=) The ability to influence a group towards the achievement of goals.
The person who guide or influence the behaviour of others is called ' leader ' and people who guided or
influence are called the ' followers '

- Inspiring
- Intelligent

- Self Control
- Pleasing Personality
- Co-operation
- Sympathy and Understanding
- Mastery of triats
Leadership Style
The term leadership style refers to the way in which a leader influence his followers
It is classified into 3
. Autocratic or Authoritative Style
. Democratic or Participative Style
. Laissez Faire or Free Rein Style
. Autocratic or Authoritative Style
The leader makes almost a unilateral decision on how to proceed Autocratic leader has all
the power has all the power to make decision.
Leaders can be.
- Arrogant
- Hostile
- Boastful
- Egotistical
Democratic or Participative Style
The leader take decision after consulting with his subordinates. It is co-operative approach to a
problem
Leaders tend to be.
- Warm
- Confident
- Friendly
- Commited
Laissez Faire Style
In this style the whole responsibility of decision making is left to the sub ordinate. The leader
has actually no leadership role.
. Laissez Faire Style is a suitable in sistuation
. Leader is able to fully delegate the power of decision making in his subordinates
Subordinates are
. Competent
. Well knowledge
. Organised goal and knowledge are well explained to the subordinates
Theories of leadership
There are 4 theories of Leadership
1) Trait theory
2) Behavioural theory
3) Sistuational Leadership theory
4) Fielders contingency model
1) Trait theory.
Kelly founded this theory. According to Trait theory leader become successful by his own
character.
According to this Trait theory the following Trait are required for successful leader
- Intelligence
- Attitude
- Personality
- Physical factors ( height, weight, health, appearance)
- Self confidence
- Supervisory ability
- Achivement
- Motivation
- Self assurance
... .. etc
2) Behavioural Theory
It is based on behavioural activity of the leader ' wheather leader do rather than
what they are ' is the policy of this theory
This kind of leadership has 2 ways.
- Functional behaviour
[ Positively convinced the follower]
- Dysfunctional behaviour
[ Follower can not be convinced ]
3) Sistuational Leadership theory
Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard founded this theory. According to this theory the most
effective leaders are able to adopt their style to the sistuation at hand.
This theory is suggest that no single leadership is the best
4) Fielder contingency model
This theory states that the best leadership depends on nature of the group nature of
the task and power of the leader
This theory is developed by Fred. E . Fiddler
- The leader fully trust it's followers and the followers will adopt a loyal and co-operative attitude
- They are in favour of the company.
- leadership style depends of the nature.
- Knowledge of the leader
CONCLUSION
However, we can conclude that leadership is the ability to direct a group of people in realising a
common goal. This is done by people applying their leadership attributes. Leaders create commitment
and enthusiasm amongst followers to achieve goals. Leadership is achieved through interaction
between leader, follower and environment.
