UrbAn vocab
• Cash Wrap: a fancy term for the cash
register area.
• Floor Sup: Short for floor supervisor. The
floor sup is the manager in charge on the
floor. They are there to help you and the
customers, and to be the eyes and ears on
the floor.
• Break Schedule: Kept in the drawer at the
cash wrap. It is the schedule outlining
where you are zoned, who the floor sup is,
when your break is, and keeps track of
money made during the day.
• Zoned: the area of the floor that you are
assigned to for that hour.
• Go-backs or Runs: Merchandise that needs
to “go-back” to the floor to it’s proper
home. Some will be at cash and others in
the little room in our fitting room.
• MPOS: “Mobile Point of Sale.” The mobile
device is used to order online products
for customers, check inventory, check
prices, make price tags, etc!
• Backstock or Receiving: The back room
where surplus sizes of merchandise is
kept. Merch is organized by dept. The
receiver helps to backstock merch and
package P&S back here.
• Standards: The visual standards for
the store. This refers to how the store
is merchandised, as well as how clean
and shop-able the store is at any
given time.
• Pack and Ship: The process of picking,
packing, and shipping product that
customers have ordered online or
through another store.
• MOD: “Manager on Duty.” In the
instance where a Team Lead is the
floor sup, a manager will be the MOD
and help with floor coverage,
employee check-outs, and helping
customers.
• Employee Checkout or “Getting
Checked Out:” the process of getting
checked out refers to showing the
inside of handbags, backpacks,
pockets, and coats by a manager
before leaving the store for break or
at the end of a shift. You cannot put
your coat on until a manger checks
you out.
• SLANT: The UO newsletter posted every
Monday. Gives info on company
business, upcoming sales, promotions,
brand themes, and any UO happenings.
Where do I park?
-There are 2 parking lots where employees can park.
1) The parking lot directly behind the store where
they are building the new Aldo’s. 2) The parking lot
behind the store up on the hill where the dumpster
is located.
What are our store hours?
-Monday through Saturday: 10 am-8 pm
-Sundays: 11 am-7 pm
When is the schedule posted?
-The schedule is posted a week in advance (usually
by Tues or Wed) for the upcoming week. It can be
found on our store’s Tumblr page or in Kronos.
How do I request off?
-Please send schedule requests to:
schedule155@gmail.com and submit it into Kronos.
-The request needs to be sent in as far in advance as
possible but no later that the Sunday or Monday
before the following week.
When do we get paid?
-We get paid twice a month. Depending on your bank,
it is every other Wednesday or Thursday.
What is an on-call shift?
-An on-call shift is a shift that is in parenthesis on
the associate schedule. For instance: (3-cl).
-For this shift you must call 3 hours before the shift
starts and a manager will let you know if we will use
your on-call shift that day or not. This allows us to
bring in a backup person if we need extra help that day!
*Always put your stuff in your
locker and then clock in. When you
are leaving, clock out and then
retrieve your items.*
*No phones in pockets. All valuables
in your locker. If found with a
phone on your person, then a write
up will be issued.*
*If switching shifts with a fellow
worker, both people must call a
manager at the store and confirm
with that same manager that you
are switching shifts.*
*No call, no shows for shifts results
in a write up.*
*Employees must be checked out
when leaving for a break, when
leaving after a shift, or leaving
after coming into the store and
shopping.*
Loss Prevention Information to Remember:
• Sweet-hearting: giving friends and family unauthorized discounts that they
are not supposed to receive. It can happen anywhere: like the cash wrap or
fitting rooms. EXAMPLE: giving extra discounts on a transaction, excessive
returns from friends or family members, or putting merchandise on hold for
friends or family members.
• Neither Employees nor Eligible Users are allowed to put items on hold.
• 1-800-NOW-PREV is a confidential hotline that any employee can call to
report suspicious activities. Every report is anonymous.
• XBR is an “Exception Based Reporting” system that tracks every employee’s
activity on the POS. It is used to collect data.
• Shrink: merchandise lost in our store. It can be lost due internal theft
(employees) external theft (customers), and paperwork errors.
• Employees must be checked out by a manager when they leave for a 10, when
they leave for break, when they leave at the end of their shift, or when they
leave after coming in and shopping. Backpacks, handbags, coats, pockets,
and bags must be checked!
• Eligible Users must follow all company guidelines and
policies when shopping at UO with their eligible user card.
Don’t hesitate to ask questions!
Let’s have a great summer season

