4. About the scheme
• Who can use the Handyperson Scheme?
• The service is offered to owner occupiers who live in the London
Borough of Hounslow.
• Private tenants may use the service for jobs that are not the
responsibility of their Landlord (for example, putting up shelves or
building flat pack furniture).
• If they are a social housing tenant, they should report repairs to their
housing officer or the repairs call centre.
5. Criteria for the scheme
•The Handyperson scheme is available to residents
who:
• Have a disability or severe health problem that
prevents them from carrying out a repair themselves or
• They are a single parent with a disabled child or
• They are aged 65 years and over
• Evidence will need to be shown to prove eligibility.
Priority given to clients who live on their own, or
where all household members meet the criteria.
6. Partnership working
• One Handyperson based in ICRS (Integrated Community
Recovery Service) 5 days per week – Hospital Discharge installs
• One Handyperson based in Sheltered Accommodation – 2 days
per week (referrals from Scheme Managers and Linkline+) and
provides cover for two days per week at ICRS and cover for
ICRS leave.
• 2 additional Handypersons provide basic repair and TCES
programme
• All 4 Trusted Assessor trained.

7. How we are funded:-
•Housing funds the Handyperson scheme including
supervision
•BCF (Better Care Fund) funds Handyperson based in
ICRS
•IBCF (Integrated Better Care Fund) funds additional
Handyperson (fixed term for two years) for cover for
ICRS
•Joint Commisioning also provides additional funding
