Unix Architecture
Problem Statement 1:
What are the basic features of Unix OS. Due to which feature, more than one user can
simultaneously use the same system.
Problem Statement 2:
What are the different layers in unix OS. What are the functionality of each of these layers?
You want to create a file in unix or want to see the today's date , with which component of the
unix OS you will be interacting.
Unix File System
Problem Statement 1:
What are the different types of files in UNIX? Can we identify the type of a file using the ls
command ? If so explain how.
Problem Statement 2 :
What is inode in unix . Is it possible to change the inode of a file. What are the different
conditions when the inode of a file can be changed.
Problem Statement 3:
What is inode number? Does unix creates a new inode number each time a file gets created?
Where does unix maintains the inode numbers?
Problem Statement 4:
What are the different blocks in unix file system? Are these blocks physical? What information
is stored in each of these blocks?
Problem Statement 5:
You have created a very big file ,size approximately is 56000000 bytes. How , in the file
system unix will store the data. Will the data be stored in continuous blocks in memory?
Unix Command Usages
Problem Statement 1:
You have seen that some other users are accessing your unix account. What will you do?
How will you make your account secure?
Problem Statement 2 :
You want to display a message in the monitor as “ Hello, How are you”. How will you do?
Problem Statement 3 :
Sometime you might be interested to know who is logged in to the computer at the same time.
How can it be done? What are the commands you can use?
Problem Statement 4 :
You have to print the file name of the terminal connected to the standard input.
How will you do?
Problem Statement 5 :
The following statement---
Today is the day I have joined TCS. In my Batch there are 150 associates. We have 3
Lgs. Our mode of learning is virtual.
you have to print in the standard output . In the display, each sentence of the statement
should be printed in a new line. How will you do?
