Science Revision For Test!!!
Predator- prey relationships
- Lion= Lot’s of fur, big limbs, big teeth, big claws
- Rabbit= eyes on side, small limbs
- Zebra= White/black stripes, eyes on the side
- Shark= Dark on the top, light on the bottom, eyes
on the front.
- Fox= Orange/red, eyes on the front, small limbs
- Fish= Fins, scales
- Eagle= Long beak, big wings, good eye-site
- Seal= Big fins, whiskers, eyes on the front
Sharks eat fish and foxes eat rabbits and tigers
eat deer’s.
Variation
- Some have leaves
- Some come from different habitats
- Some lay eggs
- Some eat plants
- Different species
- Adapted to their habitats differently
Continuous and Discontinuous
Continuous means when it carry’s on going.
E.g. Like the earth when it rotates it does not stop!
Discontinuous is when it works then it stops.
E.g. Like a car it can stop and then it can start.
My Wingspan: 1.80
My Height: 1.65
Inheritance
Genes= Characteristics inherited from your parents or
further generations.
DNA= Your DNA is unique, like your blood and your
fingerprint.
The sign of DNA is the “Double Helix” (The two wiggly
lines.)
Organisation of DNA
Prokaryotic= Bacteria Cells
Eukaryotic= Animal and Human cells

Chromosomes- the cell’s nucleus contains
Chromosomes made from long DNA molecules.
Nucleus- a dense organelle present in the most
eukaryotic cells, typically a single rounded structure
bounded by a double membrane, containing the
genetic material.
QUESTION: Describe in detail, how chromosomes are
kept within a cell and why this organisation is
important and why DNA cell are wrapped in packaging
protein.
ANSWER: DNA all starts in a cell where the
chromosomes is inside the nucleus from the cell then
comes the chromatid. Each chromosome contains
genes, which are small sections of DNA, which is
code for protein. DNA needs to be wrapped around
histones, as it would not fit inside the cells otherwise
it would me too long.
My characteristics:
- Brown eyes
- Long, wavy, brown hair
- Red/brown skin colour
- Long eyelashes/thick
- Slim
- Long height

Evolution
Put the creatures in order
1) Nautilus, 2) Ammonite, 3) Limpet, 4) Snail, 5) Slug,
6) Worm
Describe how your starting organism has involved
over time. Think about its size, shape, and where it
live- in the sea or on land.
The ammonite lives in water, turns longer with leaves
then the limpet loses legs, and it lives on land now,
the snail developed slimy and only has the shell. The
snail then turns into the slug which only lives on land,
slugs develop a shell later. Gardeners,(my grandma)
uses The Slug Killer to kill the slugs but some may
use salt which is really dangerous for slugs because
they shrivel up then they die.
FRANKLIN AND WILKINSON
CRICK AND WATSON
The 4 founders of the DNA model won the noble,
peace prize award.
C rick and Watson Franklin and Wilkinson
How the teams
contributed to an
understanding of
the structure of
DNA.
- Used data from
Franklin and Wilkins
and other scientists to
build a successful
model of DNA.
- Work in biology
- Learnt x-ray diffraction
- Franklin corrected
errors in an initial
model they built
- Photograph of Franklin
provided evidence that
allowed them to
produce the correct
model of DNA.
- Both are experts at
x-ray diffraction.
- Wilkins can make
threads of DNA.
- Produced high
quality
photographs.
- The structure of
DNA might be a
helix.(Here they had
some clue of how
the structure of the
DNA looked like so
they developed it
further to make it
correct.)
TASK:
Highlight all the key information, then revise from it.
How the individual
teams were held
back from
understanding the
structure of DNA
- Watson and Crick did not do
any real experimental work
on DNA.
- Franklin interpreted her
early data but chose not to
use it to build the model of
the DNA molecule.
