NPC ALLIANCE CORPORATION (NPCA) –a polyethylene plant in Bataan, Philippines
Position Held: PROCESS OPERATOR (Utilities Section)
Monitor the performance of process plant equipment by visual inspection and use of
monitoring apparatus.
Document details of abnormalities and/or any discrepancies between field and
control room indications of plant equipment in order to evaluate the criticality for
further maintenance planning.
Perform troubleshooting and maintenance repairs of process equipment as
necessary, and recommend further actions in-line with the observation or results of
the operation/maintenance activities.
Arrange for repair and replacement of instruments and control systems that fail to
operate.
Carry out a second set of readings. This ensures that everything is checked at least
every four hours on all units on the refinery.
Stay in contact with the process unit controller to make minor changes as necessary
in order to optimize the performance of the process unit. This includes
stopping/starting pumps, rerouting product rundowns, bypassing exchangers,
opening/closing valves, and taking samples of process streams for lab testing to
maintain product quality.
Continuously monitor all operating processes so that a malfunction is immediately
recognized and corrected.
Prepares and initiates the emergency shutdown procedures of process unit safely
and according to the standard operating procedures when incidents/accidents
occurs during the shift.

Position Held: PROCESS FIELD TECHNICIAN
Mainly responsible for the routine works on the assigned process area which
includes checking the operating conditions of all running units
Re-routing of process product according to the Work Operating Procedures (WOP)
through DCS and field operations.
Pre-commissioning, commissioning & decommissioning of Power and Steam
Generation System (e.g Steam turbines, Oil-Fired Boilers, Furnaces) pressurized
vessels & drums according to the standard operating procedures
Conduct inspections of unusual/abnormal conditions of all running units using
special tools such as Vibrometers and Tachometers.
Continuously monitor all operating processes so that a malfunction is immediately
recognized and corrected.
Check the routine duties for the unit and carry out any tasks required, i.e., blowing
down caustic levels in drums, removing water out of overhead drums, performing
H2S tests, preparing equipment for maintenance in order to make it safe before
maintenance works commence and signing off the routine duties.
Stay in contact with the process unit controller to make minor changes as necessary
in order to optimize the performance of the process unit. This includes
stopping/starting pumps, rerouting product rundowns, bypassing exchangers,
opening/closing valves, and taking samples of process streams for lab testing to
maintain product quality.
Draw-out product samples for routine & special laboratory tests
Carry out a second set of readings. This ensures that everything is checked at least
every six hours on all units on the refinery.
