There, There, marking the debut of Tommy Orange emerged at a
perfect moment. In a country overwhelmed by administration
suppressing their freedom of the disenfranchised and the
minorities, the book illuminates the darkness prevanent in the
American society making it visisble. The captivating raw enrgy
wqwithin he bks firce, uncntamnayed and dedicated in
umasking the plght of America’s original inhabitants. In the
book, he abandons the archetypia stories of Tradiional
inhavitants on the rage nd switche his concertrtion on Urna
Indian Americas whch in the process moves the setting of the
book in his hometown. For amodern reader, the book is
contemporary and grity read nd its characters are individuals
that are prevalent or an be found anywhere across gthe country
or in the bay area.Tommy Orange uses a great cunkj of hstory
ntitiated when aseveral settlers ernged and clkaimed he contnent
to shw case the marginalzation and bredth of the contemporary
American Indian experience sine it centres on the intercnencted
lives of individuals determined to reclaim their land.
The itle of the book is closely related to Gerrude Stein;s
observation bou Oakland. He commences with scorching
foreword invoving fact-based record not known to many.He
focuss on giving a reality check on the history of United
DStates by shating ahe actual happenings of behadings and
massacres, appropriation and cultural annihaltion as evidence of
the techniques used in marginalizing the native American
indiains.sThe author confronts the sanitized story that identifies
Indians as he anonynymous individuals murdered by John
Wayne. In enforcing the marginalization of the Indians, he uses
realistic characters through less known .The accounts mentioned
in the story offer a context of subsequent narratives and offers a
voice to the individuals hailing from the First nations. In
essence, each life mentioned in the prologue offers varying
opinion n what it implies to be an American Indian in the 21st
century.
Orange uses several characters to sowcae how American Indians
have been marginalized over time.Te athor argues that getting
individulsl to lve in the victy was the finl phase of the
absorption, assimilation, erasure and the culminantion of the
500 year genocidal campaign. However, he argues tht te city
revlutionzied heir stand and in the process, they made the city
their omeland.Although there are many buildings and
anonymous masses, the Indian culkture never got lost, they
searched and found each othr as evidenced by indan centres,
However, although they didn’t move to cities to die, the
representative nature of the American dream vries among the
mnotiy as opposed to the majority.
There is a lot to absorb in the narrative based on the narration
and stories of various characters. Some of them are connected
by fate, other by circumstances and blood s they make
preparations for their next events in Oakland Coliseum, He
tends to move and transverse between timelines and uses
various narration personas. He tends to shift from the first-to-
second and finally the third person narrative their experiences
in a rush of fervor and intensity. For instance, in the narrative,
two sisters in the company of their mother in 969 relocated to
Alcatraz Island. Unfortunately, this period was characterized by
the Indian occupation facets between years 1969 and 1971. In
the process, they experienced devastating events that shadows
their lives. However, due to marginalization effect, such
narratives are often ignored in many American history stories
which is evidence of the marginalization effect the traditional
Indians experienced.AS such, it is challenging for a an urban
American Indian to comprehend how historically, they have
been marginalized when such issues are erased from history
books.
Oranges main bjective when writing the story is to showcaer a
multi-vicd and multigenratonal narrative about Native
individuals in Okaland. It is rae to finfd an urban Native figure
shown in fiction. Most authors prefer writing about fuctional
natives s people full of Wise cracks and on reservavton, tragic
stories, wisdom and istorical stories.Howqever, Orange
contradicts all these by presenting character with tragic stories
in bundance. Some of tem are expirieicning a lack of choce,
parental neglectfetal aclool syndrome, domestic and sexual
volence.Yet, there is more meaning t such events relative to
ragecy alone.Orange shows that there is an extended intimate
and deep realism speaking to individuals that fund themselves
marginalized. Some of them go to wrong schools, live in bad
areas f he town and have been provided access to none plenty
of the American life except yearning for it.
Lthough there has been a lot of researvation literature on
Marginalization of Ntive Americans, Organge’s piece is an epic
that showcs the complexity of his ubringing and ambivalience.
He fcussed on letting his charcaers struggle in the way he was
brough and the manner other Ntiver Americans struggle with
autheticitya nd identify. For instance, sisters Red Feather ad
Opal Viola arr a grea example n the bookwhose life relates
closely to the autor.Teir dulthood is gfreately influenced by
their childhood upringing as members of the Indian tribe that
experienced genocide during the Indian OIccupation period in
1960s.Orvil also attempts to learn danig lessons from Youtube;.
Although he prdes in his dancing ability, he struggles t
comprehend why adults living around him always forbid him
because it is risky. In other words, Orange shows that in
American society, Native Indians are so marginalized that they
are not allowed to do anything Indian.
