Albendazole
2. Introduction
Albendazole is an anthelmintic agent used predominantly in
treatment of echinococcosis, a parasitic worm that causes cysts in
liver and lung.
albendazole therapy is commonly associated with mild and transient
serum enzyme elevations and rarely can lead to clinically apparent acute
liver injury.
3. Albendazole
is a versatile anthelmintic drug used to treat gastrointestinal
parasites, lungworm infections, liver fluke infections, and
certain tapeworm infections in animals
4. Ascariasis
is the infestation of swine by the roundworm, Ascaris suum,
which can cause pneumonia, hepatitis, and ill thrift.
5. Tapeworms
are a common intestinal parasite that can affect dogs. They are long, flat
and segmented parasites. The segments can look like grains of rice, and
they are passed through an infected dog's feces, where they may be seen
in the stool, the fur around the dog's anus or in their bedding
6. What are the signs of ringworm in pets?
The most common signs that a pet has ringworm are: Areas of hair loss
with red skin
Animals, like people, get infected through touching an infected animal's
skin or hair or by touching things that are infected with the fungus, like
blankets and towels. Many different kinds of animals can transmit
ringworm to people.
7. Lungworm
is a parasitic infection of the respiratory tract in cattle, which can cause
severe disease outbreaks with coughing and respiratory distress. Death can
occur in heavy infestations. Other signs can include weight loss, and
reduced milk yield in dairy cows.
8. Young animals are the most commonly affected; clinical signs, though rare,
may include intermittent diarrhea, loss of appetite and weight loss, with
occasional blood or mucus in the feces. Large numbers of worms in the small
intestine can produce catarrhal enteritis with petechiae and ecchymoses.
