General Introduction
•14 years as Agricultural Consultant and Agronomist, both working for others and as independent owner/operator.
• 2 years in industrial product manufacture (toxic industrial gas).
• 4 years as Vegetation Management Specialist (weed control, small-pasture, and vegetation management).
• 2 years as Integrated Pest Management Specialist for University of Arizona.
• 3 years as Manager (Assistant Professor, Temporary) of an Entomology research field/laboratory program.
• 1 year in temporary electronics recycling program.
• 6 months in outdoor lawn and garden retail.
•Experience with 4 companies as owner/operator
•A short time attempting to help salvage an excellent small coffee roasting operation.
• 2 years in rescue/repair/maintenance of small sailboats and sails.
•I believe I bring a strong background in technically advising clients and effectively communicating with them.
•I believe my strong education and experiential background in many areas of crop science, biological sciences, soil chemistry,
fertilizers, plant pathology, and similar will be of value to my employer and/or clients.
•I believe I frequently went over and above in providing technical advisement for my clientele.
RESUMÉ: Reverse Chronological by Employer/Position
RainMaking International, LLC, Englewood, CO, March 2015 to October 2015. Title: Consulting Agronomist. In
conjunction with Larry Lipman, CEO, and his marketing team.
•Please note: This was a promising position I pursued on a contingency basis because I had the time and was extremely interested in
RMI International’s technology, its corporate vision, and the vast, untapped potential that exists in rural areas. My work with
RMI unexpectedly and inexplicably came to an abrupt end in October. The company severed ties and communication with
me, and did not offer any compensation.
•I was initially contacted from my Linkedin profile by RMI International CEO, Larry Lipman, to assist with a startup endeavor using
“disruptive technologies” to establish new methods and equipment for developing indoor, 365-day-per-year produce farms.
•We worked to establish a starting point for introduction of vertical green growing equipment, electrical power generation, “Water
from Air” technology, and recycling/vermiculture systems. These can all be stand-alone modules or operated as a complete
system. The entire system has potential for operating “off grid” in remote areas and can conceivably use any existing
structure such as abandoned warehouses and vacant Walmarts, K-Marts, etc.
•We targeted the following: 1) Small, dying communities that need the produce, jobs, and revenue, 2) Native American tribes and
their affiliates, 3) Relief missions and denominational missions groups, 4) Existing farm families and their children and
grandchildren who are looking for means to expand their farming operations in meaningful and economically feasible
fashion, 5) Sustainable, quality produce produced in a very efficient manner with diverse markets, 6) Regions and
communities far-removed from conventional fruit and produce markets, 7) With goals of helping establish regional and local
economic development and economic/sociological sustainability.
•Furthering the concept of “disruptive technology” which means taking current resource-intensive production technology, considered
to be non-sustainable, and turning those technologies into locally-stable, and long-term, economically and environmentally
sound directions.
•I took the part-time, temporary, position below while working toward making my position with RMI at least a part-time, paid,
position. This did not happen, but I invested enough time in pursuing the endeavor that I believe it should be part of my
resume.
Lowe’s #2568, Loveland, CO 80537. Seasonal Temporary, Outside Lawn and Garden Department. March 2015 to October
2015. Title: Customer Service Representative.
•Advised numerous customers regarding their lawns, garden, floral planning, rock walls, and some power equipment. Received
favorable comments from several repeat customers that my advice worked in their urban and rural settings.
•Came to realize how complex and confusing the consumer fertilizer and pesticide market is to “standard” homeowners. It was
confusing to me, and I’ve worked with agricultural and horticultural chemicals much of my career. Within my own mindset, I
developed a one-on-one strategy to better help these customers. Inquired of more knowledgeable customers where they obtained
their knowledge.
•Helped Lowe’s implement their IMPACT method of interacting customers and develop a working relationship with them on their
current and anticipated projects.
•Maintained display merchandise in a pleasing and professional manner.
•Maintained safety and cleanliness in assigned locations within store. Outdoor cleaniliness was a constant effort, and I believe we did
an excellent job of maintaining a visually-pleasing presentation.