The novel is wrrte in short epics with various perspecytves
revolving a round the twelve charcters identified at crucial
moments of their lves. Surpsiring, all these are leading to a
primary Indn even in Oakland where a tragic voence
happens. The interconnected stores provide a combaintnion of
the contemporary and cientn the conflict, between relaiy and
dreams ,. However, The autor attempts to traverse being he
snarratves prevakent abut Native Americans. AS opposed to
referencing any native isues specficially, The novel title appears
ias a reference to amuci song in ne segemen a. It also apprears
in aother as Gerrude Stein’s Quote about Oakland.
Organge also uses the intergration of urbn culture and 21s
century technology to show the effect of Marginalizaton tto
the American Indians. Altough he carcaters ues have
limitations, they are human due to their masks.Their characrers
voice re xemplarily everlaed but the most strkng issues is he
digitalization and urbanization element in the book.Alkthough
the native d4rumming and powpow culture are crucial,
cellphones, social media, drones, Youtube and a dedly-3-D
printer is present.Bsed on the historic realism of the native
Americans, the theme of margnalization and symabolism is
evident in both segments. It s psisble to comprehend the concept
of urbanity and the role marginalization as played in te
character and behavior f Urbanized American Indians. He
explains urbaniry oin an illuminative and advocacy amanner
against colonialism, rcism and all those individuals focusing on
defning Indians. For instance, although traditional Indians were
judged as people of low intelligenge, they had a deeper opinion
of what individuals mean when they say one thing but imply
another. In the novel, Orange Ues L0neman to showcase how
many Americans uses negative perception to marginalize
Indians.
The Urban American Indian history is wrapped in their heritage.
For instance, A boy finds a regalia making him believe that the
only thing he can d is to dance at the Powwow. Anther gang
attempts a robbery with fake guns and an overweight young man
attempt to engage with the world using her computer. All these
depictions of urbanized American Indians in the 21st century
shows hat, many Indians whenever they attempt to embrace
their culture; they see a copy, a fake. However, despite all this,
they are required to act, behave, dance and dress like an Indian
even if they feel weird. In other words, the only way they can
become Indian is to act and look like an Indian. In other words,
being an Indian or not relies in such issues. Much Native
American experience embraces a reservation perspective.
However, through the characters actions, Orange clearly shows
that he emanates from a different generation and is not afraid to
sow the conscious of marginalization prevalent in the American
culture.
The character involved in Orange’s novel is different. However,
they all possess a sense interaction to the intersection of their
personal identities and their cultural identities and Native
American Indians. Blue, Red Feather and Edwin black are in
the novel showcased worrying about their native capacity. They
believe that they are unfit to be native or are native but in
wrong manners. They are attempting to reconcile what it implies
to be Native American. AS they attempt to visualize their
Native capacity within the community, Orange believes hat
identifying oneself in an extensive cultural identity can help
them comprehend their real self on a personal level. As such,
Orange uses the confusion of the Character to showcase the
marginal nature that the alienation and assimilation of the
Native Americans has caused to many people. There are many
Native Americans still struggling with personal identity versus
Cultural identity due to marginalization. Tommy Orange
provides a gruesome and unflinching depictions of violence,
cruelty and attempted genocides which have marginalized,
depleted and ravaged the indigenous populations in Central,
South and Central America since the beginning of the year
1400s.The legacy of such generation tragedy to address daily,
the tutor recommended a contemporary Native community is
now turning o suicide and substance abuse o cope with the
increasing pin of isolation, fear, trauma and pain. The way
generational pain affects the Characters in the novel, organ
showcases he pain marginalization is causing to the American
Indian communities and how they have been forced to
experience since the ancient period. The author argues that
until there is an extensive reckoning a of extermination, history
of colonization and assimilation the American Indians were
forced o experience, many native communities will be
entangled in a viscous cycle of trauma, suffering and pain.
Ewin black who was raised by a White mother has been trying o
understand who he is. Although h s totally ignorant of his native
father, he has failed to establish a viable personal identity that
permits him to prosper. After experiencing positive beginning to
n academic career, his childhood upbringing has affected hs
growth. He spends a reasonable amount of time on digital
platforms avoiding the outside and lived in his mothers home.
After reaching out to his Father via facebook, he discovers his
father’s tribe, he becomes less interested. He is worried about
what a real connection will affect him. The constipation Edwin
experiences shows how much he has been suffocated by his
roots and the America structure. Yet, as the novel progresses,
all he characters including Edwin finds themselves at he
PowPow. AS soon as Edwin discovers his cultural identify, he
unleashes his strength and commences pursing his dream. He
succeeds because of his connection to his extensive Native
Community.AS such, Edwin’s experience shows that although
the Native Americans were moved to the city as a way of
assimilation, absorption , they remained marginalized which
forced them to find each other and start various Indian centers
marked by events such as PowPow.

