SYMMETRIC PROPERTY
For all real
number p and q,
then q = p.
By symmetric
property, if
∠𝑃𝑄𝑅 ≅ ∠𝑆𝑇𝑈, then
∠𝑆𝑇𝑈 ≅ ∠𝑃𝑄𝑅.
Other example,
If ∠P ≅ ∠Q then ∠Q
≅ ∠P.

TRANSITIVE PROPERTY
For all real
number p, q,
and r, if p = q,
and q = r,
then p = r.
● By transitive
property, if 𝑃𝑄 ≅

then 𝑃𝑄 ≅ 𝑇𝑈
● If ∠P ≅ ∠S, ∠S ≅

Addition Property of Equality (APE)
For all real numbers p, q,
and r, if p = q, then
p + r = q + r.
● If m∠ P = m∠Q,
then m∠P + m∠R = m∠Q + m∠R
8. SLIDESMANIA.COM
Subtraction Property of Equality (SPE)
For all real numbers p, q,
and r, if p = q,
then p − r = q + r.
● If m∠ P = m∠Q,
then m∠P – m∠R = m∠Q – m∠R
9. SLIDESMANIA.COM
Multiplication Property of Equality (MPE)
For all real numbers p, q,
and r, if p = q, then pr = qr
● If p = q, and p = 2 and r = 5
pr = qr
2(5) = 2(5) ⟶ 10 = 10

A. Identify if it is Reflexive, Symmetric, Transitive or Substitution Property illustrated
in each number.
1. If ∠A ≅ ∠B then ∠B ≅ ∠A.
2. m∠HAT ≅ m∠HAT
3. If CT = 14 and PR + CT = 20, then PR + 14 = 20.
4. If TX = BK, then BK = TX.
5. If ∠A ≅ ∠B, ∠B ≅ ∠C, then ∠A ≅ ∠C.
B. Name the property of equality (APE, SPE, MPE or Distributive Property) illustrated
in each number.
1. For all real numbers a, b, c and d, if a = b and c = d, then a + c = b + d
2. 10(m + n) = 10m + 10n
3. If m = n, then mp = np.
4. If m∠A = m∠B, then m∠A + m∠C = m∠B + m∠C
5. If m∠A = m∠B, then m∠A − m∠C = m∠B − m∠C

Angle
An angle is a figure formed by two rays meeting at a
common endpoint.
● Angles are denoted by a number, vertex and the three
capital letters. The angle below can be named as
∠XOY or ∠O or ∠1

Perpendicular Lines
● Formed when two lines intersect with each other
and formed right angles. The perpendicular sign is
⊥, it is used to show that two lines are
perpendicular.
● In the figure, 𝐴𝐶 and 𝐵𝐷 intersect at point F to
form right angles. To denote perpendicularity, we
used “⊥”. Therefore, we say that 𝐴𝐶 ⊥ 𝐵𝐷 . Since
∠𝐴𝐹𝐵 and ∠𝐶𝐹𝐵 formed a linear pair, then they
are supplementary. Since perpendicular lines
formed four right angles, therefore
∠𝐴𝐹𝐵, ∠𝐶𝐹𝐵, ∠𝐶𝐹𝐷 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ∠𝐴𝐹𝐷 measure 90⁰.

Did you know?
Did you know that elephants can sense storms?
Elephants may be able to detect a thunderstorm from hundreds
of miles away, and will head towards it, looking for water.

Did you know?
Did you know that a cat uses its whiskers as
feelers to determine if a space is too small to
squeeze through?
Also, cats love to sleep. A fifteen-year-old cat
has probably spent ten years of its life sleeping.
Did you know that dogs can smell your
feelings?
Dogs can pick up on subtle changes in your
scent, which can help him figure out how you
are feeling, such as by smelling your
perspiration when you become nervous or
fearful.

Did you know?
Pandas don’t hibernate.
It is estimated that more than 50 million kangaroos live there. They are Australia’s
national symbol and appear on postage stamps, coins, and airplanes.
There are more kangaroos than humans in Australia.
Koalas don’t have much energy and, when not feasting on leaves, they spend their
time dozing in the branches. Believe it or not, they can sleep for up to 18 hours a day!
Koalas are even more lazy than cats.
When winter approaches, they head lower down their mountain homes to warmer
temperatures, where they continue to chomp away on bamboo!
