Pump Monitoring Systems powered by remote IoT Monitoring solutions help track pump performance parameters in terms of temperature, vibrations, voltage fluctuations and more. It helps to make predictive decisions for improved maintenance.
2. Interesting facts
• A Pump Manufacturer claims “only 1 out of 100 pumps
they manufacture lasts 6 months without warranty claims.”
This despite maintaining the highest level of product
quality, reliability, and testing of all pump assemblies prior
to shipment.
• Currently manufacturing and material supply businesses
are paying about 3%-7% of their total revenue to fund
warranty claims that arise out of abuse or misuse of the
product.
3. Problem Statement
Most Pump manufacturers have no validated system to detect
and prove misuse by the user. Due to lack of Authentication
technologies to prevent warranty Fraud manufacturers face:
• Loss of Brand Value: Stronger the brand’s reputation and/or
quality guarantees the higher the risk.
• Product Recall/ Removal/ Dumping: Leading to revenue loss.
• Replacement Material: Replace damaged components.
• Time consumption: Manual auditing of warranty claim leads to
poor service experience for genuine warranty claimants.
4. Common Claims due
to mishandling:
• Motor Burning due to Voltage
Fluctuations
• Casting Erosion
• Pulley Misalignment and Slippage of Belt
• Pressure Spikes
• Run Dry Seal Failure
5. Technology Solution
• Pump is fitted with specific sensors. Data collected from
these sensors will reflect how the pump is being used.
• Required sensors can be mounted on hardware. Data is
recorded and analyzed remotely or by a program to identify
faults. Primary receiver nodes (PRNs) can communicate with
multiple sensor nodes simultaneously to collect real-time
data. In turn, the PRNs connect directly to a database server
computer.
• All data collected by sensors once received by the network
Coordinator is transferred to the gateway from where
through GPRS/Ethernet/Internet it is then brought to Real
Time Information System or RIMS.
• RIMS comprises of the server part and the User Interface
section.
With the help of this IIoT Platform, Manufacturers can
quickly identify the cause of damage and whether it falls
under their warranty policies.
7. Benefits of IIoT based
authentication process
• Simple: Easy to integrate
• Cost Effective: Cost per
application is minimal
• Fast: Takes comparatively less
time to validate than manual
system of examination.
• Conclusive: It can authenticate
each and every claim.