  • 1. There, There, marking the debut of Tommy Orange emerged at a perfect moment. In a country overwhelmed by administration suppressing their freedom of the disenfranchised and the minorities, the book illuminates the darkness prevanent in the American society making it visisble. The captivating raw enrgy wqwithin he bks firce, uncntamnayed and dedicated in umasking the plght of America’s original inhabitants. In the book, he abandons the archetypia stories of Tradiional inhavitants on the rage nd switche his concertrtion on Urna Indian Americas whch in the process moves the setting of the book in his hometown. For amodern reader, the book is contemporary and grity read nd its characters are individuals that are prevalent or an be found anywhere across gthe country or in the bay area.Tommy Orange uses a great cunkj of hstory ntitiated when aseveral settlers ernged and clkaimed he contnent to shw case the marginalzation and bredth of the contemporary American Indian experience sine it centres on the intercnencted lives of individuals determined to reclaim their land. The itle of the book is closely related to Gerrude Stein;s observation bou Oakland. He commences with scorching foreword invoving fact-based record not known to many.He focuss on giving a reality check on the history of United DStates by shating ahe actual happenings of behadings and massacres, appropriation and cultural annihaltion as evidence of the techniques used in marginalizing the native American indiains.sThe author confronts the sanitized story that identifies Indians as he anonynymous individuals murdered by John Wayne. In enforcing the marginalization of the Indians, he uses realistic characters through less known .The accounts mentioned in the story offer a context of subsequent narratives and offers a voice to the individuals hailing from the First nations. In essence, each life mentioned in the prologue offers varying opinion n what it implies to be an American Indian in the 21st century.
  • 2. Orange uses several characters to sowcae how American Indians have been marginalized over time.Te athor argues that getting individulsl to lve in the victy was the finl phase of the absorption, assimilation, erasure and the culminantion of the 500 year genocidal campaign. However, he argues tht te city revlutionzied heir stand and in the process, they made the city their omeland.Although there are many buildings and anonymous masses, the Indian culkture never got lost, they searched and found each othr as evidenced by indan centres, However, although they didn’t move to cities to die, the representative nature of the American dream vries among the mnotiy as opposed to the majority. There is a lot to absorb in the narrative based on the narration and stories of various characters. Some of them are connected by fate, other by circumstances and blood s they make preparations for their next events in Oakland Coliseum, He tends to move and transverse between timelines and uses various narration personas. He tends to shift from the first-to- second and finally the third person narrative their experiences in a rush of fervor and intensity. For instance, in the narrative, two sisters in the company of their mother in 969 relocated to Alcatraz Island. Unfortunately, this period was characterized by the Indian occupation facets between years 1969 and 1971. In the process, they experienced devastating events that shadows their lives. However, due to marginalization effect, such narratives are often ignored in many American history stories which is evidence of the marginalization effect the traditional Indians experienced.AS such, it is challenging for a an urban American Indian to comprehend how historically, they have been marginalized when such issues are erased from history books. Oranges main bjective when writing the story is to showcaer a multi-vicd and multigenratonal narrative about Native
  • 3. individuals in Okaland. It is rae to finfd an urban Native figure shown in fiction. Most authors prefer writing about fuctional natives s people full of Wise cracks and on reservavton, tragic stories, wisdom and istorical stories.Howqever, Orange contradicts all these by presenting character with tragic stories in bundance. Some of tem are expirieicning a lack of choce, parental neglectfetal aclool syndrome, domestic and sexual volence.Yet, there is more meaning t such events relative to ragecy alone.Orange shows that there is an extended intimate and deep realism speaking to individuals that fund themselves marginalized. Some of them go to wrong schools, live in bad areas f he town and have been provided access to none plenty of the American life except yearning for it. Lthough there has been a lot of researvation literature on Marginalization of Ntive Americans, Organge’s piece is an epic that showcs the complexity of his ubringing and ambivalience. He fcussed on letting his charcaers struggle in the way he was brough and the manner other Ntiver Americans struggle with autheticitya nd identify. For instance, sisters Red Feather ad Opal Viola arr a grea example n the bookwhose life relates closely to the autor.Teir dulthood is gfreately influenced by their childhood upringing as members of the Indian tribe that experienced genocide during the Indian OIccupation period in 1960s.Orvil also attempts to learn danig lessons from Youtube;. Although he prdes in his dancing ability, he struggles t comprehend why adults living around him always forbid him because it is risky. In other words, Orange shows that in American society, Native Indians are so marginalized that they are not allowed to do anything Indian. The novel is wrrte in short epics with various perspecytves revolving a round the twelve charcters identified at crucial moments of their lves. Surpsiring, all these are leading to a primary Indn even in Oakland where a tragic voence

