Senate Public Relations Committee Bill (Final Draft)_
The Oath of Office Bill (Version2)
1. Version 2
The Oath of Office Bill
Whereas:
The PUC Student Government does not have the respective formality of taking the oath
of office by the President and Executive Vice President, which are done by our respective
sister schools. The Oath of Office is a code of ethics that should be held in the utmost
regard to the fact that the PUC Student Government is an entity elected by the student
body and should be subject to and uphold the standards, morals, ethics, principles, and
values that govern the institution.
Therefore, let it be proposed that:
A new section be added under Article IV of the PUC Constitution & Bylaws and say:
Article IV, Section 7, The Oath of Office
The SA President and SA Executive Vice President, before he or she enters upon the
office in which they have been elected into, shall take the following oath, which shall be
administered by the President of Pacific Union College during the last SA Colloquy of
the school year.
President’s Oath:
“I, (Name) do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of
President of the Student Association of Pacific Union College, and will do to the
best of my ability preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the Pacific
Union College Student Association.”
Executive Vice President’s Oath
“I, (Name) do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the
Constitution of Pacific Union College Student Association and take this
obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that
I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter.”
