strips to attach edges of
new carpet.
Plan the layout of the carpet, allowing for expected traffic patterns and placing
seams for best appearance and longest wear.
Roll out, measure, mark, and cut carpeting to size with a carpet knife,
following floor sketches and allowing extra carpet for final fitting.
Stretch carpet to align with walls and ensure a smooth surface, and press
carpet in place over tack strips or use staples, tape, tacks or glue to hold carpet
in place.
Join edges of carpet and seam edges where necessary, by sewing or by using
tape with glue and heated carpet iron.

Measure, cut and install tackless strips along the baseboard or wall.
Move furniture from area to be carpeted and remove old carpet and padding.
Computes measurements, develops dimensions and individual patterns,
makes adjustments to incomplete blueprints, sketches and work request for

Sets up, adjusts and operates hand and power tools; performs minor

suitable for each project and inquire into its availability. Looked through floor plans to
determine the expanse of area that needs to be covered and ensure that corresponding
carpet rolls and materials are obtained. Cleared work areas of trash and debris and rip
out any old carpeting or flooring, ensuring that no damage was done to the floor.
Plan carpet layouts, paying special attention to expected traffic patterns and
aesthetics. Roll out carpet rolls and mark them according to the measurements
of floor plans.
Cut carpets to fit designated areas and use glue or tape to firmly install them
in place. Join edges of carpets and seam edges using heated carpet irons or
tapes and glues.
Measure, cut and install carpet strips along baseboards of wall edges
Nail tack strips and cut carpet padding to size before installing it in a
predefined manner.
Ascertain that the finishing of the carpet is done properly by trimming away
or cutting any irregular areas.