•Demonstrated personal patience with archaic plant watering techniques and questions about purchase practices vs. salability of
several plant species. Witnessed substantial, what I believe avoidable, economic losses in our department.
•I’m not claiming a major career move here, I took this position while waiting for a promising possibility to develop.
Blue Yonder Boating, Longmont, CO. October 2013 to Present. Title: Owner & Lead Technician,
http://blueyonderboating.com
•Nine years of self study about sailboat and conventional sail maintenance and repair beginning in 2006.
•Became sailboat owner in 2010, and now own two sailboats, an 18-ft Spacesailer (currently for sale) and a 25-ft MacGregor 25.
•Renovated a partially sunken MacGregor 25 from Tennessee. Results detailed on website.
•Studied sail making and sail modification/repair. Repaired several sails, modified sails to re-purpose them for storm conditions, and
designed and built from scratch a new storm jib.
•Performed one long-distance boat move involving towing a Catalina 25 on dubious trailer from Frisco, CO to Carter Lake, CO over
Loveland Pass. Successfully completed the tow and delivery. Rebuilt 3 of 4 wheel bearings and modified trailer.
•Sailed the following venues and gained considerable captain’s experience under all types of weather conditions ranging from gale-
force winds to unworkable ambient temperatures (105-112F). Tuttle Creek Lake near Manhattan, KS, Lake Havasu on CA/AZ
border, Carter Lake near Berthoud, CO, Wilson Lake, KS, and Horsetooth Reservoir, near Ft. Collins, CO.
•Hosted an estimated 50 different people on my MacGregor 25. Exhibited excellent captain’s skills. Received favorable comments
from numerous guests, including one who had grown up sailing and ranked me above her father in Captain skills.
•Member, Blue Valley Yacht Club, Manhattan, KS from 2011-2014 and the Carter Lake Sailing Club, Loveland, CO, in 2013.
Assisted club with required club member responsibilities.
•In 2014, on a volunteer basis, supported the Carter Lake Sailing Club Junior Sailing Program by re-constructing and refinishing 5
Sunfish rudders that received new hardware to upgrade their attachments to boats. (See website.) Listed as Junior Sailing
Program sponsor as a result.
GLD Consulting, Longmont, CO. Owner & self-employed agricultural consultant, Lakin/Ulysses, KS area. October, 2009 to
September 2013. Title: Agronomist.
•Served 12 to 18 clients annually representing about 8,000 to 12,000 acres of alfalfa, corn, wheat. The gross monetary value of this
volume of crops is estimated at $4.1 million to $9.9 million, reflecting wide swings in yields under drought conditions and wide
swings in commodity prices due to drough-caused regional feed shortages.
•Provided irrigation strategies to help deal with water restrictions under extreme drought conditions.
•Monitored insects, weeds, diseases and provided timely management recommendations.
•Studied soils. Most notably recognized some unique micronutrient needs, chronically low potassium, unusual situations in which
tissue tests for calcium, copper, manganese did not correlate with soil tests. Worked with using humic acids in addition to iron
sulfates and iron chelates to reduce substantial areas of marginal to moderate iron chlorosis.
•Worked with foliar fertilization. Successfully determined that under certain scenarios foliar feed was useful and economical.
•Timed fungicides and growth regulators for wheat, corn, and alfalfa properly (Ethephon II, Folicur, Headline, others)
•Advocated trying reduced-irrigation crops such as safflower.
•Our needs connected with current yields and prices out-stripped book knowledge and past practical knowledge. Decision thresholds
for treating insects and diseases decreased substantially and thresholds and expenditures for fertilizers, fungicides, growth
regulators increased substantially. Growth regulators, alfalfa fungicides, foliar feeding became economically feasible.
•Observed that GMO corn had great value but that it seemed to be changing biological characteristics of some insects, weeds, and
diseases. Growing trend to work away from GMO corn if older, non-GMO hybrids available.
•Advocated against repeated use of stacked corn genetics. Advocated return to residue management to reduce impact of Goss’s Wilt.
•Major effort devoted to dealing with some serious weed resistance issues--glyphosate, 2,4,D, dicamba, Pursuit, others.
•Due to developing herbicide-resistnace issues, changed cropping and rotation patterns, recommended rotating herbicides.
