This document summarizes a study on rape and gender violence conducted at a district hospital in Ethiopia. The study assessed the magnitude of rape, determined associated factors, and examined complications. It found that over half of rape victims presented to the hospital within 1 day of the assault. The study classified rapes, screened patients for sexually transmitted infections like HIV, and provided counseling. Its goal was to better understand and address this significant public health issue.

follow up blood simple was taken for every patient
is screened for HIV and syphilis.
6 All patients counseled about HIV .
7 Varbal consent was obtained from all study
subjects for information.

1 Rape-forced.
- is physical penetration of the vulva or anus using
penis.
2 Gang rape
- is more than one perpetrator.
- is reported to be involved.

- patient is classified as having sexually transmitted
diseases.
-If vaginal discharge,genital ulcer enlarged lymph
nodes.
4 Sever genital injury.
- is defined when victim has any degree of perineal
tear.
