• Analyzing Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications relating to networked computer
systems, GPS, Video distribution, device motion and orientation, malware detection
and removal, computer data marketplaces and other inventions involving networks.
• Researching potential novelty of inventions using commercial and government patent
databases of prior art, patent publications and technical disclosure documents.
• Writing official opinions on the patentability of internationally filed applications for
utility patents which include an analysis of the proposed inventions novelty,
obviousness, utility, similarity to prior art, and compliance to disclosure standards.
Self Employment
September 2009 - Present
Freelance Developer/Technician
• Developed an iOS and Android mobile application using Objective-C/Java with a PHP
and SQL backend for a speech therapists, which assisted nurses in writing treatment
reports.
• Developed a Raspberry Pi based appliance using PureData and C++ that measures the
loudness of audio in real time and suppresses volume when a user defined limit is
breached.
• Developing an iOS mobile application using Objective C that assists in the tracking and
recommendation of exercises for maintaining and improving general fitness.
• Maintaining Debian software packages of several audio synthesis related programs for
the kxstudio linux distribution.
• Installed and repaired networks, media systems, PC/MAC computers and printers for
residential and small office clients.

labVIEW, NI Compact Rio, NI Vision, embedded C, C++, and javascript.
• Programmed device drivers to communicate with newly manufactured devices via
RS232, USB, Modbus, CAN Networks, and proprietary interfaces.
• Created a software testing package for SquareD that performs quality and functionality
tests for their manufactured circuit breaker/generator switches. Functions included
controlling probe and measurement instruments to verify proper electrical response of
the device, creating test stimuli to verify proper ground fault interruption and
generator activation, and generating standard compliant device test reports.
• Wrote software to perform device testing of an LCD based marine navigation device
manufactured by Caterpillar. Functions included measuring electrical responses at
various contact points, verifying proper button press responses using an automated air
pump pushing instrument, verifying screen functionality using a controlled camera and
image processing techniques.