•Worked on making herbicide-resistant wheat viable. Great idea, limited genetics and probably limited useful life of any particular
herbicide..
•Observed nutrient stratification and compaction in reduced-tillage fields. Advocated controlled traffic patterns and re-instituted deep
ripping in cases.
•Observed increasing problems with portions of the aquifer adjacent to the Arkansas River. Water quality declined to the point where
sulfates, nitrates, and carbonates were detrimental. Probably accentuated by protracted drought and reduced river basin flow.
•Invested considerable time and effort in conveying my technical knowledge to clients and explaining the meaning of the
technicalities.
•Determined that the once common practices of insectigation and herbigation were not feasible under extreme drought conditions.
With extreme drought and area-wide mandated watering restrictions, we could not waste the water or the time to treat insects and
weed.

In conjunction with Larry Lipman, CEO, and his marketing team. •Please note: This was a promising position I pursued on a contingency basis because I had the time and was extremely interested in RMI International’s technology, its corporate vision, and the vast, untapped potential that exists in rural areas. My work with RMI unexpectedly and inexplicably came to an abrupt end in October. The company severed ties and communication with me, and did not offer any compensation. •I was initially contacted from my Linkedin profile by RMI International CEO, Larry Lipman, to assist with a startup endeavor using “disruptive technologies” to establish new methods and equipment for developing indoor, 365-day-per-year produce farms. •We worked to establish a starting point for introduction of vertical green growing equipment, electrical power generation, “Water from Air” technology, and recycling/vermiculture systems. These can all be stand-alone modules or operated as a complete system. The entire system has potential for operating “off grid” in remote areas and can conceivably use any existing structure such as abandoned warehouses and vacant Walmarts, K-Marts, etc. •We targeted the following: 1) Small, dying communities that need the produce, jobs, and revenue, 2) Native American tribes and their affiliates, 3) Relief missions and denominational missions groups, 4) Existing farm families and their children and grandchildren who are looking for means to expand their farming operations in meaningful and economically feasible fashion, 5) Sustainable, quality produce produced in a very efficient manner with diverse markets, 6) Regions and communities far-removed from conventional fruit and produce markets, 7) With goals of helping establish regional and local economic development and economic/sociological sustainability. •Furthering the concept of “disruptive technology” which means taking current resource-intensive production technology, considered to be non-sustainable, and turning those technologies into locally-stable, and long-term, economically and environmentally sound directions. •I took the part-time, temporary, position below while working toward making my position with RMI at least a part-time, paid, position. This did not happen, but I invested enough time in pursuing the endeavor that I believe it should be part of my resume. Lowe’s #2568, Loveland, CO 80537. Seasonal Temporary, Outside Lawn and Garden Department. March 2015 to October 2015. Title: Customer Service Representative. •Advised numerous customers regarding their lawns, garden, floral planning, rock walls, and some power equipment. Received favorable comments from several repeat customers that my advice worked in their urban and rural settings.
