2. What is
happening in
Jerusalem?
Acts 11:28 - 28 Then one of them, named Agabus,
stood up and showed by the Spirit that there was
going to be a great famine throughout all the
world, which also happened in the days of Claudius
Caesar. 29 Then the disciples, each according to his
ability, determined to send relief to the brethren
dwelling in Judea.
Gal. 2:10 - 10 They desired only that we should
remember the poor, the very thing which I also was
eager to do.
Rom. 15:26 - 26 For it pleased those from
Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain
contribution for the poor among the saints who are
in Jerusalem.
1 Cor. 16:1,3 - Now concerning the collection for
the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of
Galatia, so you must do also… 3 And when I come,
whomever you approve by your letters I will send
to bear your gift to Jerusalem.
2 Cor. 8-9
3. “It is to your
advantage
[to give]” 8:10

Proof - It is physical proof of love
8:24
Stirring up - Giving can stir up
others 9:2

Lord Jesus
Christ” 8:9

Joy was a motivation 8:2
The blueprint was good, but the job had
to be completed 8:10-11
It was done out of sincere love 8:8
Phil. 8 Therefore, though I might be very
bold in Christ to command you what is
fitting, 9 yet for love’s sake I rather
appeal to you