However, The autor attempts to traverse being he snarratves prevakent abut Native Americans. AS opposed to referencing any native isues specficially, The novel title appears ias a reference to amuci song in ne segemen a. It also apprears in aother as Gerrude Stein’s Quote about Oakland. Organge also uses the intergration of urbn culture and 21s century technology to show the effect of Marginalizaton tto the American Indians. Altough he carcaters ues have limitations, they are human due to their masks.Their characrers voice re xemplarily everlaed but the most strkng issues is he digitalization and urbanization element in the book.Alkthough the native d4rumming and powpow culture are crucial, cellphones, social media, drones, Youtube and a dedly-3-D printer is present.Bsed on the historic realism of the native Americans, the theme of margnalization and symabolism is evident in both segments. It s psisble to comprehend the concept of urbanity and the role marginalization as played in te character and behavior f Urbanized American Indians. He explains urbaniry oin an illuminative and advocacy amanner against colonialism, rcism and all those individuals focusing on defning Indians. For instance, although traditional Indians were judged as people of low intelligenge, they had a deeper opinion of what individuals mean when they say one thing but imply another. In the novel, Orange Ues L0neman to showcase how many Americans uses negative perception to marginalize Indians. The Urban American Indian history is wrapped in their heritage. For instance, A boy finds a regalia making him believe that the only thing he can d is to dance at the Powwow. Anther gang attempts a robbery with fake guns and an overweight young man
  • 5. attempt to engage with the world using her computer. All these depictions of urbanized American Indians in the 21st century shows hat, many Indians whenever they attempt to embrace their culture; they see a copy, a fake. However, despite all this, they are required to act, behave, dance and dress like an Indian even if they feel weird. In other words, the only way they can become Indian is to act and look like an Indian. In other words, being an Indian or not relies in such issues. Much Native American experience embraces a reservation perspective. However, through the characters actions, Orange clearly shows that he emanates from a different generation and is not afraid to sow the conscious of marginalization prevalent in the American culture. The character involved in Orange’s novel is different. However, they all possess a sense interaction to the intersection of their personal identities and their cultural identities and Native American Indians. Blue, Red Feather and Edwin black are in the novel showcased worrying about their native capacity. They believe that they are unfit to be native or are native but in wrong manners. They are attempting to reconcile what it implies to be Native American. AS they attempt to visualize their Native capacity within the community, Orange believes hat identifying oneself in an extensive cultural identity can help them comprehend their real self on a personal level. As such, Orange uses the confusion of the Character to showcase the marginal nature that the alienation and assimilation of the Native Americans has caused to many people. There are many Native Americans still struggling with personal identity versus Cultural identity due to marginalization. Tommy Orange provides a gruesome and unflinching depictions of violence, cruelty and attempted genocides which have marginalized, depleted and ravaged the indigenous populations in Central, South and Central America since the beginning of the year
  • 6. 1400s.The legacy of such generation tragedy to address daily, the tutor recommended a contemporary Native community is now turning o suicide and substance abuse o cope with the increasing pin of isolation, fear, trauma and pain. The way generational pain affects the Characters in the novel, organ showcases he pain marginalization is causing to the American Indian communities and how they have been forced to experience since the ancient period. The author argues that until there is an extensive reckoning a of extermination, history of colonization and assimilation the American Indians were forced o experience, many native communities will be entangled in a viscous cycle of trauma, suffering and pain. Ewin black who was raised by a White mother has been trying o understand who he is. Although h s totally ignorant of his native father, he has failed to establish a viable personal identity that permits him to prosper. After experiencing positive beginning to n academic career, his childhood upbringing has affected hs growth. He spends a reasonable amount of time on digital platforms avoiding the outside and lived in his mothers home. After reaching out to his Father via facebook, he discovers his father’s tribe, he becomes less interested. He is worried about what a real connection will affect him. The constipation Edwin experiences shows how much he has been suffocated by his roots and the America structure. Yet, as the novel progresses, all he characters including Edwin finds themselves at he PowPow. AS soon as Edwin discovers his cultural identify, he unleashes his strength and commences pursing his dream. He succeeds because of his connection to his extensive Native Community.AS such, Edwin’s experience shows that although the Native Americans were moved to the city as a way of assimilation, absorption , they remained marginalized which forced them to find each other and start various Indian centers