  • 2. Page 2 of 6 •Came to realize how complex and confusing the consumer fertilizer and pesticide market is to “standard” homeowners. It was confusing to me, and I’ve worked with agricultural and horticultural chemicals much of my career. Within my own mindset, I developed a one-on-one strategy to better help these customers. Inquired of more knowledgeable customers where they obtained their knowledge. •Helped Lowe’s implement their IMPACT method of interacting customers and develop a working relationship with them on their current and anticipated projects. •Maintained display merchandise in a pleasing and professional manner. •Maintained safety and cleanliness in assigned locations within store. Outdoor cleaniliness was a constant effort, and I believe we did an excellent job of maintaining a visually-pleasing presentation. •Demonstrated personal patience with archaic plant watering techniques and questions about purchase practices vs. salability of several plant species. Witnessed substantial, what I believe avoidable, economic losses in our department. •I’m not claiming a major career move here, I took this position while waiting for a promising possibility to develop. Blue Yonder Boating, Longmont, CO. October 2013 to Present. Title: Owner & Lead Technician, http://blueyonderboating.com •Nine years of self study about sailboat and conventional sail maintenance and repair beginning in 2006. Repaired several sails, modified sails to re-purpose them for storm conditions, and designed and built from scratch a new storm jib. •Performed one long-distance boat move involving towing a Catalina 25 on dubious trailer from Frisco, CO to Carter Lake, CO over Loveland Pass. Successfully completed the tow and delivery. Rebuilt 3 of 4 wheel bearings and modified trailer. •Sailed the following venues and gained considerable captain’s experience under all types of weather conditions ranging from gale- force winds to unworkable ambient temperatures (105-112F). Tuttle Creek Lake near Manhattan, KS, Lake Havasu on CA/AZ border, Carter Lake near Berthoud, CO, Wilson Lake, KS, and Horsetooth Reservoir, near Ft. Collins, CO. •Hosted an estimated 50 different people on my MacGregor 25. Exhibited excellent captain’s skills. Received favorable comments from numerous guests, including one who had grown up sailing and ranked me above her father in Captain skills. •Member, Blue Valley Yacht Club, Manhattan, KS from 2011-2014 and the Carter Lake Sailing Club, Loveland, CO, in 2013. Assisted club with required club member responsibilities. •In 2014, on a volunteer basis, supported the Carter Lake Sailing Club Junior Sailing Program by re-constructing and refinishing 5 Sunfish rudders that received new hardware to upgrade their attachments to boats. (See website.) Listed as Junior Sailing Program sponsor as a result. GLD Consulting, Longmont, CO. Owner & self-employed agricultural consultant, Lakin/Ulysses, KS area. October, 2009 to September 2013. Title: Agronomist. •Served 12 to 18 clients annually representing about 8,000 to 12,000 acres of alfalfa, corn, wheat. The gross monetary value of this volume of crops is estimated at $4.1 million to $9.9 million, reflecting wide swings in yields under drought conditions and wide swings in commodity prices due to drough-caused regional feed shortages. •Provided irrigation strategies to help deal with water restrictions under extreme drought conditions. •Monitored insects, weeds, diseases and provided timely management recommendations. •Studied soils. Most notably recognized some unique micronutrient needs, chronically low potassium, unusual situations in which tissue tests for calcium, copper, manganese did not correlate with soil tests. Worked with using humic acids in addition to iron sulfates and iron chelates to reduce substantial areas of marginal to moderate iron chlorosis. •Worked with foliar fertilization. Successfully determined that under certain scenarios foliar feed was useful and economical. •Timed fungicides and growth regulators for wheat, corn, and alfalfa properly (Ethephon II, Folicur, Headline, others) •Advocated trying reduced-irrigation crops such as safflower. •Our needs connected with current yields and prices out-stripped book knowledge and past practical knowledge. Decision thresholds for treating insects and diseases decreased substantially and thresholds and expenditures for fertilizers, fungicides, growth regulators increased substantially. Growth regulators, alfalfa fungicides, foliar feeding became economically feasible. •Observed that GMO corn had great value but that it seemed to be changing biological characteristics of some insects, weeds, and diseases. Growing trend to work away from GMO corn if older, non-GMO hybrids available. •Advocated against repeated use of stacked corn genetics. Advocated return to residue management to reduce impact of Goss’s Wilt. •Major effort devoted to dealing with some serious weed resistance issues--glyphosate, 2,4,D, dicamba, Pursuit, others. •Due to developing herbicide-resistnace issues, changed cropping and rotation patterns, recommended rotating herbicides. •Worked on making herbicide-resistant wheat viable. Great idea, limited genetics and probably limited useful life of any particular herbicide.. •Observed nutrient stratification and compaction in reduced-tillage fields. Advocated controlled traffic patterns and re-instituted deep ripping in cases. •Observed increasing problems with portions of the aquifer adjacent to the Arkansas River. Water quality declined to the point where sulfates, nitrates, and carbonates were detrimental. Probably accentuated by protracted drought and reduced river basin flow.
  • 3. Page 3 of 6 •Invested considerable time and effort in conveying my technical knowledge to clients and explaining the meaning of the technicalities. •Determined that the once common practices of insectigation and herbigation were not feasible under extreme drought conditions. With extreme drought and area-wide mandated watering restrictions, we could not waste the water or the time to treat insects and weed.
