1. Research Evaluation
For my primary research I used mainly quantitative research to find out what my primary audience
wants from a college magazine.
40% of people asked would be happy to pay 25-50p and 50% would be happy paying 50p - £1 so I
think I would price my magazine at roughly 55p so it will appeal to people in both groups.
I won’t include an agony aunt or uncle section because it showed these were not popular with my
primary audience.
90% of people believed the magazine shouldn’t exclusively be about college information so I will
definitely include relevant articles for my primary audience that are not about college as well as
some about college.
Most people thought the colour scheme should be blue and white, so I will use these colour schemes
THC Monthly was the most popular name for the magazine but I didn’t provide many options so I
may need to change it.
There was a 50:50 split about whether it should contain more pictures or words so I will find a
balance between the two.
From my secondary research I found out most college magazine front covers include an image of a
college student around the college grounds so I will do the same.
I also found that I should include roughly 4-8 cover lines as the other college magazines I looked at
had roughly the same.
From my research of contents pages a simple colour scheme seemed like the best way to design my
contents page with clear, bold easy to read text.
