Profile
A flexible, hardworking, passionate, reliable, resourceful and well motivated Safety Specialist (Operations
Support), who holds a National Examination Board of Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH) Diploma in
Occupational Health and Safety, City & Guilds in General Construction, Certificate in Education with National
Certificate Credits in Civil Engineering who believes in proactivity, working concurrently, seizing an opportunity
and can demonstrate a ‘Can Do’ willing attitude to a challenge.
Experienced in various sectors, ranging from civil and military engineering, construction, fast moving consumer
goods to telecommunications and able to deliver training from general awareness, i.e. Toolbox Talks, Safety
Briefs, etc… to more technical aspects, such as, Control of Major Hazards Safety Reports, Risk Assessment and
Process Safety methodology.

Present Post –Currently, a Safety Specialist working in support of high hazard operations research,
development, manufacturing and production facilities across two nuclear licensed Ministry of Defence sites,
reporting to the High Hazard Technology Centre Principal Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) Manager.
v Provide technical ESH and operational support service, to the high hazard operations facility,
engineering, manufacturing and production teams
v Deputise for the High Hazard Technology Centre Principal Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH)
Manager at high hazard operations research and development Task Reviews and a recent Rapid
Improvement Event
v Carry out Safe System of Work (SSoW) reviews, workplace and site based audits and inspections

Previous Employment Experience
August 2007 – September 2012 AWE Plc Equipment Manager & Works Supervisory Officer
 Responsibilities involved the day-to-day operational management and supervision of specialist
research, development, manufacturing and production facilities, dealing with third party service
providers that included reviewing their Safe System of Work submissions, arranging and seeking
security, estates department and facility management approvals that included, when required, full
supervision of persons who were not fully security cleared for the work being undertaken
 Equipment and facility refurbishment, including Business Case submission for capital expenditure
funding, concept design, implementing change management, overseeing installation and ensuring
that aftersales calibration and maintenance activities have been completed, before final close out of
the change or modification of plant and equipment that is either bespoke or Commercially Off The
Shelf products and services; to the region of over £600K
 Acted as the ‘Focal Point, on behalf of the Facility Operations Manager, who was deemed the ‘Client,’
in relation to Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) 2007, within a High Hazard
processing facilities, during refurbishment and new build activities; working to very tight deadlines
 Coordinate and de-conflict any breakdown and planned, preventative maintenance activities,
including calibration activities, whilst coordinating a high hazard research and development facility
 Lean Six Sigma aware and proactive in maintaining good working practices, building relationships and
networks. Experience in corporate and facility configuration management, engineering strategies,
following company policies and procedures; within a highly regulated environment
Achievements
Awarded a ‘Bronze’ award by the company for delivering a project on time and within a strict dead-line in
2011. Established a robust stance to the delivery of a newly refurbished high hazard facility and a new build
within a six month delivery time frame in 2008/2009.
November 2003 – August 2007 Vosper Thorneycroft Defence BOWMAN Radio Systems Instructor
 Employed by Vosper Thorneycroft Defence as a BOWMAN Radio Systems Instructor reporting to the
BOWMAN radio systems Training Manager
 The role involved me delivering software and hardware training, in a modern interactive electronic
environment, to a maximum of twenty delegates, from training sites situated all over the UK
 Kept abreast of emerging military and civilian voice and data communications technologies
Achievements
Obtained my Certificate in Education, whilst delivering training across England, through a distance learning
course administered by Salisbury College and graduated through the University of Greenwich in 2006.
June 1991 – November 2003: H.M Forces – British Army Corps of the Royal Engineers
 Joined the British Army, went through Basic, Trade (Civil Engineering Technician), Construction and
Telecommunications (Combat) Engineer training
 Deployed and delivered logistical support to the main battle forces in to various locations in the UK
and Overseas, including driving tracked and Large Goods Vehicles (LGV), with some civilian agency
driver experience (LGV only); delivering Fast Moving Consumer Goods, during my annual leave
 Worked in very harsh environments, both in the UK and abroad, working to tight schedules and under
vast amounts of pressure, at times
