Computing is a highly technological course that has taught me the required skills to become
an adaptable computer specialist with strong business awareness. During my time as a
computing student I developed the following proficiencies:
Experience in multiple programming languages such as C# and Java.
A detailed aptitude for web development, implementing HTML and CSS. Also,
limited academic experience using JavaScript and JQuery.
The ability to independently research/critically analyse assigned topics and
communicate findings through the medium of a professional report or essay.

Previous Work Experience
2015 – 2016 (June - February)
.NET Developer, SES Construction Software Ltd
After graduating university, I found a local job as a junior .NET developer in Ivybridge. This
position taught me many new skills, as well as helping to hone upon existing proficiencies
learnt at university. One of the most important new skills learnt was that of the MVVM
design pattern, coupled with WPF. The position also helped to further my knowledge of SQL
database development and taught me the importance of using version control as a software
developer.
2012 - 2014 (between the months ofNov - Dec)
Royal Mail Christmas Casual
During my time as a university student I decided to pursue a job working for the Royal Mail,
helping to sort parcels and letters during the busy Christmas period. After the initial year I
was invited back to retain this position during the subsequent Christmas months. This helped
me to further my abilities in working quickly and efficiently whilst under pressure. The job
also helped to instil a sense of responsibility when dealing with people’s mail.
2014 (Mar - Jun)
The Imperial, Public House, Ivybridge
During the summer months of 2014 I decided to pursue a job working in a local public house.
Tasks included accurately taking customers orders and consequently serving them their
food/drinks. This job, I believe, helped to develop my skills regarding customer relations,
ensuring that the client is always content, and to rectify the situation in a calm and collected
manner if they are not.
2013 (May-Sept)
Labourer
Whilst waiting for the next year of my degree to begin I undertook a job working as a
labourer on a property in Cornwall. Proficiencies learned during this job include the ability to
complete physical assignments in a safe manner,in compliance with current health and safety
regulations.

Groundskeeper
In the months between leaving Ivybridge Community College and beginning my university
course I was employed at Torr Home, a care home in Plymouth, undertaking maintenance
work in the grounds. This taught me many valuable skills regarding a working environment
including being part of a team. I also learned essential communication skills during jobs
where I was working alone. An example of this would be in having to constantly keep in
contact with other employees to make sure that tasks were not overlapping, thus ensuring
greater efficiency.
Interests and Achievements
From an early age I have nurtured a love of technology and thus have a wide range of
knowledge of computers and software. This is reflected in my choice to study computing at
Plymouth University.
Whilst at Ivybridge Community College, I also attended Ivybridge youth centre, which I
believe was very beneficial in developing social skills that can be reflected in the workplace,
such as when dealing with a customer or working as a member of a team. I have also
previously set up activities within the youth centre, which I believe has also increased skills
such as responsibility as well as furthering my ability to plan ahead and deal with any
unexpected problems that arise.
